New Target deals and new coupon system

by crystal on November 17, 2009

Target rolled out a new coupon system this week and discontinued their old system which allowed unlimited prints. I'm a wee bit sad about this as I love the wonderful deals at Target and I've loved being able to get a few more than two of each deal.

But that's life and I'm not going to complain about it! Instead, I'm going to be grateful for all the great deals I've been able to get at Target in the past and be thankful that they are still readily allowing you to print two of each coupon per computer. And the good news is that this will allow there to be more deals to go around for everyone!

Go here to check out the new coupons available. And here are some good deal match-ups with these coupons (Thanks to Moms by Heart!):

I wonder if this will apply to the Target kisoks since that’s where I print my coupons at.

Gina November 17, 2009 at 7:16 am

Can we still use our coupons from before if we already printed them?

lee November 17, 2009 at 7:40 am

Delmonte vegetables on sale .45 a can, use the target coupon for $1/6 and the coupon from this weeks RP for $1/8 =$1.60 for 8 cans or .$20 each

lee November 17, 2009 at 7:41 am

you can no longer print at the kiosk!

You’re right Crystal .. this is a huge disappointment, however, as you said, I am definitely thankful for what I have already snagged at Target in the past & still very thankful for coupons and for YOU this holiday season with keeping all of us up to date on everything. :) I follow a few blogs, however, you are my absolute favorite!

With people walking away with ten or more wipes a pop, I can’t say I’m surprised. I’m only surprised that it took this long. I’m a little disappointed that people can’t self-limit, but at least this puts everyone on a more equal footing.

Erin November 17, 2009 at 7:58 am

I would also like to know if coupons we had printed before can still be used. Does anyone know?

Good Morning Crystal,
Thank you so much for sharing this update and your thoughts on this change. Do you know if there will be a print limit (2) on these coupons?

I personally am having a problem getting my coupons to print? HMMM I’ll have to try on another computer.

The DelMonte coupon can be stacked with a manf. coupon..so I really want that one!

Del MOnte Vegetables $ .45
Minus Manf. $1.00/8
Minus Target $1.00/6

So for six cans they would be ONLY 7/$ .70 THAT is GREAT….Almost as great as the Tissue deal I sent you…Oh, talking about tissues…The Dec. All YOu Magazine has $ .75/1 as well. So EVEN more $ .25 Tissues!!!

bye…every day is like Christmas in the World of Coupons!!!! There is something positive in the Target Change!! Six Can of Vegetables for ONLY $ .70 Yahoo!!!

Deb~ Frugal Living And Having Fun November 17, 2009 at 8:01 am

OH…It is only $ .10 a can if you buy (8) which is really what you would have to do. Still a HOt deal….I want to go now, but I have to be responsible and do some things around the house!! “smile”

From what I can see, the Del Monte fruit coupon is $1/4 fruit items, not $1/1, so this does not make the $1.89 fruit cups such a great deal.

Deb~ Frugal Living And Having Fun November 17, 2009 at 8:13 am

Hey I was so excited my math was wrong..”smile”.It is more like
$1.60 for (8) cans Which is $ .20 a can…STill Awesome!!

OH…I’m so excited…I just got my printer to work Yahoo…They let me print (2) as per the guidelines, so I am going to get 16 cans of vegetables for ONLY

Deb~ Frugal Living And Having Fun November 17, 2009 at 8:14 am

OH! PLEASE delete my BAD MATH!!! LOL

I still think it’s a bummer – I can understand limiting someone to maybe no more than 10 prints (seriously, you go through a lot of baby wipes), but 2? Meh – the Targets around here are a bit of a hassle with coupons anyway. I’ll probably just price match at Walmart now if I feel so inclined. I just don’t think some of these stores actually expected people would USE coupons – the shock and horror of it all! ;)

I’m just wondering what else they’ll limit in the future – actual manufacturer coupons?

chavaun leblanc November 17, 2009 at 8:39 am

Any idea when this takes effect? I bought 4 packs of up & up wipes last night. Any idea how it will effect coupon generator sites like organic grocery deals?

Erin November 17, 2009 at 8:43 am

Well, Target coupons have always said “limit one coupon per transaction,” and so many people either disregarded it (when the cashier didn’t care) or did multiple transactions as a way to get around it.

I don’t think Target meant to subsidize one family with ten packs of wipes. They’d rather ten people use the coupon for one pack of wipes each, in the hopes that at least some of those ten people will actually purchase those wipes at some point in the future. (And that’s not to mention the many people who got significantly more than ten!)

One freebie is nice, so I’m certainly not complaining about a two coupon limit. At least when we go in the store and they’re sold out of something, we know it wasn’t just one person doing the damage.

Amanda November 17, 2009 at 8:47 am

How is it abuse??? If they allow you to print as many as you like, I don’t think it’s “abuse” to print as many as you’d like to purchase.

Alisia November 17, 2009 at 8:48 am

But if you print out two of the coupons and look at the bar code the numbers are the same. So why can’t you make coopies of them? There’s no stopping someone from doing that. I do think some limits need to be in place but 2 is extreme. Think about the people that go in there for those items and buy even more. Like I tend to do. I have a lot of coupons for the wipes printed out but only do a couple at a time because I have a daycare and that adds up.

Whitney November 17, 2009 at 9:00 am

I’m new to this and I thought the wipes things was a huge deal. It’s bad to print more to print several if I plan to spend the money? But I thought y’all bought more than one newspaper, so why is that bad?

Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude. I’m still learning this and that doesn’t make sense. I got 10 the last time I was in Target and nobody blinked an eye. That’s abusing the system?

Sherri November 17, 2009 at 9:07 am

I was trying to explain to a friend’s hubby about my free Ocean Spray Cranberry juice at walgreens last week. He just couldnt understand why i would limit myself to only 4 of something FREE. I was telling him that i try not to be too demanding or send up red flags when i am already getting such an awesome deal. His argument was that the coupons are legit, and the deal is legit, so he would just talk to a manager if it were an issue. Anyhow, I found out that after 2 walgreens stops, he was the proud owner of 30 bottles of cranberry juice. I tend to think that is a bit excessive…legit deal or not.

Personally, 2 coupons per computer is fine with me, I have a computer at work and one at home so i can get 4 of each and if it is an item of something we will use in excess, I get friends and family to print some out for me. My target isnt super coupon friendly anyhow, so i always play it safe there anyway so i dont think this change will bother me. Walgreens is about my favorite coupon taker, they are hassle free and the cashiers are always accomodating.

Liza November 17, 2009 at 9:19 am

I totally agree with Alisia. I’m new to this as well, but every time I go to one of your guys’ blogs I see these pictures of your recent shopping trips. The people who bash others for using the same coupons to get multiple items are the same who have a table packed with five cranberry juices, 10 wipes and six cans of gravy. Or the ones who go to CVS and Walgreens and stack up on all these glucose meters and toiletpaper. Honestly, do you guys all have high blood sugar levels, or is this really another way of cheating the system to get reward points? Think about it.
