I had a little extra time this afternoon so I put together a few transaction ideas for those of you planning to hit the Walgreens Four-Day Sale.
Please note that if your Walgreens requires you to have the same amount of items as coupons, you'll want to throw in an extra small filler item (like a candy bar, pencil, or pack of gum) to make sure you have as many items as coupons.
Buy 2 Sudafed Triple Action at $9.99 each
Buy 1 Just for Men Touch of Gray Hair Color
Use 2 $4/1 Sudafed coupons here
Use 1 $3/1 Sudafed in-ad coupon (will take off $6)
Use 1 $2/1 Just for Men coupon here
Your total before coupons would be approximately $26.97 plus tax
After coupons, you'd pay $10.97 and you'd get $6.99 plus $5 in Register Rewards back
Plus, you could submit for the $7 Just For Men rebate here
So you'd get everything free plus you'd be earning around $8 in overage after the coupons, Register Rewards and Rebate (Thanks, Saving with Shellie!)
You could then take the $6.99 Register Rewards and use it to do the following deal (save your $5 Register Rewards from the above transaction for another deal as it won't "roll" and print another $5 Register Rewards for the following transaction if you use it.):
Buy 1 Renu Multi-Purpose Plus Solution Twin-Pack at $9.99
Buy 2 Theraflu at $5 each
Buy 1 Stayfree Feminine Care at $1.99
Buy 1 Conair Brush or Scunci Hair Accessory at $2
Buy 1 Stim-U-Dent (100-pack) at $2
Your total before coupons would be approximately $25.99 plus tax.
Use the $6.99 Register Rewards earned in the above transaction
Use 1 $2/1 Renu coupon here
Use 1 $1/1 Stayfree printable here or here
Use 2 Theraflu $2/1 printable coupon
Use 1 $2/1 Theraflu coupon from the Walgreens Healthy Savings Booklet (will deduct $4)
Spend $9.99 plus tax out of pocket and get back a $9.99 Register Reward, $5 Register Reward, $3 Register Reward, 2 $2 Register Rewards, and 1 $1.99 Register Rewards
So, after the Register Rewards, you'll get everything free, plus you'll be getting approximately $15.98 in overage! Plus, you'll still have a $5 Register Rewards from Transaction #1 left!
So after doing these transactions, you'll be getting 9 products free plus you'll "make" approximately $15 after Register Rewards and the $7 Just for Men rebate!

Thought you would want to know that some of the travel size Renu’s from Target have a coupon in them for $2.50 off any 12 oz or larger Renu. If this works on the twin pack it will be a better deal. Not all of my travel size Renu’s had the coupon, but most of them did, hope this helps.
On the coupon for Just for Men, there are 2 coupons, one for “Just for Men Shampoo-in Haircolor” and the other one “Just for Men Brush-in Color Gel for Mustache, Beard and Sideburns.” I followed the links provided and this is what it printed. The product on sale is “just for men touch of gray hair color.” It is completely different from what is stated on the coupon. If I am wrong, please let me know.
This sounds like a great scenario… if only any of it was in stock at my Walgreen’s. I’ve all but given up on trying to get the deals there.
At my Walgreen’s a Register Reward will not print out if you used a Register Reward to pay. I’ve had this happen several times and the store manager even told me that’s how it works. Is that not true everywhere?
Heidi – I am always able to pay out with RRs and receive RRs. In fact I usually only will buy things with RRs so I can constantly have some going and never have much out of pocket. The only way it won’t work is if you are trying to buy the same thing you got the RRs for. For example today I used RRs from last weeks 4 day sale to pay for everything in this weeks 4 day sale. Those RRs I will use to pay for whatever is offered for RR sale next. Hope that makes some kind of sense. Always have more items than coupons including your RR.
This must be regional, as my Wags said they were not having any 4-day sale. I’m in SE Michigan.
Heidi – you might ask if that is the case or if the RR will not print because you are trying to use on the same product on another transaction. A RR will not print (at my store) if you are using a RR by the same parent company. Just a thought.
I just took a look at the add and there is a limit of 1 on the Sudafed $3.00 coupon(per transaction).
Will the Sudafed PE coupon in the Walgreens ad work for the Sudafed Triple Action?
Heidi, that is definitely not true everywhere. I almost always pay for at least part of my Walgreens transactions with register rewards, and I always get the new register rewards that I’m supposed to. Only once did I not get a RR for the chapstick deal a few months ago, and I returned it later once I had realized that, and the store manager gave me no trouble. I’d have to say, though, after reading a lot of comments in the past about people having trouble at Walgreens, that I shop at an exceptionally good store.
I purchased the touch of gray in jet black-gray (UPC 011509041395) and it rang up at $2.19 but still gave a $7 RR
I saw these deals posted from a link that was posted under the Walgreens deals on this blog, but when I visited my Walgreens I was told that they were not having a four day sale. This may be regional, was there a flyer advertising this sale?
Heidi,
Unfortunately, that has been the case for me too. Although, I still look at the Walgreen’s deals with hope, I only shop at CVS. Maybe this will change for us soon.
Heidi, that’s not how it works, or not exactly. A RR won’t print out if you use a RR from the same manufacturer for it. So if you buy something from Proctor & Gamble, don’t use that RR on another P&G product, but on any other product it will be fine.
I get super annoyed w/ wags and their rr’s! There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why some rr’s don’t print and others do. I even had a manager say that it depends on the register and where it is in the store! How can it be soo complicated? CVS is much simpler- but hey I guess it’s worth another try?!
terrific deal planning! i don’t really need any of those items, but gosh…to make money
I am new to this and I am wondering why you wouldn’t reverse the order of your transactions as you have more register rewards with the 2nd transaction… You could use the 9.99 RR for the 1st transaction and not pay as much out of pocket? Is that right or am I missing something?
Also I cannot get the link for the Theraflu coupon to print-any suggestions?
Thanks for this great site!
I found some Just for Men in the clearance section for $2.19 and it still printed the $7 RR. Made an extra $5 there!!
A fellow coupon-er and myself found clearance Just for Men, for $1.99 and we got a $7 RR. We were so excited, this is the first clearance deal, that we were able to do and have it be a money maker!
So I am a little frustrated. I had all my transactions ready to go and unfortunately my store isn’t participating in the 4 day sale…DE area. But I still went through with the transactions since I had all the coupons (and I was there at 10 when they were closing and they were very nice to me). After 4 transactions I only spent a little over $14 OOP and now have $17 RR…so I guess that’s not too shabby…but I would have rather spent less out of pocket if I could have gotten the Renu, Stayfree, and Conair product on sale like some of you did. Why wouldn’t all the Walgreens have the same sales?!?!?
My register rewards did not print today and the manager said that it was because I used a manufacturer coupon. He said he has seen this happen over the last few weeks.
The just for men rang up at $8.92 for me but shelf price was $7.99-I had to have them override the price to $6.99 and I still got my rr, so watch the prices as they are ringing up.
Where does the $5 RR from your first transaction come from? I thought the total had to be $25 after all coupons in order to get the $5 RR.
Be: I believe that all Just For Men products are considered “shampoo in haircolor.” The coupon worked just fine for me.
For transaction #1, do i need 1 additional item, or 3? Does the in-ad coupon count as 1 or 3 coupons?
Kristen – it’s $25 before coupons!
I have 2 walgreens within 15 minutes of me and one will not print any RRs if you use any RRs to pay, and the other store will as long as it is not for the same item…
By the way, the Walgreens theraflu coupon wouldn’t work for me on the liquid. They said it is only for the Powder.
Any idea where I can get a scanned copy of this $2 Theraflu coupon from the Healthy Savings Book? I have all of the coupons except for this one and would really like to do this deal! Thanks!
Anyone have a deal that doesn’t include medicine? I have more Therflu than we’ll ever use!
How about just food things and personal care products?
Kristen, the $5/$25 coupon that they usually put out requires that your total after all discounts be $25, but this is a RR deal that spits out a $5RR if your total is $25 before coupons, I did it several times yesterday and it works perfectly with coupons.
I used a rebate form for the Touch of Gray probably 4-5 months ago now. Does anyone know if this is an additional one, or will I not get the rebate again?
Nicole — that shouldn’t be the case. From what I’ve heard and seen online it’s really that the management of the stores has little to no idea on how their program actually works. Sometimes they’ll come up with a reason why it’s not giving one, only for the customer to find that the machine is out of paper or broken.
dont’ forget that on the 4 day sale any 9.99 toy is with in-ad coupon 5.99 (limit 3).
i went and used some of my rr’s with this deal (not the one for 5 with any 25 purchase but ones i used to get coke, candy, the hair brushes and barrettes, the eye solution and stayfree pads that i did one previous orders, got 2 $5 rr when i spent the 25 each) along with the tooth/oral b brush deal ( 4/10 with 5rr, had coupon from wags coloring book for $2 off(rang up $4 off since i had 2 sets of 2), and used 2 coupons for $1/2zooth or oralb brushes.) i got them all for $10.72 after tax and the rr’s i used, plus got a $5rr for spending over the 25 amount!
all 3 orders for me today cost about $30, saved over $90 and i still have $24 rr to use!!i got stocking stuffers and toys for christmas! got to love wags!!!
The Sudafed Triple Action is a controlled substance here in Utah. You have to pick it up from behind the counter and you can only buy 1 every few weeks. I don’t know if it is this way everywhere, but you may have problems purchasing 2 boxes of the Sudafed in 1 transaction.
Here is a Star Wars Deal! If you have the $5 off any Star Wars Toy purchase of $20 or more. Walgreens has Free action figure when you buy a lightsabre. Lightsabres are 12.49 each, you get a 10.99 action figure, use your $5 coupon and then you should get a $5 register rewards printed after all is said and done. You may need to buy something small to make sure you are up to $25 before coupons. I bought another Scunci Hairclip.
The sudafed is also a controlled substance in FL, but they allowed me to purchase 2. However, on the in-ad wags coupon for sudafed, it has a limit of 1. The cashier would not even take off $3 for the wags coupon, so I ended up spending $6 more than I anticipated (because I had done the transaction at the pharmacy counter I didn’t want to void the whole thing.) Oh well, nice plan anyway!!!
so what cities are doing these 4 day sales? my local store (in colorado) isn’t offering these sales and does not have register rewards on these products.
regional. walgreens by me did not have the four-day sale….Major Bummer!!!
Don’t forget that if you use the Scunci or the $5/$25 register reward coupons on your next purchase you will not receive any coupons for these on the rollover. I am learning the hard way.
Brandy Karl:
I went to Wags last night and tried the Theraflu deal. The Wags coupon wouldn’t work on the powdered either. I even went and got the exact one pictured and it wouldn’t ring up right. The mgr came over and told her to just do a price adjustment because I had the right stuff. But I have to go back today because she rang it up and voided it so many times, she ended up charging me for it twice. What a hassle.
Since this week’s deals are almost over, I thought I’d let you know about next week’s AWESOME deals. The ad is HUGE and it took me forever to compile it. Check it out here – http://couponkatarina.blogspot.com/2009/12/walgreens-deals-1213-1219.html
Thanks!
If you need any filler for your transactions, I bought 3 Hydrogen Peroxides (on sale 3/$1) since I use it anyway in my homemade cleaning supplies. And that’s adding only $1 to your total but the ability to use 3 more RR’s to pay for your total. This allows me to use up the low-value RR’s I get from previous weeks.
I was also able to purchase 2 Sudafed Triple Action in FL at the pharmacy counter but I WAS able to use the $3 WAGS coupon which took $6 off, the pharmacist did not question it and even seemed unfamiliar with coupons in general but I was happy. So I paid $6.98 OOP for 2 Sudafed which I think were $10.50 each regular price.
