I went yesterday to our Rite Aid and they told me that they couldn’t take the coupon because the coupon was for $1 and the item was 89 cents. The manager said he couldn’t adjust the price of the coupon. I called coporate and they said that it was illegal to adjust a coupon more than a penny and so they legally couldn’t do it. I don’t know if I “buy” these reasons! When I pointed out that I’d been to other stores that do this, they said that te other stores were doing illegal things.

Anyone know what the corporate policy is? Were they telling the truth or should I just go to the other RA a few blocks away?

Did you show the guy the advertisement? Did you fax a copy to corporate? I would keep a copy of these week ad for a long time. I was rather surprised when I saw it in the paper.

I agree with showing them that it mentions the coupon specifically in their ad. I was able to use the coupon at my Rite-Aid today with no problem. They even gave me the overage to go toward my other items!

Same thing happened to me at Rite Aid yesterday. The cashier refused to accept the $1 Gain coupon because the sale prices is less than the coupon. I showed her the ad and told her that it was advertised on the ad. She took one look at the ad and said Rite Aid will lose money if she takes the coupons. How ridiculous is that!! Do customers care if Rite Aid will lose money ?? I tried to explain to her that is not true and she can adjust the coupon down to $0.89. After going back and forth for a few minutes, she still refused to accept the coupons. Then she goes she has to manually adjust/enter each coupon and she still wouldn’t budge. At that point, I told her again that was what was advertised on the ad and you do what you got to do to take the coupons. And I asked her if I can speak to the manager and she said she’s in charge. To make the story short, I told her I will call Corporate to verify if she’s not honoring it which shows Rite Aid is false advertising. In the end, she accepted the coupons with a very bad attitude and told me I still need to pay for the tax.

It has always been frustrating and challenging shopping at Rite Aid. They hire the worst people you can imagine and their cashiers are extremely lack of customer services and knowledge of their own store policy. I am glad I did not just walk away. Someone got to teach those cashiers the store policy. :P

They wouldn’t let me use both Pepsi coupons. I’ve been to two RA and I can’t find the Gain. :(
