I did this last week and didn’t get the $5 catalina for buying 5 Philly cream cheeses! Is it new for this week’s ad? We love Philly but it’s so expensive that I stock up during this sale, so there’s no problem here if I have to go buy more to test it out. ;)

Crystal July 19, 2010 at 3:40 pm

The catalina deal just began today. :)

DeAnna July 19, 2010 at 3:45 pm

@Crystal, awesome, thanks!

Sherri July 19, 2010 at 3:50 pm

I just bought 5 packages of Kraft shredded cheese and got them free after catalina (bought 5 other items to get the Mega price). It should also work for Kraft singles, which are also in the Mega event for 99 cents. Lotsa free cheese this week! You just have to remember to buy 5 other participating items. If you try to do 10 cheeses at once, you will only get 1 $5 coupon.

Denise July 19, 2010 at 4:02 pm

I received a notice at check-out with the same deal at my local Von’s (A Safeway Store). I live in San Diego and I am going to see if Ralph’s (A Kroger’s Store) is offering this deal in this area as well.

Erica July 19, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Don’t you need to buy 10 items for the mega deal at Kroger to reduce the price to .99?

Dani July 20, 2010 at 8:16 am
Dani July 20, 2010 at 8:18 am

@Dani, Oops. My reply didn’t work…

You do need 5 other items. Go to the campbell’s website and there is 50 cents off 2 spaghettios coupon. Print this twice. This will be 4 more of your items. Then grab a Gatorade or single cup of macaroni and cheese for 49 cents and you’ll pay $5.45 + tax and recieve $5.00 OYNO. Great deal!! ( I went last night and did this. Not a big pop drinker so I grabbed the Gatorade!)

Ashley July 20, 2010 at 12:54 pm

@Erica,
Yes, you have to buy 10 items!! I found great fillers for the promo… disposable foil pans @ 50¢ mega sale price for 2-5 (depending on size).. that would mean you could get 5 sets of foil pans, and 5 cream cheese for FREE… If you have the $1/1 Cream cheese coupon this could be a $2.50 moneymaker!!

Danielle Bradbury July 21, 2010 at 8:17 am

@Ashley, I don’t know about your store, but my Kroger has things like cans of diced tomatoes, 2-liters of soda, bags of instant potatoes, Gatorades and a few other things for $0.49 each in the Mega Deal, so it might be a great way to pad your pantry!

Ashley July 21, 2010 at 12:26 pm

@Danielle Bradbury,
Yes, my store has those items as well but I don’t use most of them. Perhaps there is a Red Gold coupon out there for tomatoes? Spaghettio’s is another good one and there’s a 50¢ off 2 coupon out there, making them free after they are doubled!
Thanks for the info :)

Brandi July 19, 2010 at 4:14 pm

I got the catalina pictured above last week informing me of the deal. I tried it out today buying 4 Kraft natural cheeses and 1 Philadelphia cream cheese and didn’t get the $5 catalina!

Kara July 19, 2010 at 7:43 pm

@Brandi, I didn’t get the catilina either! ugh!

Sherri July 20, 2010 at 9:07 am

@Brandi, Call the Catalina company at 1-888-8COUPON. You will need your receipt info to verify the purchase. You give them some basic info, and they send you the $5 coupon in the mail. Have had to do this other times and they were very helpful.

Eve Helm July 19, 2010 at 4:19 pm

Went to Kroger today and bought 5 cream cheese and NO catalina. I asked at the front desk if they knew any more information on the deal and they looked at me as if I were from Mars. :( This was the Nashville area.

Kara July 19, 2010 at 7:44 pm

@Eve Helm, In Spring Hill and didn’t get the catilina either. bummer :(

Eve July 21, 2010 at 9:02 pm

@Kara,

GOOD NEWS TENNESSEE SHOPPERS! I found a way to get our catalina’s after all …. I called 1-888-8Coupons (option 3), explained my difficulty, gave them my personal information, and information about my purchase off my receipt. My catalina is being mailed and should be on it’s way. Apparently, there is some crazy thing going on that keeps the catalina on CREAM CHEESE from printing in TENNESSEE :( ! It is still 1 deal per transaction but, she didn’t seem to mind that I will be calling back once I get a chance to return to Kroger.

Great Frosting Recipe to go along with this deal:

1 – 8 oz Cream Cheese
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Confectioners Sugar
1 – 8 oz Cool Whip

Blend Cream Cheese and Sugars, mix in cool whip …. Great on CHOCOLATE cake!

Enjoy,
Eve

Kara July 19, 2010 at 5:23 pm

How do you print 5 coupons? It would only allow me to print 2 coupons.
Thanks!

Dani July 20, 2010 at 9:21 am

@Kara, Multiple computers if you are able to

Summer July 19, 2010 at 5:42 pm

Is this at Dillons?

Laura July 19, 2010 at 5:59 pm

From a brand-new coupon wannabe:

After reading the questions from the other ladies, I’m a little gun-shy and afraid of trying this. :)

So: you can take 5 identical coupons for $1 off the same product, and buy 5 of them, and the stores will accept ALL of the coupons during the same purchase?!?!?

Neat!

Then, theoretically, the machine will print out a $5 off your next order coupon. Right?

Okay, I’ll give it a shot.

Thanks for your neat site!

jen July 20, 2010 at 1:25 pm

@Laura,
Yes, you are right. The coupons can be printed 2 per computer. You could print 2 phili cream cheese and 2 kraft cheese.

Andrea July 19, 2010 at 6:28 pm

Did this multi times today and worked like a charm at Dillons in Springfield MO

Becky in KY July 19, 2010 at 6:47 pm

I’m wondering if the people for whom the catalina didn’t print live in an area where the ads begin on a different day. At my Kroger in western KY, the ads always begin on Wednesday, so I always have to wait a couple days after the deals are posted here for them to be active at my store. Would that make a difference in this situation?

Emily July 19, 2010 at 7:09 pm

@Becky in KY,
It shouldn’t make a difference, because (at least in Central OH where I live) this is the 2nd week in a row for the Mega Event sale and this week’s prices are the same as last week’s (for the Mega Event items). Make sense?

Becky in KY July 19, 2010 at 7:14 pm

@Emily, That makes sense, but Crystal said the catalina just began today, so I’m wondering whether it will begin a couple days later in late-ad areas.

Emily July 20, 2010 at 9:52 am

@Becky in KY, Oh I see what you’re saying. I never knew that catalina offers could begin on different days in different parts of the country, but maybe that is the reason.

DeAnna July 20, 2010 at 3:42 pm

@Becky in KY, It’s working, Becky! I’m in Madisonville, Ky and just got back from Kroger with a $5 catalina :)

Debbie July 19, 2010 at 7:01 pm

Will this catalina roll if you use it to do the deal again in another transaction?

Rhonda July 19, 2010 at 7:32 pm

Thank you! Worked well in Southern Indiana (Louisville, KY area).

Michelle July 19, 2010 at 8:39 pm

I did this deal twice today in Gainesville, GA, and the $5 catalina printed both times……10 free packages of cream cheese! Gotta love that! :)

cwaltz July 19, 2010 at 8:48 pm

Worked at Kroger in SW Virginia, like a charm. I bought 2 cream cheese and 3 shredded cheese for $4.95 + 3 pepsi products, rice quakes and got my free batteries(summer of savings) for $6.95 and got a $5 catalina back.

I sure wish I could figure out how to get those stupid $1 off 1 cream cheese to print. We could use some overage. These past couple of weeks have been hard and I’d love to be able to use overage to treat the kids and hubby to pepper poppers, stuffed mushrooms or some weenies wrapped in bacon. Comfort picnic food.

jen July 20, 2010 at 1:20 pm

@cwaltz,

Are you going to the http://www.realwomenofphiladelphia.com? After you register, watch for an email. The log in, create an identity, then go to back to the home page. The coupon like is on the right hand side about 1/2 way down the page.

I just printed 2 from both my computers this morning.

cwaltz July 20, 2010 at 1:40 pm

@jen,

Whew,finally got it to work! I swear it kept looping me back to the identity page over and over. I’ve never worked so hard for 2 coupons in my life. :)

Linda July 19, 2010 at 9:37 pm

Has anyone tried this in AZ? We have the Mega 10 sale at Fry’s (Kroger), but I hadn’t seen any successful transactions out here mentioned.

Danika July 19, 2010 at 10:34 pm

@Linda,
Worked tonight at Fry’s in AZ for me! I bought 2 Kraft shredded & 3 Philly and it printed me a $5 catalina.

Thanks for posting this deal. I was only going to get 4 of these items but happened to see this post before I left to the store!

Liza July 20, 2010 at 12:58 am

does anyone tried this here in houston?

Kelley July 20, 2010 at 2:24 pm

@Liza, I just came back from Kroger in Houston, picked up 5 cream cheese and got the $5 catalina.

Jen July 20, 2010 at 8:04 am

Anyone know if this catalina is working at Hyvee?? I’d love to see it there…we have had this one before. TIA

lisa July 20, 2010 at 2:56 pm

I live in east tenn. I tried today with 4 bags of cheese and 1 philly cream cheese and it did not work. Also tried yesterday with 4 bags of cheese and 2 mini cream cheeses. both times they sent me to the service desk and I was given $5.

Cris July 20, 2010 at 6:38 pm

Got one today for buying cream cheese and the sale will still be on next week. Can I use it to buy 5 more and get another catalina???

ann July 20, 2010 at 10:54 pm

@Cris, Yes u can…i rolled the cat thrice.. :) hth

Sam July 21, 2010 at 6:36 am

My friend and I went to Fry’s(Kroger) yesterday. There is a sign right by the chesse area and the $1 copons also is there. I brought 5 bags of cheese and the catalina did not print. So we went to customer service and they looked at us like were crazy. So one of the CS ladies went w/me so see the sign. They are clueless when it comes to these catalina deals. She saw the sign and said “No, see you save $5 when u buy 5″, I pointed to the sign and I said “$5 off your next shopping trip”. So she wrote us a $5 off hand written coupon for next trip.

I will try again.

Sarah July 21, 2010 at 8:01 pm

If I buy 5 cream cheeses and 5 Kraft shredded cheeses (to add up to 10 items for the mega sale), will I get 2 catalinas? Or can you only get 1 catalina per purchase? Thank you for your help!! This is at Kroger.

Katie July 22, 2010 at 9:32 am

@Sarah,
You will only get 1 catalina. But still, $5 for 10 cheese products is a great deal!

I just did this 4 times today. Thanks for the heads up Crystal!

Susan July 26, 2010 at 8:23 am

My sister and I bought the cream cheese at 2 different Krogers and the Catalina didn’t print. However, she went back and bought 10 other Kraft cheeses and got back 2 $5 catalinas.
