Office Max is once again offering their very popular free-after-Max-Perks items again! This time, these items are only offered online and I can guarantee they will sell out before the week is over.
Here’s how to get some office supplies for free:
::Sign up for a MaxPerks card here (unless you already have a card). Write down your MaxPerks card number.
::Sign up for an account with ShopAtHome (gives 4% back on Office Max purchases plus a $5 bonus for new sign-ups, but you must earn $20 in rebates before you receive a payment) or Ebates (gives 3% back on Office Max purchases plus a $5 bonus for new sign-ups).
::Search for OfficeMax through ShopAtHome or Ebates and click through to the website.
::Add $50 worth of the items listed here to your cart. (You must purchase $50 worth of items to get free shipping.)
::Checkout and make sure to input your MaxPerks Rewards card number.::Your MaxPerks Bonus Rewards should arrive via an email coupon within 1-2 months of purchasing.
::Plus, your ShopAtHome account or your EBates account will be credited with your rebate. So you’ll end up only paying a few dollars or less out of pocket (for tax on your order) after the MaxPerks Rewards and cashback. (Or, if you are a new sign-up with ShopAtHome or Ebates, you’ll get the $5 sign-up bonus which will actually turn this into a money-maker after the MaxPerks Reward and cashback rebate!)

What are MaxPerks? Do you get a check back or is a GC that you have to spend at OfficeMax?
I just signed up for my MaxPerks account, but the email they sent and the personal info page do NOT have the account number on it. Any thoughts?
I tried registering for MaxPerks but it is asking whether it’s for a business or a teacher…which one should I sign up for?
thank you!
I signed up as a teacher, I teach my kids.
they gave me my maxperks # in the confirmation page when signing up. I just copied it from there.
thanks for the great deal!
I signed up for MaxPerks last time they did an offer like this (my husband is a teacher), and it worked out really well. You don’t get to redeem your perks until the next quarter, but when you do, it is quite simple. We also ended up finding a really amazing deal on a new printer we needed quite badly, and between the MaxPerks rebate from the items we bought and the Perks from the printer, I was able to use one of the coupons they send Perks members to get a Coolpix digital camera for almost nothing OOP. If you can wait and not forget to redeem your perks, it’s a good rewards program.
I have done MaxPerks deals in the past but have found dealing with OfficeMax more of a hassle than it was worth – missing orders that never arrived, disorganized customer service and just a chaotic, frustrating experience in general. Maybe it was just me and others will have better luck, but for now I’m sticking with Staples Rewards.
So you have to spend 50.00 up front??
Thank you so much! I wouldn’t have known about this otherwise. I don’t check my “junk” e-mail account often enough to see these offers. I just rolled some of my Maxperks rewards from the last time they offered the paper, etc. We have been in need of 3 ring binders for homeschool, but I couldn’t justify the cost of them in the store. This helps out a great deal. Thank you again! ( c :
I did a previous 10-ream paper case deal on January 16th. I received my paper, but I still haven’t gotten my Max Perks reward… I hope it’s coming soon.
I am unclear on how this deal works. How do you get it for free?
I think this works similar to the staples rewards where you get a check for the “reward items”. So you are getting rewards to spend on a future purchase @ Office Max. You do have to spend the $$ up front.
I don’t know if Office Max is the same but I know the Staples ones can take quite some time.
What is everyone buying? I’d love to know!
I did a similar offer last fall, but then realized it meant that I got the same amount I spent on the item in “Max Perks” which did not translate “dollar for dollar.” In fact I had to earn $500 in Max Perks before I could get a single $25 reward. Their circular said it was like getting it free but it was not like that at all.
@Lisa, In this particular instance, it is dollar-for-dollar. However, usually, the regular rewards are only based on a percentage of how much you spend.
I just placed my order. I ordered a case of paper, a set of the banker boxes, and a set of sharpies (the smaller set of 5 also qualifies for the 100% back and is less money). My total was just over $50, so it qualified for free shipping. My tax was $3.69, so once I get my MaxPerks, I’ll only have $3.69 OOP and will hope for a good deal to ROLL those MaxPerks, similar to the CVS deals with the ECB. I am planning to home school my soon to be 3 year old, so I am sure these items will come in handy. The boxes will be perfect for storing dramatic play items, craft supplies, and other school items. Thanks for sharing this!!!
I got the case of paper, 2 boxes envelopes, and a binder. Just over $50 so I got free shipping.
I tried this twice. Never received the paper. hassle to get refund from them. Called them, they said they would check into it and call me back. Never did! Lost my business!!!!

Can the Max Perks rebates be redeemed on-line?
Yes max perks can be redeemed online, works just like an Office Max gift card.
I’ve had issues with my perks posting properly so I kind of check the statment compulsively after I order something (especially on these special deals). More times then not I’ve had to send an email to get it straightened out.
If you order towards the end of the sale, and it ships the next week you generally don’t get the perks rewards unless you email and complain.
For the person who hadn’t got her rewards from an earlier deal I would suggest you log in and check it out. If they haven’t posted send an email and let them know the problem.
If you have the business rewards you get the rewards monthly and if you have the teachers rewards card you get it quarterly. You get an email notification that the rewards are available and then you have to log into your account to either print or use online. It’s not like Staples or Office Depot that physically mail you something via postal service, it’s all online.
I ordered my Paper Envelopes and Boxes yesterday, I got the paper TODAY! amazed. great deal!
I ordered some of this and paid for part of it with my MaxPerks Rewards I earned last time, hoping to roll it like I do my Extra Bucks at CVS. Well, I found out they don’t give you MaxPerks rewards on things you buy with your rewards so I didn’t get all the rewards I thought I was getting. It would be helpful to add this information to future Office Max posts so we don’t end up ordering stuff and not getting the rewards.
