It’s Child Passenger Safety Week this week and in honor of it, Chicco is giving away a Chicco KeyFit Strada Booster to one reader here.
I’ve already sung the praises of Chicco before, but I’ll do it again. We decided after cheaper brands of car seats and strollers only lasted through two children that it was time to go for quality over price when it comes to baby/children’s gear. Since we’re hoping to have more children (my husband and I say we’re hoping for 12, but we’ll see what God has in store!), we realized that we’d likely save quite a bit of money in the long run by spending more upfront on something higher quality.
So we purchased a Chicco car seat and we’ve been more than pleased. In fact, we were so happy with it that when we also needed to replace our stroller, we went with a Chicco stroller, too!
I love Chicco so much that I gave away two car seats on my dime recently. So I was thrilled when Chicco contacted me and asked if they could send me a Chicco booster and give one away on my blog! And I figured some of you might be excited, as well, seeing as you went gangbusters over the last car seat giveaway.
The Chicco KeyFit Strada Booster is a premium booster for children that is superior in comfort and convenience. The seat has more energy-absorbing EPS foam than most other seats, 4-star ratings in European side impact testing, and the headrest and shoulders adjust as one unit to accommodate 9 different height positions. The headrest and side wings also adjust UP and OUT for maximum protection of head, shoulder, and lumbar zones.
- More energy-absorbing EPS foam than most other seats
- Entire backrest adjusts up and sidewings adjust out for maximum protection of head, shoulder and lumbar zones
- Deluxe padded seat with micro-vented mesh for breathable comfort
- Angle-adjustable, clip-on cupholder for use on either side of the seat
- For use with children 4-10 yrs, 38”-57”, and 33-100 lbs. Converts to backless booster for children from 40-100 lbs.
Wide belt paths and simple one-hand height and width adjustment make installation and every day use easy. Other features include: angle-adjustable, clip-on cupholder for use on either side of the seat and removable fabric cover for washing. This booster is for children who are 4-10 yrs, 38”-57” tall and 33-100 lbs. It converts to a backless booster for children 40-100 lbs.

Don’t forget, car seats come with expiration dates now. The plastic weakens over time, so make sure you check it! And ALWAYS read the instruction manual and make you have installed and are using it properly!
@Allison,
I’m going to go check the date now, because i didn’t know they expire.
@Allison, Yep, that’s what I was going to say! We recently bought an infant car seat and it will expire in June 2015. I am hoping we get at least 2 babies to use it, and if 3 can…yay!
@Kacie,
Can you guys tell me where the exp date is? I went to go look, but didn’t see it anywhere.
@liah, The expiration date for my infant seat (Chicco Keyfit 30) is on the base, facing up so you can see it if you take the seat off the base.
For my son’s convertible, the expiration is somewhere on the shell. I think.
@liah, I think they’re all stamped in the plastic, probably on the back of the seat somewhere.
@liah, If there’s not an expiration date stamped on the seat, there’s usually a manufacture date. The rule of thumb is to stop using them 6 years after the manufacture date.
@Allison,
I came here to say this as well! My daughter has one booster we use as back up but since she is small framed we are going to keep her in a five point carseat because it’s much safer. From what little research I have done on carseats, they last about 6 years from the date manufactured and should ALWAYS be replaced after a wreck..even a fender bender!
@Sara, Most insurance companies will replace car seats after accidents. That’s probably common knowledge, but I just thought I’d throw it out there to remind people to ask about having insurance replace a car seat before going and purchasing a new one after an accident.
@Crystal,
WOW, Crystal! That is awesome to know. I had never heard that before. I will pass it along to friends as well.
Love Chicco used two with my older boys, now I’m needing one for my daughter!
I just want to say thanks for making it so easy to enter your giveaways. No hoops to jump through, just name and email. How refreshing!
@Tenille,
I agree..No twitter this and blahblah that. So easy!
@Tenille, I was just thinking the EXACT thing!
@Tenille, You’re welcome. That would be the brainstorm of my team. And truth be told, it makes it a ton easier for us to choose a winner, too. We just generate a random number and find them on the spreadsheet through our giveaway sign-up form!
@Crystal, I completely agree….love the simplicity of it…way to go, “team”!
@Tenille,
I was thinking that too! So nice and easy
I want one! This would be awesome thanks Chicco and Money Saving Mom!
Crystal, I just wanted to say thank you for making your giveaways so easy to enter. I really do appreciate that!
I love the Chicco baby gear also! We used the Keyfit 30 with our daughter and loved it. We also have the stroller and highchair and love them both. Very safe and good quality!
DEFINITLY also recomend the chicso. No more frustration when moving back and forth between vehicles either!!! WORTH every penny!!!
@tovah, oops…sorry “chicco”.
We’ve bought Britax car seats for the same reason—they are pricey, but they are SO easy to use and so durable that they are worth every penny. And the resale value of a Britax is pretty good, so after we’ve gotten 5-6 years of use out of the first Britax that we bought (and are currently using with our second….it still looks almost new), we can probably recoup some of what we spent. There is definitely a value to spending money on something that you will use almost every day (though now we live in a city and bike/walk more than we drive!).
@Meghan, Make sure you check the expiration date. Even if it looks new, it might not be safe.
Thanks for making everything so easy to enter! Thanks for the chance!
Thanks!
Meghan, keep in mind expiration dates when you sell a seat after 5-6 years. I believe some britax do have a 6 year expiration, it is illegal to sell an expired seat.
My daughter really needs a new seat. this would be perfect.
Thank you for the giveaway!
We have the chicco travel system and
I like it for the most part. I do find the stroller very heavy and difficult to get up and down stairs. When I was recovering from my c-section I could not take the baby for a walk unless my husband was home.
Thank you for the opportunity as well as all the information about this particular booster seat! It can be so overwhelming trying to find a seat that not only protects our precious cargo, but is also durable and easy to use! I too appreciate the ease of entering your contests. I also am learning so much from this site – thanks for all you do!
These are great seats- but PLEASE remember if the child is 4 and 33 lbs, they should still in a 5 point harness, at minimum. With some new car seats, you can rear face up to 40 lbs which is truly the safest!
12 is such a nice number!
We only have 11 so far, and are praying for more…
I agree that buying quality ends up saving $ in the long run – for me, I really like not having to shop for that specific item again in a short time.
I would SO love to win this! Since we full-time RV and travel extensively during the winter, our little ones spend a lot of time in their seats…
And I too love how simple it is to enter giveaways here! Many times I will not enter other giveaways because they are such a pain! Thanks a lot Crystal!!!
I hope I can win this for my little one. Thanks for giving.
Only 12?? [grin] Wow, that is so great and refreshing. Lord willing, I’d love to have that many someday.
I hope the Lord blesses your family. Children are one of God’s greatest gifts.
Quality really can save money in the long-run, I agree! Just keep in mind that most carseats expire after 6 years anyway (some last a bit longer), so factor that into how much money you’ll save
. Infant seats, for example, seem to easily last through 3 kids or so (we were handed-down a Graco snugride that had been through 2 kids, and it easily lasted through our son, and could have been fine for our new girl, if it didn’t expire), so it is truly cheaper in that case to get the cheapest option, as they can still last through the 6 year max. A booster seat. . . maybe not. No experience there, yet
.
@Susan, I agree on the infant seats. We have a Graco seat that was handed down to us from good friends; it will last us through 2 children (barely!) before it “expires”. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of a newer infant seat, but it didn’t cost anywhere near as much, either!
I’m curious how this seat compares to the Britax Frontier. Anyone know?
No Way!! I was LITERALLY just putting one of the booster seats in my cart at an online retailer, we need another one for my husband’s car so he can pick up my girl when he gets home early… Woot woot, hope I win, that would be awesome! Thanks for the chance!
Thanks for making it so easy to enter this giveaway! I’m crossing my fingers…my son will be ready for a booster pretty soon here and things are tight! Love the blog–has saved me so much!
Thanks, Good luck everyone!
I agree that it is worth it to pay morsels quality in a caraway, but for safety reasons not financial. Most carseats cannot be resold once used due to the fact that they expire, with the exception being the infant seat if you only have one child or a couple close together it may still have life left. But an expired seat should never be sold or used as others indicated, so you aren’t likely to make that money back selling it.
I would LOVE this!
I just want you to know that I didn’t read past the 12 children part. Good luck to you and your husband! You two would be amazing parents to that many kiddos. You do love to be busy, huh!
Thanks! I love your website!!!
I would love to win this!! My daughter is going to need a new booster soon and this would be such a blessing!!
Thanks for making it easy to enter.We could really use this as our little girl’s almost ready for a booster.Also our little boy is in one given to us,I’ll have to check when it’ll expire.I had never heard that before.
I would love love love to win a booster seat!!! My little girl is ready to move into one.. Thank You Money Saving Mom!!!!
I don’t need it but I work with a mama that is struggling and she could use it. So if I win, I’m gifting it to her
Thank you!
What a blessing it would be to win one of these!! Thanks so much for the chance!
My oldest just turned 30 lbs FINALLY. He’s a tall, lanky thing and the shoulder straps are digging into his shoulders because of his height. We’ve been looking for an affordable booster seat to get him into. Been looking on Freecycle and on Craigslist.
I follow you on Facebook, RSS, and twitter. You have helped me save so much money. We can’t thank you enough!
What a great giveaway! I just gave birth to my handsome twin boys and am getting ready be discharged. I’ve been combing websites and sales to get a great deal on two car seats. Can’t wait to see if I’ve won!! Thanks for such an awesome and useful giveaway!!
What a great giveaway!!
I really need this !!!!!!
Great giveaway!
We too have a Chicco Cortina travel system and though my almost 2 year old is out of the carseat, we still use the stroller and love it! We went with quality over a bargain price and have not regretted it once. I tell everyone I know about Chicco and how much I love it and recommend it. Would love to win this as my kiddo is older and the Recaro seat we have it a little bulkier than I like!
24-hour giveaway? It has been more than 24 hours. Did they announce the winner?
The giveaway has closed and the winner will be announced on Monday as stated in the post.
@Crystal, Thanks!
