I posted earlier about how you can get a coupon for $10 off any $10 or more online order at JCPenney right now. Well, I found an even better deal thanks to an email I got in my inbox this afternoon.
If you register your credit or debit card with JCP Rewards right now, you'll immediately be able to print a $10 Welcome Gift voucher which you can use online, over the phone, or in-store to purchase anything which is $10 or more. Use it in-store on a clearance item which is right around $10 and it will be free or close-to-free after this voucher!
I just signed up (I inputted a prepaid card that I use for online purchases) and after going through the 5-minute sign-up process, the $10 voucher could them be immediately printed from my account. It didn't expire until November 17, 2009.
Go here to sign up.

Just so you know, when I’ve had these coupons before from the mail, you have to buy an item that’s $10 or more – so if you find something on clearance for $9.99, you have to buy something else to use the coupon!
thanks! how long until the expiration date?
I’ve had both happen. I’ve been able to buy some nice salon items for $9.99 and other times I’ve been told my total must be over $10. Doesn’t hurt to try, except for the rejection of having to go back and find something else to add to your order. Thank you for the post! Great deal.
I clicked on their banner to get the $10 certificate, but then it didn’t give it to me. Ugh….
Awesome! Thanks for finding these deals and steals and sharing them with us. God bless you!
I was also able to use the SWEETS4U code and got a total of $20 off my order! Thanks!
Has anyone found a way to combine the promo code and the rewards code to get $20 off a purchase? I can’t seem to find a way to use both on the same item.
i received in the mail a free shipping code….GATHER49….try it, it may work for both the $10 off $10, and free shipping.
Woo hoo! Just got a pair of Keds for $13.24 incl. shipping to the store. What a deal! I used the SWEETS4U code, too, that I got. It goes in the left-side box, and there’s a place for the rewards code & serial # on the right.
I’ve been waiting and waiting for them to go on sale because I can’t afford $29 for a pair of tennies…thanks so much for letting us know about this!
that offer popped up for me too…but it said it was a “free trial” for a month or something ( I don’t remember how long) and after that time this 3rd party company bills you $9.95/mo. you can cancel during the trial period…but I decided its not worth it.
ok, either the offer ended or I can’t find it! Can someone help me out??
I signed up and it says I have 0 points and I need to earn 250 to get a certificate. Don’t know what I did wrong!
I also used both the SWEET4U and got the $10 voucher by signing up for JCP Rewards and entering my debit card. I got 5 things for 2.37 plus shipping!
Crystal–Not to be a downer, but I am reluctant to give JCPenney any credit card/debit card information. At one point we ordered something and had it mailed then got recurring charges on our account. It had a number to call and I researched it and it was a frequent problem numerous people had had with JCPenney’s. I called and complained and they removed the monthly charge they had been pulling out (it took us a few months to notice the charge). Just wanting to say be on the watch for unauthorized charges.
To Amanda, after you get all signed up, on your My Account page it does say that you must earn 250 points, but if you look at the box in the bottom right under “available rewards” there should be an option to print your $10 certificate!
I’m having the same problem Amanda. No voucher mentioned anywhere – says I have to earn 250 more points.
Just wanted to let others know you can go back and “edit” your card information if you are concerned with possible security or unauthorized charges to your card. Just log in under your email user name and password, then go to profile. Each section has a small button to edit or save information. I edited mine to an, ahem, completely wrong card number after considering Liz’s post above. Not worth it to me to take a chance!
thanks Crystal, got a new dress for an upcoming wedding, cost was $19.99 and will pay just shipping.
Just wanted to post a deal I got using both the Rewards Cert. and the SWEETS4U code. I was able to purchase 2 packages (14 underwear) of Hanes boys’ underwear for $10.83 including shipping! I also went through eBates, so I should get a bit back from them as well. My boys really need these and that’s less than $1 a pair! Thank you Money Saving Mom! I budget $10 every two weeks for clothing for our family of 6, so this was a great find — all without leaving the house!
I got that same email today! I was so excited to see such a great opportunity from one of my favorite dept stores!
Regarding the post that is costs $9.95 per month. I work at JCPenney and there is no cost to participate in the rewards program.
I didn’t see the $9 something a month. Danae, do you know what this was about? Does anyone know anything about the trial and needing to cancel. I did not see any information like that.
Aimee – I wouldn’t put in a false credit card number – that’s fraud and if a charge were to go thru, you’d be looking at the FBI tracking you down (internet fraud is Federal).
Like Crystal, I used a prepaid $25 visa gift card that I had and it worked just fine. No need to give a “real” card number on this deal, just use a disposable one. And, doesn’t Paypal offer “one time use” credit card numbers now, or did I dream that? That might be another way to go if you are worried about future charges. By the way, I saw nothing in the fine print on this that they were going to charge us in the future – if they did say that, that’s pretty low that they’d hide that so well. If that’s the case, I plan to write their customer service and complain. As soon as I get my discounted item. haha
Be aware, though, that JC Penney charges your card before you pick up your item if you choose store pickup. Last time I got to the catalog desk to pick up a “deal” item like this, the lady said, “Oh, you’re all paid, you used a credit card…” so beware – if you use a debit card, the charge may go through BEFORE you pick up!
JC Penney is really pretty safe – I worked there for 3 years and yes, their customer service can be iffy, but eventually you can get things straightened out with them. If you call customer inquiry and don’t get anywhere with the CSR you are working with, just ask to speak to a Supervisor. Most CI CSR’s are more than happy to pass you off to someone higher (trust me on that!!! LOL)
It didn’t work for me. It says: You have 0 points. You only need 250 more to earn a $10 JCP Rewards Certificate!
Any reason why it works for some, not for others?
Disregard my comment above. If you log into your JCP rewards program account, there is a note to print out the $10 coupon.
For those of you getting the message that you have to earn 250 points, look on that same page to the right, that’s where I found my certificate. I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to use the code for shipping, GATHER49, that Amanda shared with us but I don’t see a place to enter another code. Can’t complain, though, I’m getting a pair of house pants for my husband & a long-sleeve maternity shirt for myself for less than $9 including shipping. I was going to buy myself 2 maternity shirts (this is the first time I’ll be pregnant during the winter so I have very few long-sleeve shirts), but I’ve decided I should buy something for my husband for Christmas. You know, share the wealth. Sorry to be so wordy.
Very cool! Ordered a clearanced out purse that I wanted & a pair of shorts for my daughter. Very easy and everything was just as explained. Thanks Crystal!
I’m in the same group that didn’t get the certificate. There was no box in the bottom corner to click.
Oh well, I did get the $10 off yesterday and have a new pair of jeans on the way to me for $8.94 (originally $55, marked down to $12.99, minus $10 and plus S&H). Trends say straight leg jeans are coming back. I’m getting tired of spending big $$ to change wardrobes. I knew I should have never thrown out my 80’s clothes! LOL

There’s nothing listed under ‘available rewards’ for me either.
I would never enter debit card information online for any reason. (Found this out the hard way.) Regardless of how you feel about using credit cards, at least if you must enter a card info on-line try to use a credit card with $0 fraud liability. It’s much easier to resolve than a debit card problem. (Again, found this out the hard way.) I don’t know about a prepaid card—do they have fraud protection? If so, that might be the best way to go.
I was able to combine both the $10 voucher and $10 off (SWEETS4U) and got my son a new pair of converse all stars for less the $9 bucks. If you choose to have it shipped to the store shipping and Handling only costs 4.50. Worth it if you live close to the mall or go there frequently.
Hmm… should I have used a promo code to sign up? The $10 certificate was not added to my account.
I signed up for this yesterday and still havent gotten anything…..
It didn’t work for me the first time I tried so I tried again with a different email and a different card obly this time I took the really short survey that came up when I entered a new card and they I got the printable cert!! I’m not sure if thats what triggered it but it was worth atry for me especially since you can get $20 off vs just $10- yeah!
Ty! I got a new pair of leather shoes(regularly $60!) and a shirt for my husband for $5 shipped to a local store! Whoo hoo!
I think the program that becomes $9.95/month is “Family Fun Rewards” not JCPenney Rewards. Make sure you’re signing up for the right one!
I used this and the SWEETS4U and signed up for one of the rebate sites. I have been wanting to switch to cloth napkins and there were some on clearance! Don’t know if they’re the best kind, but I got 16 of them for 5 or 6 bucks!! Which I will get back through the rebates site! What an awesome deal – thank you!
Do you have to receive an email to do this offer?
If not, how do I get the $10?
I have an account but can’t seem to find how to do this deal!?
HELP!!
Ok, just registered my personal info/cc info with JCP. It will say at the top of the last page “You have 0 points. You only need 250 more to earn a $10 JCP Rewards Certificate!” but if you look below that, in the middle of the page, on the right side, it will have a box that says, “available rewards” and then says, “available: $10.00″ with a small blue print link underneath it. Clicking on that link will give you the window with your certificate. I did have to take a survey as mentioned above.
I did it thru the email and received the $10 bonus. My sister suggested using a virtual one-time use debit card (like the ones Paypal issues) if you only want to sign up to get the bonus and you don’t want to put in your regular charge card. There there is no security issue and no fraud. I went in with my certificate today and got a pair of Converse sneakers for $3.99 for my daughter!
I love shopping here, I’m from Canada…
To Mary:
No, That is NOT fraud, LOL! I have no problem putting in a false credit card number, in this partricular circumstance. One, I am not going to be purchasing ANYTHING through this program. I tried to find a place to disenroll after getting the full scoop, but JCP does not offer that. I will NOT be using the coupon, and if any charges should go through that would be exactly WHY I put the new wrong number in the first place. (To avoid charges I did not authorize.) FYI, the card I originally entered IS a money card type debit card, but I don’t care to have false charges assigned to it either.) So, please, be thoughful before accusing someone of something so sinister. Fruad is intentionally trying to purchase items with credit that does not belong to you, Mary.
i am getting the same with the zero points. and i looked everywhere that people suggested. (right hand side and in my email) and i have gotten NOTHING!!
No $10 reward for me either, I’ve looked everywhere.
Went to JCP today and got a purse and wallet on clearance (it’s buy 1 clearance item get 1 50% off) for just $1.07 including tax!! My sister tried to sign up recently and didn’t get the $10 reward either, deal might be gone?
Ok – those of you who signed up for the Rewards program and didn’t get the $10 reward certificate for signing up – I emailed JCP about it and said, “hey, where’s my $10 reward for signing up?” and they emailed me back saying they posted one to my account. Sure enough, I logged in and there it was under “available rewards” – where previously there’d been nothing. So give them a shout!
