If you are a teacher or homeschooler, you can sign up for a free copy of a new DVD from the History Channel called AMERICA The Story of Us. This looks like a great freebie if you love history like I do!

Thanks, Mom’s Fun Money!

Speaking of freebies for educators, Adventures in Savings shares about a free Planetarium Software here that she highly recommends.

Just signed up for mine! I homeschool my daughter, so LOVE getting all these freebies! Thanks! I’m adding it to my blog with a link back to you!

Leah March 19, 2010 at 1:47 pm

Thank you so much for sharing this with us! :)

Ellen March 19, 2010 at 1:53 pm

Thank you! We have the entire set of the books (I’m thinking it’s the same thing?) so a free dvd will always be a welcome addition to our homeschool.

Kimberly Efird March 19, 2010 at 1:58 pm

Ok, I must be crazy. How is everyone getting it for free? I teach fifth grade social studies and would love a copy.

The Prudent Homemaker March 19, 2010 at 2:30 pm

@Kimberly Efird,

The Principal of your school must sign up. The limit is one dvd per school or homeschool.

Cyndi March 19, 2010 at 2:11 pm

Thank you, Crystal! Love it for educating my kiddos!

Kelly March 19, 2010 at 2:14 pm

The website says it’s for “accredited public, private and home schools.” Does this mean a homeschool would have to be officially “accredited” to be eligible?

Thanks!

Just a word of caution. I have not seen this DVD. However, this is not a Christian organization that is producing this. Lots of revisionist history is being pushed from a liberal agenda. So please view it with your children and question anything that does not seem correct.

Suzanne is 100% correct. I could not have said it any better.
Watch it with your kiddos if you do receive a copy.

The Prudent Homemaker March 19, 2010 at 3:40 pm

@Nicole Z.,
They also said you can preview it in April when it airs on the History Channel. So, if you have cable, you can check it out then as well.

@Suzanne, Revisionist history can definitely come from all sides. The best way to learn anything, imo, is to look at all sides and carefully analyze the biases that might come with the information (i.e., critical thinking).

@Suzanne,

Suzanne

Uh believe it or not, there are Christian liberals. It would be revisionism to suggest otherwise.

You are 100% correct. In order to understand it’s always a good idea to try and understand as many perspectives as possible. Not just those perspectives that you find initially compelling.

I really want this one! Too bad I’m not a homeschooler;)

lisa March 19, 2010 at 3:08 pm

fyi- I just realized (after I signed up for it) that they are sending these in the summer (in time for fall classes). My daughter isn’t going to be homeschooled next year…

Lisa in GA March 19, 2010 at 3:40 pm

I have tried signing up for this multiple times and keep getting a “servlet exception” message after I click submit. Any ideas?

onemotherslove March 19, 2010 at 4:18 pm

I got the same message as Lisa in GA, so I don’t know if it went through or not! Oh, well…

HS Mama March 19, 2010 at 4:45 pm

It gave me an error message a few times, then finally worked, so keep trying! :)

mindy March 19, 2010 at 8:56 pm

I can’t seem to find the link for it on their website. Where do I sign up to get it?

legendswife March 20, 2010 at 5:27 am

@mindy, Hi Mindy,
I posted something on this a few days ago. I have a direct link and another link of the preview to the DVD.
God Bless

I could not get the page to work to get the DVD. I put in all my information, but it kept giving me an error page when I submitted. What am I doing wrong?
