Crystal, I got really excited about this diaper deal on the Fischer Price Diapers at Toys R Us. I posted to my readers on my own blog about it as well. I went there this morning and the manager knew nothing of the sale. I pulled up the ad on my iPhone and showed it to him, but he said some of the “door busters” were online deals only. The only in store ones are marked with a red star. I was really disappointed! He did give me the deal anyway, but I really hate to post things to my readers that are not going to work. Do you know anything else about this? Obviously, it’s almost 1 pm, so it will be over soon. If you know more, please let me know.

I could not agree more! I think Black Friday has some great deals for people who are used to paying retail, but for those of us who always shop for rock bottom prices, it’s just not all that and here’s the proof: this year I decided to really follow the BF deals because we want a TV. So I’ve been looking at every BF sale paper as they come out. In the process of doing that, I discovered an incredible deal at Best Buy on a fantastic TV with a free blue ray player, free delivery and setup, and 36 month interest free financing. It’s already ordered, and will be delivered to me on Christmas Eve. So there you go! No fighting crowds and no stress! And I don’t have to lug it home. Also, last year I got on Walmart.com in the middle of the night on BF (I had a new baby so I was up anyway), and they had the exact same deals as were in the store, so I did buy a camera. Easy, quick, and I have to say it made me very smug. I will probably go out and drink coffee and people watch at the mall just for fun.

Love Black Friday, they usually do have the best big ticket prices of the year during that day. You just have to have a plan (you do this on the day before) and no casual shopping. If you go in clueless, you don’t have any fun and get frustrated. I have been doing this for 20 years, it’s a game for me. I go with my mom and brother too so it’s a fun family time.

I’ve used these diapers before from Toys R Us (they were free when you bought Fisher Price toys) and LOVED them. I think they’re better quality than Huggies, but don’t know if its worth a couple dollars savings waiting in line for that long….and that early. I’m gonna keep my coupons and wait for another great deal that’s not at 3am!

My family has been doing this since I was a baby. It is a great time. A few tips for newbies, if there is something you have to have you better buy it before or get there hours early. I did the KB Toys as well one year. It was a nightmare. I do not go to Toys R Us, Walmart and a few others. It is just not worth it to me. Someone gets hurt at Walmart every year. Just wait they will be on the news. You have to know what you want, know where it is of possible and get out of there. I never have anything on my list that I would be devastated if I didn’t get. If you end up in line for a while don’t worry about and have a good time. There will be plenty of nice people to talk to.

I would rather pay a few dollar MORE than not have to go out on Black Friday. Regardless though, I agree with you Crystal … I haven’t even seen anything worth it. It always seems like the “off” brands or at least not the top models that are the deals to lure you in (at least with electronics which seem to be the big draw on Black Fri.). It’s great if you’re looking for something generic and don’t care what the brand is, but it’s usually not anything I would buy regardless of the discount.

Jessica, share the deal. Where did you pay $16.95 for a $200 wooden kitchen set?

I don’t go out on Black Friday because you can usually get the same deals online that day, or starting at midnight on Thanksgiving. This wouldn’t apply to the diaper deal, but it does apply for most other things where you don’t need a coupon.

Last year I found that I could order all the Black Friday specials online (during the same time frame) – so I just got up (at 9am rather than 4am like I used to) and sat at my computer and ordered the things I had already circled in the flyers. I have never heard of cyber Monday though and would love to know information about that!!!!!!

I’m going to print the coupon and use it another time. I have no tolerance for that kind of shopping and i know it! Maybe I will check at lunch time, but that is a maybe! I just don’t do the crowds well so I stay home. It is not something my family has ever done, and I don’t work retail, I think it is just something you either do or don’t do. Since I am 90% done with what I need this year I don’t really need anything.

no way I’d got near toys r us. but I went to babies r us around 7 or 8 am. they had only a few of the $10 cases of diapers (which I bought) and some cases of wipes. I got almost enough wipes to last a year.

and, I agree with one of the pps, for some reason, everyone is in a good mood. maybe because I’m normally at the mall, which is not crowded yet. it’s actually fairly deserted (since everyone is at wal-mart, toys r us, and best buy).

When I was 20, I went with my Aunt and Uncle to KB Toys shopping for their two little kids. It was HORRIBLE! Now I am 30 and a parent myself. Last year I went to CVS and Walgreens on thanksgiving day (6am) for their deals, and on Friday I went to Joann Fabrics with my daughter and got the $1.50/yard felt and $2.50/yard fleece- enough for a year’s worth of crafting. Though the fabric cutting line was long, it was worth it but we were NOT there at the crack of dawn!

I’m so surprised at the comment about Target diapers being awful! My son is 2 1/2 and unless we get other Huggies or Pampers on a great sale, or have a Luvs coupon, Target has always been our usual brand. I’ve never had a problem with them, I think they’re an amazing deal.
But I suppose everyone is different!!

I did the Black Friday thing last year. Toys R Us had 1 specific thing that I wanted. I have to say, it was totally worth it. I stood in line outside for maybe 20 minutes. Yes, it was cold. But the Leap Frog Learn Around Playground that I wanted was about half price. That was a fairly expensive toy, so it was worth my time and effort.
However – Kohls on the other hand… I will NEVER do that again. Their toys are SO overpriced. They jack the prices up, because they are always on sale. So the “deal” was that they were all 50% off. Well, their 50% off price was basically the regular price that you’d find at Wal Mart. I walked out with nothing after standing in line for 30 mins at 3am. Ugh!!

If I out on black Friday, it’s around 5PM. Yes, we miss some of the early bird deals, but we also miss the crowds! Also, I find the diaper comments interesting – I have found the Up and Up diapers at Target to be the best for us – they have worked much better than other store or name brands.

I think most people that dislike BF are people that were not prepared or that have worked retail on BF and are bitter at the thought (which I understand but luckily does not apply to me) lol. There is no “casual” shopping on BF or you WILL 100% WILL get frustrated, tired, and not come out with anything. My family does it every year. After dinner on Thanksgiving, we sit with the ads. Make a chart w/ opening times, items that interest us, and where the stores are located. Then we make a plan based on those things. Get everything out for the next morning and get to sleep early. We are out the door by 3:30 and are there before the stores open or in some cases (for the last stores on our list) right after they open. Get our stuff quick (this is NOT the day to browse, know what you want) and get right in line, no dilly dallying. We are usually done shopping by about 8:30 and then we always go to Ihop for breakfast. Get home by 10am, take a nap, then put up our tree. It’s our tradition and we love it Thank you for deciding to post some of the deals even though you don’t go, we appreciate it

And I’m sure nobody is still reading my life story still but I also did want to mention that Target diapers are the worst ones I have ever used … they leak (not only around the edges but through the diaper itself) more than any other store brand I have tried
