That is a great excel sheet. I found a program online called budget5000 it is completly free and it is web based so you can look at it from anywhere.

Thanks so much for posting this! I just spent an hour on the computer last night trying to find one online and design one that I liked and could use easily! :) This one is great!

I’m not sure what all this excel program offers, but my husband and I joined mint.com and it has been great. It is an online program that tracks all of your spending for you and it notifies you weekly about your budget and if you go over in any category.

Is there a way I can copy coupons from on line and NOT install a printer? everytime I have to download a printer I end up going to Staples to have my computer fixed.

For anyone who has already downloaded this – is this best used for only one category of item…i.e. groceries?

I was a little confused about how to best manage the “goal/variance” element.

Thanks for any advice;)

This is great..looking tinto Dave Ramsey as well!

Angela January 3, 2010 at 10:20 am

Claire, Angela here from The Coupon Project. I created this spreadsheet specifically to track my grocery and drugstore savings and spending last year. I wanted to create a tool to see specifically how I was doing on saving in this one particular area.

I have another spreadsheet I use to manage our overall budget categories.

The Savings Tracker is a helpful tool if you’re interested to learn just how much coupons and sales are making a dent each month. Hope that helps!

Alex January 3, 2010 at 1:26 pm

Always good to have these type of tools, the trick is now to utilize it.
Hopefully 2010 is a year where people get their jobs and houses back.
Having a good plan is the first step.

Beth January 3, 2010 at 3:53 pm

Thanks so much! I’ve been trying to do this for our groceries (with a little less overall detail) within our overall budget sheet, but it gets pretty cumbersome. I really like that this is so detailed and yet efficient. Thanks!

Brendal January 3, 2010 at 9:32 pm

Woo! This is awesome! Thank you for sharing! :)

Allison January 4, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Angela or anyone with an answer…. I am looking for a free budget spreadsheet I can use to log and monitor our monthly budget. I love the Dave Ramsey version but don’t have the extra money monthy to pay for it. Does anyone know of a free site that provides one?

John January 10, 2010 at 11:44 am

Where exactly do I download this program to and how do I open it? Forgive me if this is a stupid question but I am not great with excel. Thanks.
