My Target said it is only certain oil refills that count toward the $5 card–they wouldn’t allow the ones that I was getting.

michelle November 10, 2009 at 6:05 pm

instead of the 1.00 off refills coupon could you use the buy 2 refill get 3rd free. I have a bunch of these coupons that don’t expire until next year. This would be a total of 5.00 oop with a 5.00 gift card. Or would I be doing this deal wrong as I am not actually buying the other candles becasue I am using the buy a tin get a refill free????
Thanks
Shelly

These are the same glade tins that have $1.50 off coupons inside most of them. Buy 5 candle tins and use 5 of the $1.50 off 1 coupons inside and they are completely free after coupons and giftcard! A great stocking stuffer for the girls in your family!

Marion November 10, 2009 at 6:25 pm

I am using them as gift for my kids SS and MOPS teachers. It’s the Christmas scents that count towards the gift cards. I found them at 2 Targets near the holiday stuff not with the other Glad candles. So you might ask someone.

Marion November 10, 2009 at 6:40 pm

One more thing….I was able to print the new coupons 5 times.

Trish November 10, 2009 at 6:47 pm

I was going to say you could use the buy 2 get 3rd free on the 3rd refill pack. Should make an even better deal!

Jessica November 10, 2009 at 7:03 pm

Do the tins and refills need to be holiday scents? My Target only has the holiday scents in the glass ones.

Terah November 10, 2009 at 8:42 pm

I am new to all this but am LOVING the deals! I have all these different Glade coupons and am wondering if you can use 5 Buy One Candle holder/One free refill coupon WITH 2 $1.50/2 Jar Candles. If I buy 5 candle holders and 5 refills this would make it a $.50 money maker, right? Or can I not combine these coupons?

Chrys November 10, 2009 at 9:11 pm

I’m thinking 2 tins, 3 refills, and then using 2 $1.50 off one, 2 buy a holder get a refill free, and 1 buy 2 refills get one free, all for $2.50

whitney November 10, 2009 at 9:25 pm

My target said that ONLY the Holiday scents count towards this deal.

Jennifer November 10, 2009 at 9:34 pm

The Target ad in Houston also didn’t include the normal tins and refills. I bought 5 today (two tins, three refills) and wasn’t given a gift card. Bummer! Hope it works for others.

I hadn’t been to CVS for a few weeks and when I went in two days ago, they had a new scanner set up by the front door. It said to scan your Extra Care Card and coupon savings would print for you. When I did, a coupon for $10 off a $30.00 purchase printed. This paired nicely with the shopping list I had that day. Am I the last person to notice these scanners?

Lisa November 10, 2009 at 11:13 pm

Same thing here – I didn’t get the 5 dollar giftcard. It must only be for the holiday scents, and my Target does not have the refills in holiday scents.

Kathie November 11, 2009 at 3:57 am

Yep, I agree with Shelly
instead of the 1.00 off refills coupon could you use the buy 2 refill get 3rd free

Jenna November 11, 2009 at 8:55 am

I thnk the best way to do this deal is to actually get 5 candles AND 5 refills. Use 5 of the B1 candle, get free refill coupons, and use 5 $1.50/1 candle (found in the candles themselves) You get 5 candles and 5 refills and 2 $5 giftcards. My target stores here (in Texas) let you do as many as you want in one transaction, you still get the gc after every 5 items.

Jennifer November 11, 2009 at 9:05 am

I asked at Target if I could use the “buy 2 refills and get one free” with the “buy a tin get a refill free” to get 2 tins and 3 refills, but they said I couldn’t do that. The did let me use 2 “buy a tin get a refill free” with 3 “$1.50 off” that are found in the tins to get 2 tins and 3 refills for $3.xx Also–it’s only the holiday scents that work for this deal.

sonya November 11, 2009 at 10:01 am

hi,i went to target near perimetermall but they dont accept the couons that is they say if i pic the tins i will get only $5 gift card but i can not use buy one glade tin get one refill free.
when my hubbi tried in different target they did not give him $5 card they are telling there is no figt card fir tins.
the location in which my hubbi bought the tins he tried to see the deal in self scann first but the system shows no gift card.
many are telling that we can buy tins also the paper ad shows the same but not one in the store says the same.
truthfully i am telling the fact.
i do not know what to do?

Sarah November 11, 2009 at 10:13 am

I just went to Target and they are having issues with getting the tins in, but I found one and was able to add 2 refills and 2 candles…after the gift card I got each for $.20 because I have a $1.50 off 1 scented oil holder and off 2 candles. The gift card is only for the holiday scents, I just had to deal with that at my store, but they just called back and asked someone to bring up a holiday scented pack for me.

Becca November 11, 2009 at 10:18 am

I’ve been to 2 targets & asked them about it – only the holdiay scents, and I haven’t been able to find more than 2 tins at either place, no refills. Lots of the glass candles though. So maybe don’t plan a whole trip without calling ahead or something?

Rebekah November 11, 2009 at 10:39 am

I tried this, but Target said only the Holiday candles qualified for the $5 rebate

anna/gbmom2407 November 11, 2009 at 12:06 pm

I just got back, I bought two tins (holiday scent) and three refils (holiday scent). I used two buy a tin get a refil free and two $1 a refill. Total $12.50- $5.00 gift card- $7.00 in coupons= $.50 total — printed and sent out SC Johnson’s mail in rebate $5.00 = $4.50 money maker (of course not counting the stamp). My target had an endcap full of the scents that were valid on the gift card deal.

Julianne Hendrickson November 11, 2009 at 12:55 pm

I went and got 2 tins, 2 refill packs, and 2 4 ounce candles for 1.00! I used two 3.50 coupons, (2) buy a tin, get a refill pack and (2) 1.50 off a candle tin!

My target isn’t doing gift cards, but that was a good enough deal for me!

Mariah November 11, 2009 at 3:55 pm

I went today and the sign clearly says the $5 gc is only when you purchase holiday scents. My target had no tins and no refills. I still came out okay though.

CJ November 11, 2009 at 7:01 pm

My Target didnt have any holiday scents tins so the best I could do was 4 jar candles and one refill for $12.50 – $4.00 in coupons – $5 gift card = 5/$3.50. Good enough for me! I got all Bayberry Spice scent, it’s lovely :)

Amy November 12, 2009 at 8:37 am

I’ve done this deal a bazillion times. at Kroger stores (and reportedly KMart) there were blinkies (they are gone at my stores now) for b1 scented oil candle g1 refill free. inside the glass holders is a $2/2 glade scented oil products…. with no beeps i could use 5 $2/2 and 5 B1G1 coupons for. PLUS $10 in gift cards back. PLUS then submit for the $5 SC Johnson rebate.

Buy 5 holders + 5 refills = $25.00
- 5 $2/2
- 5 b1g1
for a total of $2.50 + tax PLUS you get $10 in gift cards back. Then submit for $5 rebate.
= $12.50 money maker

Jen November 12, 2009 at 10:02 am

I am glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t get this deal to work. I was frustrated. I am going to try again after work hoping shelves have been restocked with the holiday scents.

onemotherslove November 12, 2009 at 5:53 pm

I bought 2 tins & 4 refills (because I had another coupon that I used) but they said the gift card was only for the jar candles.

Angi November 13, 2009 at 12:14 pm

THIS DEAL ONLY WORKS ON HOLIDAY SCENTS – THEY USUALLY HAVE IT ON THE END CAP. WILL WORK WITH TINS OR GLASS CANDLES.

I’d love to do this deal, but unfortunately, when I *did* finally find the candle tins at Target, someone had taken all the coupons out of them! :(

Liz Stewart November 14, 2009 at 10:08 am

I tried this deal yesterday (TWICE!!) at the Olathe,KS Target and had a horrible experience with it. The first time I went through the check out, I tried buying 1 tin, 2 refills, and three jar candles. The area I found them was labeled with price stickers that all said “the candles in this display” were all the valid candles, scents and sizes for the $5 gift card promo. At the check out, my gift card never printed out, so my friend suggested we go to customer service and get it over there. The lady at customer service was VERY rude in attempting to tell me why I didn’t get the gift card printed out, a variety of reasons such as not all the holiday scents were included in the promo, I had to buy 4 tins in order to “activate” the promo and then ten seconds later telling me the tins were not included in the promo. I still have no clue where she was getting these “rules” from. So I called the store manager and logged a complaint about how I was treated at customer service. He told me to come back into the store later that night (last night), pick out the candles I was wanting and if there was any issue with it, he would override the system and get me the gc. We went back in (my friend went with me too! She’s awesome!) and picked out 1 tin, 2 refill, and 3 jar candles. Again, no gc. While we were still at the cash register, the cashier called over a manager to see why the gc never was prompted. The manager told us it was only certain scents that were included in the promo. The cashier ran through the candles AGAIN, to find out which ones prompted the gc and found out the REFILLS DO NOT prompt the gc. It’s an issue of Target not correctly labeling their end cap display for the promo correctly. Nothing was out of place on the end cap; we had specifically picked out scents that were labeled as included in the promo on the end cap stickers. In addition to that, we asked an employee who happened to come by and straighten out the end cap if the candles we had picked out were labeled correctly and were indeed included in the promo. We got a “yes” for all the candles, scents and sizes we had picked out. In the end we did get the gc but had to put the refills back and get one jar candle. Hopefully this was just a case of unclear wording and Target will learn to label their future promotions correctly.

Tamika November 14, 2009 at 11:05 pm

I had no issues with this gift card promo and I’m sorry that some of you did. I was able to get 6 refills and 4 glass holders for a total of $2.91 ($1.45 for the candles + $1.46 tax). So, I used a gift card to pay for the candles and then received two $5 gift cards from this purchase = $7.09 MM! My Target is brand new and they are GREAT about taking coupons. I’m not sure why they are telling you that you only get a gc when you buy the holders, because that’s not true. As long as it is a holiday scent, you should get a gc. Oh…here are the coupons I used:

4 – Buy holder, get refills free
5 – $2.00 off 2
1 – Buy 2 refills, get 1 free
1 – $1.00 off refill

Not sure how I was able to use 11 coupons for 10 items. I never try to cheat the system. I think I gave them the last coupon by accident (it was behind all the others in my coupon organizer), but it worked anyway. Now I can submit for the SC Johnson rebate and everyone has nice a nice lil stocking stuffer, too!

Connie November 15, 2009 at 3:33 pm

Just curious if I’m missing something re: the SC Johnson $5 Rebate. It says limit 3 rebates per household, BUT wouldn’t being able to send this in with multiple items purchased be impossible since they will only accept the *original dated receipt* ?

As many people here reported I did the Target glade candle tin deal…I bought 10 items between the candles and the refills. So I would only be able to claim 3 of them for this entire purchase because they want original dated receipts, right?

Amber November 21, 2009 at 3:50 pm

Ladies, the best way to tell if something is part of a gift card promo is to scan it at the price find machine. When you scan it on the right hand side it will say $5.00 gift card. This works with all gift card offers.

I did this with each item I bought and had no problem.
