and the chocolate rang up at full price. bummer

Jeanette, I agree that the sale price ringing up without the coupon is great, because that’s one less thing to fumble with at the register. But just wanted to point out that walgreens coupons, including those in the ad, do not count against your coupon-to-item ratio.

have a question-I know you can’t roll a RR into another RR for the same item or another RR won’t print out, but can you roll one RR into a new, different RR item and still get the new RR to print out?

to make all the TP shoppers fill better…..I lined my children up with four rolls each…I was too embrassed to put them back so I bet I bought more or those 50 cent rolls than the rest of you :>…..I did score 60+ cans of chef michael dog food for $3.30 by accident 30 minutes later at Rite Aid….which made me feel much better about the TP :>.

Same story as everyone else…my WG would not take the coupon for the tp. So if anyone from my area is reading this WG in Lancaster, Ohio wouldn’t give you free tp.

Wow – I feel so stupid. I just tried to get the free toilet paper at our local Walgreens and when the cashier refused to take my coupon, saying that the discount was already programmed into their system, I insisted that it should be free – not $2 for 4 toilet paper rolls. They called the manager who came over and was very polite, but they kept looking at me like I was crazy – until I looked down at the “coupon” and realized ours was 2 for$1 not $1 off 2. I walked out without making a purchase and will have a difficult time showing my face there again. Next time, I’ll have to remember that Walgreens coupons differ by region (I guess) and actually read my “coupon” more carefully!

what u said is right..technically we end up paying the tax on the amount before coupons for the product u’re buying.

here’s an example with RR’s
say a product costs $3 like u said and you have a $1 off coupon for that product and it produces a $2 RR.The cashier first scans the product so it scans $3 + tax ..u hand the coupon ..it takes off $1 ..so u pay $2 + tax out of pocket…U get $2 RR..

RR’s are equvalent to store cash with an expiration date and ofcourse with a limitation that u have to use that RR in that particular store…the product is free+tax because u get ur $2 back in the form of RR which can be used like cash (with limitations ofcourse)..it’s totally ur choice to decide whether u’re comfortable with the RR’s and having to deal with them or not…

let’s just say that the next time u go in u buy a product that costs $2 and produces a $2 RR..then this time u pay with ur RR +tax and still get to keep the new $2 RR ..now the product only costs u the tax..

Personally, I love having the items at the sale price without the coupons. That way, when I’m close to my coupons vs items limits, I have a few more extra items to put register rewards against without using fillers. Wahoo!

Just wanted to note about the RRs…my “favorite” cashier and manager at “my” Walgreens told me that the Register Rewards may have an expiration date on them, but they will scan up to 2 weeks after that date. You may want to check at your store, but this should be universal.

The progresso soups had the coupon price already in the register but the tuna did not. I wonder one thing—on the soups, for instance, where it says limit 4—in the past cashiers would override the limits with an in-ad coupon (if you got a nice cashier) so I wonder if now they will not be able to do this?

In Southern Ca, the price in the system is .50 the sale price so my cashier wouldn’n even take the coupon.

the idea is, is that once you’ve been shopping at walgreens, that you have 2$ in register rewards to spend, and then get 2$ in RR back. thus, just trading the RR you have for a newer one that expires later. if you’re just starting out, then you don’t have one.

but if you view it as an investment, that if you spent 2$ today and try to use it in a smart way, then you can trade it every time you shop at walgreens.

i work at walgreens and the reason the tp, soup, vit c, and klenexx are ringing up at the sale price without the coupon is because about a month ago we are now doing a “door buster” program. with that ever week certain items will no longer need the coupon listed in the ad. it will ring up the sale price. you should also notice these items will be on an end stand in the front (should be the one to the right of promo aisle).
also i’m sorry that some people have terrible cashiers!! come to my walgreens we are told we are one of the friendliest staffs around!

The TP scenario doesn’t work… same issue already listed, the cashier I had was VERY slow, inspected every item and every coupon, so I didn’t ask her to take them back off my order as I was looking for an unadvertised deal, but man did I want to!!! The saving grace is that I was using a $3 RR from trail mix that I made a $1 due to MQ, so I guess my dollar profit went to TP that my DH will complain about! LOL I did get more free pantyliners that I have no clue when I’ll use (I’m nursing) and 9 symphony bars for a net after RR exchanges of $1.73, all in all it was still a good trip… now I’ll have to go back again to see if I can find the Ghiradelli bars!

Here in Columbus Ohio the TP was ringing up for $.50 each and the register beeped when I gave the coupon, so I didn’t have any luck however the Hershey’s candy bars deal did work.

I’m pretty sure the reason the coupon isn’t scanning is because it’s a 2/$1, not a $1/2, which is two for a dollar, not a dollar off two.

Same thing here in TX with the TP..sale price is already in the register so the in ad coupon does not work for this deal. I did find Cottonelle 4 pack double rolls on clearance for $2.19 I had some $1 off coupons that made the $1.19..not free but cheap!
