What is the reason for them wanting a photo of my family?
They will not accept you unless you post one. I’m not too sure about that but thanks for the offer.
I think it’s for the review, but I’m not entirely sure. Anyone else have a better idea? I thought it was a little odd, too.

The reason they want the picture is stated in the rules…..
By participating in this Promotion, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules, Zondervan’s determination of the first 5,000 entrants, which shall be final, and waive any right to claim ambiguity in these Official Rules.
Acceptance of a BMB(Busy Moms Bible) constitutes permission to use the recipient’s name, likeness, and biography for purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation, except where prohibited by law.

It seems you have to upload a family picture in order to “complete” the entry form, which seems very odd to me. Not really comfortable with that…would have loved to get this otherwise.

@Dawn, To Dawn, as I understand it, you cannot enter the competition for the personal assistant (which you do by reviewing) but they did accept my submission for the free Bible (I’m in FL) perhaps I am mistaken though
I am excited! Uploading a family photo isn’t my favorite, but a daily devotional is cool.
I’m like everyone else and a little wary about uploading the photo but it looks like a really cool bible!
I chose a photo that wasn’t a direct shot of our faces. I thought I would be compliant yet discreet.

Me too. I used a wedding photo of me and my hubbies backs…I don’t like putting my children’s pics online. =D Hope it works!
I signed up and it stated that after verifying my information, the bible would be on its way. I didn’t have a problem putting my picture in it because I will be honest when I review the product just like any other survey I do. Thanks for letting me know about this promotion because I have always struggled with getting my bible reading in my daily tasks.
I just found this article about the bible. I hope it helps with verifying that is should be okay to upload the pics. It sounds legit.

I signed up this freebie! Will I have to write a review on my blog about it or is that only if I want to enter the personal assistance service sweepstakes? I planned on giving this bible away since I am not yet a mom. The picture thing bothers me a little, but it is a picture that I already had put on my blog, so it’s not like it isn’t already out there for others to see.
Thanks! A lot of my family pics are public on facebook anyway so I don’t see what the big deal is. I don’t have a problem if a Bible publisher wants to use my pic in their advertising.
yeah I agree.. I thought it was odd that they wanted a pic of my family.. but I went ahead and uploaded one anyway.. hope that wasn’t the wrong choice.. surely it will be ok.. did anyone else upload one of their families?
@Kamber, I put in a pic of my son from when he was 4 or 5 months old, so he looks nothing like that now. I figured that would be okay.
It accepted my registration without uploading a photo.
just upload a photo of a misc. family pic from the internet (I did a google search…)
I uploaded a photo of us all in our ski gear… so even though it is still my family, we cannot be identified, lol! thanks for the great find, linked back to you!
I did not have to upload a photo. But I filled this out from my phone, so I couldn’t upload on anyways. I got accepted just fine, and saw no issues with my being in NY either.

As a Christian mother and teacher I will just say that Zondervan (the maker of this particular bible) is an incredible company. Our family buys a ton of devotional items and books from them. As an educator I have purchased a great deal of materials by the company and have even received free items from them before. They are a huge company with a Christian background, not some strange fly by night website. I completely trust them!
I uploaded a family photo, the way I see it, if my family can be used to promote the word of God, then so be it! And if they do anything shady with the photos… well let’s just say I’m leaving it in God’s hands, I just hope to gain something from the awesome blessing of this free bible! I hope to be able to use this tool and share it with other busy moms I know!
It wouldn’t let me register without the photo, but I just got a new computer and don’t have any pics on there yet, so I just put a preloaded photo from the computer of a group of penguins. If they don’t accept it, oh well. Not that desperate.

Thank you for posting. I was not comfortable putting a picture of my family so I put one of my son covering his eye’s. I hope they accept it. It says that once they verify I will be sent a copy so we will see.

I just received my copy today 3/2/10! I am blown away and so excited to receive this! I JUST looked at a copy at a local store and talked myself out of it. God has a way of working doesn’t He? I too was a bit worried about posting a picture of our family, but I decided to post a picture of us dressed up in costumes!
