Freezer Cooking Day #2: Starting at 8:00 a.m. instead

by crystal on November 4, 2009

Freezer

So I said I was going to start at 1:30 p.m. again today, but after going to bed so exhausted last night, I decided to revamp my plan for today and begin cooking at 8:00 a.m. when I'm fresh and energized. I should have known better than to attempt a big marathon cooking session in the afternoon when I'm usually tired and ready to put my feet up! You live and learn, don't you?

Hopefully I'll be able to do a better job of taking pictures and live-blogging today as a result of starting earlier. That just didn't happen yesterday while I was madly dashing around the kitchen trying to make it through my list in four hours.

First, though, I must clean up my messy kitchen. And then I'll start in on my list for today!

I'll be back with an update soon.

Yippe! I can’t wait to follow your cooking frenzy! You keep me pepped up while I’m at the office. I take frequent peeps at your progress. :) Have fun!

Good for you being willing to change your plans to fit what will actually work FOR YOU!!! Too many times I make plans and then feel guilty about changing them around when they just don’t work like expected! Best wishes for a productive and smooth-running morning! You’re a constant source of encouragement to me as I have an almost 4 year old, 2 year old, and expecting baby 3 in February! Keep up the good work!

Love the waffle recipe, it is my altime favorite. I always make it for special treats though and buy eggos for every day. I am a complete newbie to couponing, family cooking, etc and LOVE your website. My waffle maker makes gigantic waffles, so I am putting a smaller one on my black Friday watch list to make them for every day.
BTW, if you know anyone who goes to Honduras on mission trips the vanilla is super cheap there. I am a firm believer that the more vanilla the better.

You are truly amazing. I was happy getting two meals in the freezer yesterday. I have 4 to go today. (I cheat and use Schwans pre-cooked chicken for lots of meals.) I love your recipe for the freezer potatoes. I’ll have to try that next month!

yay!!!! :)

I have a question.. How in the world do you store all your food? How many Freezers do you have? :)

I hope you get a lot done!

So fun to ‘watch’ you work! I’m enjoying my freezer meals right now. Along with my 3 1/2 week old baby boy! He’s #3 for us too, so I really get inspired by your example, since we’re almost in the same shoes!

Hope your day goes great and you get through your list!

How do you keep your casseroles and other meals that you freeze from getting freezer burn?

I think it is great that you are constantly re-evaluating your choices to see what works best for you.

In honor of your freezer cooking day, I have a post for cooking tips/tricks….if anyone wants to share come on over to http://www.frugalhudsonvalley.blogspot.com and leave a comment!

I just whipped up a batch of your waffles, thanks for the recipe. I had a question though. Do you put salt in your recipe? All the other recipes I have include salt. Thanks

Have you frozen the farmhouse chicken before? Does it thaw out well?
Thank you!
