I’m gearing up for another Freezer Cooking Day next week (and yes, I’ll be doing it P90X style!) and was excited to see that Barnes and Noble has the Once-A-Month Cooking and Once-A-Month Cooking: Family Favorites cookbooks clearanced to $1.99 each as part of their Summer Warehouse Sale!

These were the very first freezer cooking books I ever read and found them to be invaluable. And they were the inspiration for many a once-a-month cooking spree!

There are lots of other $1.99 titles in the Summer Warehouse Sale — including some great children’s books. I found it was easiest to search by sorting by price ($1.99) and then age of children to see what titles were available.

You can get 15% off the highest-price item in your cart with the discount codes listed here. Shipping is free if you order $25 worth.

I saw a book titled “Creating Your Birth Plan: The Definitive Guide to a Safe and Empowering Birth” that might be of interest to some of your readers. :)

I had the privilege of meeting Mimi Wilson at a small ladies conference two years ago and she is such a sweet lady.
Very intentional about her family and had some wonderful ideas for cultivating a loving, God honoring, hospitable home.

Wow..thank you for the tip! I may buy a few of these and give to my sisters for Christmas. I am a full time nursing student and trying to get good meals for my family (13, 4 and 1 yr old plus Air Force hubby) is very hard and time consuming but your freezer days give me hope that I can get in the groove of doing this for the benefit of myself and family. Thanks!

Thanks so much I just got both of the books you mentioned. Hopefully I will be able to put them to use along with all of your creative plans for freezer cooking days.

hey are these cookbooks heathy? The only once a month one at my library uses mostly canned stuff for their recipes adn I can’t feed my family like that all the time.

This was great! Got both OAMC books and several other books for gifts at $27.01 total!

Thank you! I was able to get the once a month cooking book for just $2.13 shipped and with taxes! I just started OAMC and can’t wait to try more recipes. :)

Thanks so much for posting this! I’m so excited for these books to arrive! I feel like I’m always cooking the same things for freezer cooking day!

Thanks so much for the heads up. My original copy of OAMC is rather dog eared so I’m treating myself to a new copy plus one of the family favorite editions. I didn’t even know that one existed! I got a bunch of children’s books also for birthday and Christmas gifts. 14 books for $50 and many of them were hardback. They really have some good finds on clearance.

I picked these up after you posted. Looking to do meal planning/freezer. Do you have recommendations on what to put all this stuff in? Do you use freezer bags, plastic tubs. and what sizes work best! Thx

Crystal August 3, 2010 at 2:16 pm

I use freezer bags, mostly. But I also use plastic containers or foil pans — if I’m able to get them on a great deal or free.
