by Crystal on February 12, 2010

Most Kroger stores have Purex Detergent priced at around $2.69 when you buy 10 items as part of the Daytona Event. When you purchase two Purex detergents, you’ll get a catalina for $4 off your next order. Here’s how you can get the Purex for free or almost-free:

Buy 2 Purex detergents at $2.49 to $2.69 (plus 8 other items in the Daytona promotion)
Use 2 $0.35/1 coupons from the 1/10 RedPlum insert (doubled)
Spend approximately $3.98 out of pocket, Get $4 catalina good on your next order

You can roll this deal, if you have extra coupons using the catalina earned on one order to purchase more detergent thus lowing your out of pocket costs.

Thanks, Michele!

I did this deal yesterday in Northern GA, after seeing it here on MSM, and it did NOT print me a Catalina. I was rather disappointed.

Jennifer February 12, 2010 at 11:00 am

@melissa c, I’ve done this deal four times this week and received a catalina every time, maybe yours just failed to print?

Allison February 12, 2010 at 11:49 am

Is this available nationally?

Rhonda February 12, 2010 at 1:50 pm

@Allison,

catalina printed in Southern Indiana, 2/12

I did this deal in southern Ohio yesterday two times. My first two did not produce a catalina (machine was blinking?) My second order also with 2 bottles DID produce a catalina. I went to customer service, they just gave me $4.00 cash, she said she could not make it print a coupon but another CS clerk did it for me last week when the catalina machine was out of paper. Customer service yesterday tried to tell me that there maybe a limit of 1 catalina, I stated that it should have printed on my first two then and none for the second order if that was the case. It was all friendly :) Couponing has been so great for our family saves us lots of dollars, teaches patients and dillagence. My MIL says if you mind your pennies the dollars will take care of themselves. Thanks for listening (reading) ladies. Thanks for the awsome blog. Keep up the good work everyone :) .

Does the fabric softener count – I have a TMF rebate offer for Purex fabric softener…..nice to work that in somehow.

I did this deal this morning, however, I bought 3 @ $2.19ea (after the megadeal savings), used 3ea .35q’s that doubled to .70, then got back a $5 OYNO catalina. I combined it with the Pillsbury Grands deal… bought 4 @ .99ea (after megadeal savings), used 2 of the $1 off 2 q’s and got back $4 catalina. Spent $6.43 for the 7 items afer q’s and got back $9 OYNO. Awesome deals!!!!

did this 4 times…..the last did not print a catalina and haven’t had a chance to go back to customer service since it was after hours (houston, tx)

Susan February 12, 2010 at 2:18 pm

Catalina didn’t print for me either. Is there a website where we can find these catalinas?

Angela February 12, 2010 at 2:58 pm

I have done this deal for 5+ times. Each time it has provided a catalina without incidence. I am stocked up for the year and then some. I am quite excited about it.

Amy February 12, 2010 at 3:19 pm

I am in central Louisiana and I just did this several times and the catalina printed every time and I just rolled it to the next transaction. The Purex is 2.49 before the discount and my $.35 cent q’s that I printed tripled! This has to be the best deal on detergent that I have found in a few years!!!

This deal is good in the TX/LA region ($2.19 after mega sale). You can see other items that are free or money makers in the TX/LA region this week to combine here http://thriftyjenny.blogspot.com/2010/02/kroger-deals-210-216.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ThriftyJenny+%28Thrifty+Jenny%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher if you need a few things to reach the 10 item total. Also if your Catalina does not print and customer service can’t help you for some reason you can call Catalina’s customer service number and give them the info from your receipt 1-888-8COUPON (1-888-826-8766). It is best to wait until the next day to do this though because it take a day for them to be able to access your receipt information from a store’s computer in my experience.

Is it ROLLING?

Natasha February 12, 2010 at 7:24 pm

The softener is not included.

Mel February 12, 2010 at 8:50 pm

I did this deal today 4x (in IL) it worked fine. However the cat was very slow printing. I mean if i didn’t expect it and I wasn’t there doing separate transactions in the first place, I would have walked away from the self check out without my cat.

Jennifer February 12, 2010 at 9:55 pm

I spoke too soon. Did two seperate transactions this evening and neither produced the 4.00 catalina. =( Guess I’ll be calling the 1888 number as the lady in customer service said she knew nothing about the catalina.

Tina February 12, 2010 at 10:27 pm

This deal worked for me at Ralph’s in Southern California. Great deal!

Megan February 13, 2010 at 9:19 am

My husband did this deal at our Kroger (Indianapolis) last night and it worked like a charm. I only had the $1/2 MQs and didn’t do the megasaver event, but they were still free – just had to pay tax!

Susan February 13, 2010 at 2:56 pm

I did this deal 3 times in Memphs, TN yesterday and the catalina printed each time. I had to check out three seperate times (of which the sales clerk wasn’t real happy, but there was no one behind me).

I also got a catalina for Pilsbury Grands (also on the 10 item sale). I bought 6 two times. Once it printed a $4 catalina and the other time it didn’t.

sum pickens February 16, 2010 at 10:40 am

no catalinas in dfw texas

tried multiple times
at least the pillsbury catalinas print, but you have to ask the clerk for them lest they forget
