Barnes and Noble is currently offering a free download of I Will Carry You by Angie Smith. This is the powerful story of a mother who carried a child deemed “incompatible with life,” and the eternal insights gained from a baby who lived less than three hours on earth.

Thanks, Gina!

I am getting a prompt to enter a credit card as a default for “future purchases.” Is this normal?

Kim May 12, 2010 at 8:23 am

@Adriane, I’ve purchased through B & N before, so I had a credit card on file. When you download the book to your PC, before you can actually read the book you need to “unlock” it using the credit card you entered when you went through the checkout process.

Crystal – thank you for this post. I have 2 beautiful children, but I’ve had 6 miscarriages, the last one a couple of months ago. I haven’t shed any tears over this last loss. I wanted that baby, I don’t know why I haven’t grieved. But, I downloaded this book and I started to read it. It’s exactly what I needed to help me get it all out! Thank you!!!

Yes, I’m getting the same prompt to enter a cc. Not worth it, in my opinion. But Angie Smith is FAB, so I just may pick up a real copy of her book. :-)

Did you try checking out with Paypal? That might work for you.

I didn’t want to enter a credit card number, but I still wanted to read the book, so I put it on hold at my library! I would rather read a paper copy, anyway. Thanks, though. I’d never heard of this book before, and it looks like a neat story.

I’ve been following her blog since she was pregnant. I’m sure it is a well written and inspiring book.

There was an article about her story in the May edition of Homelife. I read the article and almost started crying (I was in public, otherwise I would have bawled). The article was so touching so I bet the book will be even better!

Seeing this post reminded me of a song called “Held” by Natalie Grant. So pretty!

She is an amazing woman and has a blog about her story as well: http://audreycaroline.blogspot.com/

Awesome book!!! I recommomd it to anyone who has lost someone that they were close to. I’ve followed her blog for the last 2 years–what an incredible story. I lost my son 5 years ago in the womb–I only wish there had been a book like this after I lost him.

I’m only halfway through but her story is amazing! Very powerful and moving. Thank you for letting me know about this!

I literally stumbled across her website a few months ago. If you have not been there I encourage you to check it out. Even though I have not dealt with this type of grief I find that at times God uses it to speak to me on another level. You will laugh and cry but most of all you will be inspired by this woman.

I contacted Barnes and Noble about the credit card requirement for an account. I refused to give it. Apparently the card is used to “verify” who is purchasing the book and needed to unlock the book. A “small fee” is charged to the card, to be credited back at the credit card company’s discretion. Thanks for sharing. But I refuse to use a credit card to set up a B&N account.

Sarah May 21, 2010 at 2:36 pm

@Jodi G,
I have not been charged any fee for this free book. I bought the book on my computer, but am reading it on my blackberry. When I downloaded and opened the reader on my blackberry I needed the same credit card to verify my account. It said the card will be kept on file so future e-book purchases can be easily charged to it.
