Sears has brought the extremely popular Men’s Clothing Rebate back again this year for Father’s Day!
Here’s how it works:
::Purchase $50 worth of Men’s Clothing from Sears (online or in-store — excludes Land’s End products and footwear) between now and June 20, 2010.
::Mail in your receipt along with this rebate form by July 20, 2010. (You can also submit it online.)
::Receive a $50 store credit good on any Men’s Apparel purchase at Sears. (This credit has come in the form of a voucher by mail the two times I’ve done this deal in previous years.)
Shop through Ebates or ShopAtHome to get cashback, too!

Crystal, you have successfully gotten this rebate, right? We were denied the rebate last year even though we were very careful to do everything right and enlisted staff help to double check our order. I’m not too inclined to take the time again.
Yes, I have. I’m so sorry you had issues last year. That’s a total bummer.
@Carrie, this makes me a bit nervous…I have a $25 gift card on hand…so would only have to spend $25 to get $50 back…but am scared to “waste” it. hmmm…
I was wondering too- have people gotten back the coupon or whatever it is from Sears, and how long did it take to get the rebate/coupon back? I see it has to be used by 10/29. My DH has lost some weight and could use some new khakis for work and summer shorts but I don’t want to head over there for naught.
Yes, I’ve gotten this rebate successfully both times I’ve done it. It usually takes around 4-8 weeks for it to arrive for me.
You might want to note that the gift card is only redeemable on men’s apparel purchases…not just a normal store gift card.
Thank you for sharing that!
Do you know if we can go through a site like ebates to make this purchase? Or does that conflict with the “offer not good with any other rebate”?
Is the credit available online or only in stores? Thanks!
I heard on Sunday if you buy a $50.00 card for Sears at CVS athey will give you $10.00 Extra Care Bucks.
@Sue N, Yes, you are right! Next week there is an extra buck deal on $50 Sears gift cards for $10 ECB’s back! What great timing!
@Sue N, I just noticed this too. It’s great. I did this last year with my husband and we got the gift card in 4 weeks.
We did this lat year. At the store I checked and double checked with the manager to make sure that we were buying the correct items for the promotion. Several months later and after several phone calls (which were not pleasant) we finally got our giftcard. Too stressful to be worth it
Crystal – Does the rebate come as a cash rebate to use in-store, or can the rebate then be used online?
Thanks!
Good question and I’m not entirely sure. We’ve always used ours in-store. Anyone else know?
Buy the $50 gift card at CVS this week, and you’ll earn $10 in ECB’s!!! How sweet is that?!
My ECB’s are like cash to me, so $40 for $100 worth of clothes works for me!
Just found evidence via ad scan of what other poster said. CVS offering $10 ECB on Sears giftcards. Does anyone have any evidence if you use a giftcard for purchase if that still qualifies or not?
@Erin, Called Sears, if you use a giftcard for your purchase then you won’t qualify for the rebate giftcard.
@shelly, Thank you for posting!
I did this last year and had no problem. I submitted the rebate online and got the gift card back in about a month. It was in gift card form but only redeemable for men’s clothing. That wasn’t a problem since my DH goes thru elbows and knees like crazy.
DH used the gift card in store so we didn’t have to pay for shipping.
I was wondering if we qualified if we used any coupon codes. The “no other deals” wording in the rebate makes me wonder. There is a $5 off $50 coupon code right now, I would still keep the total over $50. That way I can throw in an extra pair of socks.
Make sure to tell people to go through ebates to get an extra 4% back! That’s what I did!
I too had problems with this last year. We spent over $50 but didn’t get the rebate back. Stink-o. Makes me hesitant to do it anything this year.
Maybe keep the tags on the clothing until you get your rebate? Then if there are any problems, just return the clothes.
Thanks Crystal. I’m going to try this. Hubby has just turned 30 and is going through a “mid life crisis” in the clothing department. He got rid of all his cargo pants and now doesn’t much that isn’t denim.
We have had great luck with getting the gift cards back every year no matter how much they were for. I am sorry to hear some people were dissed on this deal in years past.
You must follow the rebate instructions to the letter and only one address per offer/rebate can be used.
Like several others who have commented here, I am using a Sears Gift card purchased at CVS to buy the men’s apparel at Sears…$40.00 for $100.00 worth of stuff ? Love that !
@Nonna Beach, Unfortunately if you use a gift card to make a purchase with the promotion, it makes it invalid to receive the rebate giftcard.
@Nonna Beach, Glad to hear others had success. The sad part for us was that I even took the rebate form into the store and took it up to the cashier (who happened to be the manager) and she double checked that I was making the exact purchase needed for the rebate.
Great rebte. I wish I knew about your websght or at least this rebate last year. puchased a couple hundred dollars of clothing for my son with no knowledge of any rebate there. Thanks for havign your sight. I am saving at least $100 a mont by using it. This month, I am probrably up to over $300 because of all the great deals at Walgreens last weekend.
Thanks a bunch!!!
Sherri
I have called 2 CVS stores here locally and they don’t have the $10 ECBs on the Sears card=( Where did you find out that they had the ECBs? Also, I called Sears and if you use a $50 Sears gift card towards the purchase, then you can’t get the rebate. Thought I would share what they told me=) But it’s still a good deal!
I too had trouble getting my rebate back. I rec’d a letter about 3 months later stating that my purchases did not qualify (yet, they did all mens clothing) and wrote an email back and sent another copy of my receipt. I did rec my gift card right around Christmas time.
I had no problems last year with mine.
The Sears gift card deal at CVS is next week (6/13-6-19). You can view the ad scan here (http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0ASJeJaVB4ZuiZGNuNTNqa25fNzI1Z2tucndjZDU&hl=en), and see the Sears deal on page 6.
We have done this before (I think it was twice last year) and never had any problems with getting our rebate. The only thing we did not like was that the items you could purchase with your gift card was so limited.
We tried our best to spend as close to $50 as possible, but we still had to ad some money at the register.
Does anyone know if I can purchase sale items or clearance items? Also do socks and underwear count too?
There is also an offer from: Tom Thumb/Randall’s/Safeway grocery store good thru 06/15: buy $100 in sears cards get $10 off your next instore order.
AND the CVS deal buy a $50 Sears card get $10 ECB (limit 2)
AND if you shop thru ebates to 4% cash back.
Makes for a pretty sweet deal!
We will NOT do this again. we got the $50 gift card. but they limited it to use on specific items, not ALL men’s apparel as we were led to believe. So we could not get him the shorts he needed or a black long sleeve shirt, just things in specific brands.
I called the general sears number to ask if underwear was included and she said yes, THEN I called the rebate phone number to ask and she said NO UNDERWEAR and NO SOCKS! I truly got the impression that both people were just winging the answer! I asked the rebate girl to please read me the list of qualifying items and she could not! Perhaps we should email Sears to have our questions addressed in writing.
I did this rebate last year and had no issues. Got the gift card in about a month and used it on basic men’s clothing…shirts, pants. I plan to do this again!
I just emailed them and I tried to copy the letter into comments here, but I guess it was too long or something because I don’t see it posted.
I am writing to obtain a response from Sears that I can use in case there is a problem with processing my rebate. I called the general sears customer service number and was told one thing. I called the number listed at the bottom of the rebate form and was told the opposite! I have also read on blogs online that many people do not plan on taking advantage of this offer because they were denied their gift card last year and/or it took lots of follow up until they did. If you would please respond to the following questions it would be most appreciated:
1. What counts as qualifying men’s apparel? The only wording on the rebate is “Excludes Land’s end merchandise and footwear”. Yet when I called the rebate number to ask if socks and underwear was included, she said no. The women at the general number told me that they were included. If need be, please provide a list of what men’s apparel is, though I think most customers would be highly frustrated if Sears is going to be that strict as the ad is so loosely termed.
2. Can you use a Sears gift card to pay for the qualifying $50 purchase?
3. Can you use other coupons (ex, $5 off $50) and still qualify as long as the total paid out of pocket is $50 or greater?
4. Is the gift card that you receive as the incentive really good on all Men’s apparel except for Landsend? People who have done the rebate in the past are reporting that many items that most people would think are men’s apparel were not able to be purchased with the incentive gift card.
5. Can you make a purchase online, through a site like ebates which offers cash back, and still qualify for the rebate?
I have copied the url of one of the blogs that I frequent so you can see how many people are confused. Also, this confusion and people spreading their dissatisfaction can only contribute to a bad reputation for Sears. I can pass along your reply to these bloggers and people will be happy knowing the details of this deal. It is a very nice opportunity and Sears consumers just need some clarification.
@staceypunk, Thanks for looking into this. Please let us know what you find out!
Hello everyone-
I contacted the store manager at my local sears (Minneapolis) and verified on ALL their information for the promotion/rebate, YOU CAN use a sears gift card on the purchase and there is also NO restrictions on the use of the rebate gift card except that it must be mens clothing only. The store manager gave me their name and other info and stated if it does get denied any store WILL give you a gift card to honor the offer if it happens (which can then be used anywhere at sears…..FYI)
I think its best that everyone has a manager verify there is no reason a gift card cant be used on the original purchase and get their info so in case it happens yours gets denied you can go back to them specifically and they can verify they told you it was ok and they were wrong. This never fails when things are in question and it helps to have some people on our side of the mess too.
@Patrick, I wish the manager at my Sears had the same answer! I went in and talked to the manager at our store yesterday and was told that if you use a giftcard to pay for your purchase the rebate will not be valid.
I also called the Rebate customer service number and was given the same answer.
Seeing as Sears probably won’t be around much longer, I’m definitely not going to risk it.
Did this last year and had no problems–seems like it was a while before we got the card, but did get it. It is limited to certain men’s apparel, but at this time last year and now, DH needs new pants/jeans and he only likes 1 certain cut of Levis and 1 certain cut of Docker’s for work pants and he is tall, so that makes thrift shop shopping/deal seeking difficult. So… since we will be spending money on jeans and pants anyway, may as well buy them at Sear’s and get the gift card even if it is limited to certain items–if he can’t find anything else to buy with the gift card, we can always get Christmas presents for the grandfathers.
I did the rebate last year to get my husband some new jeans and got the gift card rebate with no problem. Will definitely be doing this again regardless, its still a good deal!
FYI…..Usually the gift cards you buy at CVS or other drugstores charge face value ($50 for a $50 gift card) but charge a $2.95 activation fee. They put this in really small print on the card it comes on.

Hi, just found this board but I had some thoughts, one was thinking why don’t all the people who had trouble or didn’t get their giftcard give a basic description off the item purchased & how they paid, maybe we can ind a pattern?
2) read the fine print on products, I have noticed alot of products that seem to be their own brand name are actually owned by another brand name, so even though your buying a X_________ brand shirt, it mat actually be a name owned & products produced by lands end, so be careful it seems that everyone is sneaky these days!
3) Most managers at a store, & the larger the store the more often this happens, have very little knowledge of what is what with sales & rebates, I know it sound like they should& I’m sure most would, as a general rule of thumb these days most places have cut back theirworkers to the bare minimum, leaving managers to pick up the slack, so they are not only doing any manegerial duties during a shift, they are also doing everything else, A manager, lets say on small leval as places like sears seem to rarely have ONE store manager, they have dept managers, & then a General manager that over all the stores in a certain area. Seeing as how the GM can’t be at your store all the time this creates enough caos on it’s own, theres what like 10 different dept in sears? All those managers need 1 person to oversee & overrule &, you get the picture, but on a day to day basis they dpn’t have that option. So they make sure all the schedules are done for the week, cover shifts that can’t be covered, make numerous phone calls to replace anyone that has called out, make sure the morning & evening paperwork is correct, do any needed safe drops be it just from the register to a safe in the back or a run to the bank. They also have to make sure the dept is clean, well stocked & all the sales & other signs are in appropriate places, sometimes they are in charge of ordering to. Any time a cashier has an issue a manager comes over to bring them change, fix their drawer or walk them through transactions. It is also their respnsibility to keep theft down in their dept, & generally they are also on the sales floor as a regular employee to answer customer questions, go find sizes in the back, help people find things, ring things up & running any credit card apps that happen. They also gen are the 1′s that get the complaints be it screaming or not. This is a day in the life of many managers, & believe me they in general do not get paid well for it. Thats not to say there are crummy managers, just throwing that out there. Just keep in mind that it is pretty hard for anyone, including a manager, to know the EXACT terms & conditions, especially with something that has very pricise rules. They may not be awaire that X____ brand is actually owned by lands end, a dept store manager does not have time to learn about every brand they have & it’s origins & what brands it owns ect. So please, stop relying on the store manager for things like this, they will do there best but often it’s just better to call the people in charge of the rebate instead.
Also you get alot of ” managers” that aren’t really managers, now I say this because I have been instructed to do this & have done so ( I like paying mt rent), when the manager is exhausted, just got yelled at or for any other reason can’t or won’t deal with a customer they ask a knowledgeable employee to do so & say they are the manager, in many instances they may be wearing a managers pin ( I used to work for a place that had a box full of lost nametags, if you lost yours you MUST grab one out of the box & wear it or go home, I have also had managers hand me their nametage or the nametag of a person who no longer works with them. Cashiers in alot of ways have a better idea of whats going on with the rebates & such but that because they have spent so much time on the floor & so much time getting yelled out & chewed out because some person made a purchase of only lands ends products & is pissed no 1 stopped her since she can’t get her rebate, not that she mentioned the rebate when she originally being checked out, she most likely would have been told, but then you get customers that apparently know more than you do because you try to politly explaine so they don’t have any issues getting their rebate, your trying to save them $ but they know better so they feel the need to yell because you suggest they swap out an item so they can get their rebate. Plus you don’t know every single clause in the forms, after all your at work, you don’t have time to be researching all day or studying a form.
3) it is absolutly unexscusable if the people handeling the rebates do not know about the rebates or cannot put you on hold & find out. ALWAYS get a name, if possible they may have an extension or other form of ID, write down the time the call started & ended what was discussed & answered. Basically get as much info on them as you can ( they can often give out a nickname or “stage name” in order to protect their own privacy).
4) the General rule of thumb is that if a rebate , sale, coupon ext, states that it cannot be used in comjunction with any other discount that generrally means a discount in store, like you couldn’t use a coupon on your purchase as well. It does not generrrally mean anything about getting a deal from somewhere else, now this particular rebate seems very strict, so I’m not sure but unless it says you cannot USE a giftcard for the purchase you can use one, & if you buy the giftcard elsewhere, like at CVS, & get some kind of coupon for CVS, CVS is the one footing the bill on that extra $10 so sears wouldn’t normally care, they wouldn’t even know, so they could not throw a hissy about you getting a deal on a giftcard, because they still get the full $50 on their end, what do they care if CVS gave away $10? CVS doesn’t care because many of the people that came in just to buy that card also will buy a soda or pack of gum, or a last minute gallon of milk, Sears can however say that giftcards are prohibited from use in the offer, if this is not stated in the rules, terms &conditions than are legally bound to accept gift cards. If the law were not written so, after everyone mailed in their rebates they could decide what the biggest contributer was, lets say most people used cash, they could then up & say ” cash purchases are prohibited, this is/was a sears card only rebate” but it sound like this rebate is a little nutty. Useing a little caution never hurt anyone.
I’ve worked ALOT of retail, & these have been my personal exsperiences.
Someone else has asked this, but there wasn’t an answer yet, so I wanted to bring it up. Has anyone had success with using this on socks and underwear? Or does anyone know if they are included as “menswear.” I specifically need socks and underwear for my hubby. I can find other things to spend the rebate on, I’m sure, but if I’m spending $50 it is going to be on something I need!
Unless it specifically says in writing you can not use a gift card I’m not sure how they can exclude it. It’s not like it costs Sears anything and they don’t know I got a deal from CVS (nor should they care since CVS foots the bill). I submitted this morning so we’ll see but if they deny me I’m definitely taking the fight as far as I can.
Also, for the poster who mentioned an activation fee… I know CVS does this on Amex cards but for the Sears card I didn’t pay any activation fee at all. Purchased Sunday and took straight to Sears.
@Stacy McCafferty, I was thinking the same thing and was going to try it anyways. Let us know! =)
For last year’s deal you had to purchase men’s jeans or pants only but could use the gift card for any men’s purchase
@JULIE C., Also, with the gift card I was able to purchase some men’s clearance items
We’ve never done the deal before and can’t really afford to do it if it doesn’t work. However, my husband is a pastor and goes through good-quality dress shirts like you wouldn’t believe. If the gift card they send for the rebate is the same as last year, would I be able to buy long-sleeve dress shirts with it (the rebate gift card)? Any input would be great!
I also called the Sears Rebate Center and talked to two different people who said they consider the gift card a reward certificate. That makes zero sense! A gift card is the same as cash! So I called my local Sears in the Twin Cities (Burnsville to be exact) and talked to the store manager. When I explained the situation she echoed my sentiment that it didn’t make sense. She told me that if my rebate gets denied to bring in the denial letter and she will issue a $50 gift card to me. I would suggest calling the store manager at your local Sears and doing the same thing if you are using a gift card for the rebate.
Like most of you, I too called the rebate number and was told by the supervisor that it would not be honored with the gift card. One person I talked to even said “you can’t pay for a gift with a gift”. Whatever?! So I decided to call the Sears number (800-549-4505) to record my frustration with this offer. The CS rep I got said she did not see where a GC would cause a denial. I told her that the rebate line said a reward certif and GC were the same thing. She said no that is absurd. She said I should go ahead and make the purchases and if I get denied, it will be on record that she said it should not be. Ok, so this is a huge headache and might not be worth it if you have not bought yet. But if you have, you might want to call the Sears direct 800 number to “go on record”.
Oh my goodness I was planning on doing this tonight but after seeing all the trouble people are having I think I am not going to. We can’t really afford to spend $50 if we aren’t going to get the certificate back.
Here is the thoughtful reply from sears cares:
All men’s apparel except for footwear and Land’s End qualify. The first three digits in a Sears’ item number indicate the Division. Division numbers 033, 041, 043 and 045 are included in the rebate. Men’s socks and underwear are Division number 033 and are included. Land’s End products are Division 039 and are not included. (Note: when shopping on Sears.com you need to add the item to your cart and view your cart to see the item number.)
2. Can you use a Sears gift card to pay for the qualifying $50 purchase?
Yes.
3. Can you use other coupons (ex, $5 off $50) and still qualify as long as the total paid out of pocket is $50 or greater?
Yes, as long as the purchase price is $50.00 after discounts and before taxes. A purchase price of $49.99 or less would not qualify. Even clearance items will count towards the $50.00. Please note: coupons and others discounts may not be combined when the Reward Card is redeemed.
4. Is the gift card that you receive as the incentive really good on all Men’s apparel except for Landsend? People who have done the rebate in the past are reporting that many items that most people would think are men’s apparel were not able to be purchased with the incentive gift card.
The reward card is redeemable for the same merchandise categories as in the original purchase. Outerwear, suits, jeans, pajamas, socks, underwear, ties, hats, belts and of course, shirts and pants are all included.
5. Can you make a purchase online, through a site like ebates which offers cash back, and still qualify for the rebate?
Sears customers can qualify on sears.com for the reward card offer. Since ebates is a third party and they make their own offers, the customer should look to them for verification.
Additional Tips:
Be sure to submit your rebate by 07/20/10.
Purchased merchandise must not be returned within its stipulated return period in order to qualify.
I got notice today that my rebate qualified. . . I bought socks, clearance items AND used a gift card I bought as CVS. Hooray! What a relief. I was getting nervous after everyone’s comments. I had no trouble at all!
