Kristen emailed me earlier today:
know that it appears the Rite Aid Gift of Savings Program total is based upon your total spent before coupons, not after coupons. So for those of us using the $5 off $25 and other coupons this is a fabulous
deal!
I just got a email stating that I qualified for $20 gift card
and I have spent nowhere near $100 out of pocket. What's great is that most of the money that I did spend I will be getting back in rebates! Rite Aid really seems to
be giving it's customers deals recently!
We don't have a Rite Aid store here, so I'm curious to hear if this has been the case for the rest of you who have submitted your receipts to qualify for the Gift of Savings Program. Have your earnings also been based on your pre-coupon total?

Yes, I’m in Tennessee and this is absolutely true. It is a “pre-coupon” total. What a deal! I’ll be getting most of the money I’ve spent back in SCR. Thanks for all your work MSM!
Yup. That is what I have found, I bought the 3/$33 diapers with manufacturers coupons, a rite-aid huggies coupon and the $5/$25 coupon and paid with a gift card. The gift of savings gave me $33 worth of credit! Same thing happened last week when I got 4 fabreeze isense for $1 after coupons and they gave me over $20 worth or credit!
Yes, earnings were based on my pre-coupon total! I spent $9.82 oop, but my Gift of Savings total is currently around $44 (don’t remember the change)!
I am in KY and my gift of savings has been based on the pre-coupon total as well. The week if the J&J baby wash deal I got credit for $77 for all the deals I scored that week. My diapers this week were also credit at the $33.
I ended up posting in the wrong section… but yes, it’s the same over here in West Virginia. I’ve hardly spent anything and I’m getting close to the $20 reward!
I’m in CA and yup! They are basing it on pre-coupon totals! I even used my free diaper voucher one day with a few other small items and the free diapers counted towards it!! SOOO cool!
I am in upstate NY and this is the case here too. I also got a surprise when I earned the $1 Nabisco rebate for the 99c Wheat Thin Deal. This made the 2c profit deal even better!!
It’s also true in GA. My gift of savings email just stated that I’m getting a $20 gift card and I haven’t spent anywhere near $100 oop. Fantastic deal!
Yes and it is also before other rebates or at least that was the case when I did the program last time.
Same here in VA! I love it because I’m no where near $100 out of pocket!
Oh, yes, I am loving Rite Aid this month! Between this week and last, I have scored 3 diapers, 5 baby wash, 15 Soy Joy, 2 light bulbs, 1 Listerine, 1 Wet Ones, and 1 Suave lotion- all for about $1 after coupons and rebates! My OOP was around $25. But my Gift of Savings certificate stands at $10 currently, and I’m not far from moving up to the $20 level. Should be easy to do in the next couple of weeks.
I’m in KY and it’s also true here! I have made an overall profit of over $20 this month and bought over $100 worth of items!! THANK YOU RITE AID!
I already hit my $20 and it is pre-coupon .. My oop was about $3 for it!
Yes, same here in Alabama.
Yes it’s true!!! I spent OOP under $6 and I will be getting a $20 Rite Aid Gift Card thanks to the Gift of Savings promotion. That means I got over $100 worth of products for a money maker of at least $14 – haven’t ran all of the totals but I will be blogging them very soon with pictures and all.
Same in PA! Thanks RiteAid!
Yes, I too have earned the $20 already all on pre-coupon totals. I had 3 of the bogo covergirl coupons and was able to snag $78 worth of free make-up which all went towards my gift of savings. I also used my free diapers coupons. I will be making money on this!
Its always been that way for any single check rebate in SC…total is calculated before coupons…it only makes sense though as the manf will reimburse the stores so technically you spent the total before coupons in that sense.
yep… same case for SCR that are buy $X get $X back. Their systems seems to be set up the check the line item price and basically ignore the rest of the stuff. I bought 4 packs of pull-ups this week, which earned me $44 towards gifts of savings. I’m in Utah.
I’m in WA and it’s the same for me with the total calculated before coupons! I’ve already earned $20 and have spent about $7 out of pocket!! Loving Rite Aid!
Just blogged my $100+ shopping trips for a PROFIT of $1.48!
http://thefrugalfind.com/rite-aid-shopping-trips-924-917-profit-of-148/
Yes, it is pre-coupon totals. I got credited for way more than I actually spend out of pocket. I almost have enought already for the $20.00 back and I hardly spend anything
Yup its true! I posted my recap already but I spent a grand total (including tax) of $15.43 (after rebates and coupons). I will get a $20 gift certificate back AND I walked away with:
(1) Electrasol
(3) Huggies Diapers
(10) Johnson and Johnson Baby products
(4) Nexxus Hair care
(2) Huggies wipes tubs
I think that is pretty incredible.
Yes same in PA
YES! I’m in CA. I paid about $18 OOP and Rite Aid gave me the full $100+ value. My check/certificate is on the way!!!
YUP – it is definately pre-coupon! In last 2 weeks with the J&J deal, Huggies and Nexxus, I got over $200 worth of stuff for $29 overage!
Just can confirm its the same here- in PA!. I ended up between rebates and gift certificates actually making $0.57 by getting diapers that I needed anyway.
Yeah! Its pre-coupon total for me too!!!
Yes! It worked that way for me in KY. Got many items and actually made money ($2.00)!
I noticed that too. I’m in Ohio, and I’ve spent less than $30 out-of-pocket so far. I’ve already qualified for the $10 gift card. I’m actually getting back almost all of the money I spent OOP, so this is amazing!
It’s pre on mine also. Today on my visit I discovered a
Nexxus shampoo for $5.99 so I picked up 2 for the rebate.
With this was able to also use 2 of the nexxus ad perk
coupons which made each $.50 after the rebate. Know it
runs out tonight but some Lamisil boxes say save $2 now,
couple with $1 ad-perk and $4 rebate, great deal at $2.
Ren Pur shampoo has bottles that say Try Me for Free and
$3.00 mail in rebate. These also have ad perk coupon for $2. I think price is $5.99 before any rebates.
YES!!! I’ve spent a total of $15 OOP and it’s showing me with $100 in totals- plus I’ve got a $15 rebate. So, I’m making a lot of money off this one!
Yep – this has been the case for us too (in NE PA)!! According to RiteAid’s website, we’ve spent $75, but this was all prior to our coupons! We’ve only spent $20 out of pocket – and even that was off of a gift card we got for a prescription transfer a few months back. After our rebates, we’ll actually be making money … and have converted the entire $25 gift card into CASH!! I love that!
I just checked and I qualified before coupons. I am in San Diego, Calif where the weather is still very hot.
Yes–I’ve also earned $20 and spent practically nothing out of pocket. Most of the items I’ve purchased are SCR rebates for which I’ve used manufacturers coupons and $5/$20 or $5/$25 Rite Aid coupons. I’ve been “rolling” my single check rebate money for months and it supports all of my drugstore purchases as well as other incidentals. I used to buy just the free stuff I wanted or needed each month, without any sort of plan or strategy, and get a check for maybe $20 and think I was doing great. Then I started reading blogs, stacking coupons, buying money makers even for products I didn’t really want, and crafting shopping lists around those golden $5/$25 coupons, and now I’m averaging about $46 a month in rebates while amassing a nice little stockpile and donating products to Goodwill. This month, I spent $31.86, $25 of which was a Rite Aid gift card from July. The rest was paid for from the proceeds of last month’s $59.44 rebate. And for September, I will get a $40.49 single check rebate, plus the $20 gift of savings gift certificate. I honestly don’t know why Rite Aid seems to be the least popular drugstore. I mean, RRs and ECBs expire. Money doesn’t–and it’s good everywhere.
That’s right! And boy the deals have been really good lately. However stay away from the $19.99 Huggies that they say are on sale. There ALWAYS $19.99.
Yes, pre-coupons! I have only spent $9 out of pocket and I already qualified for the $20 gift of savings rebate. Not to mention I have $37.99 other rebates coming for the month of september! I love Rite Aid
I actually don’t even bother with CVS or Walgreens because I’ve gotten such great deals at Rite Aid and then I don’t have to worry about all the hassles of the ECB and RR. It really is the best store, and SO easy!
Wow, I love Rite-Aid! I did the Huggies deal last night. If you factor in earning at least $5 through Fall Gift of Savings, I got 3 packages of Huggies Overnights for $5!
Definitely true for me too! I got an email yesterday and I was trying to figure out how I had reached that total. I knew that my OOP expense was much lower than the rebate they said I was getting. Good to know! Maybe I will reach the maximum rebate. Yoohoo!
Yes, my cashier said it is pre-coupon.
Rite has done this for YEARS!!!! IF you never noticed before, you haven’t been paying attention. Rite Aid has been paying me to take stuff off their shelves for about the last 5 years. They must still be makin’ money, though, cause they’re still in business, right?
Same here is MA.. pre-coupon. I got my $20 last week using J&J, IMotion, wet ones and Suave. I used coupons and RiteAid video coupons. OOP was around $5.
This week I saved on Huggies, toothpaste & toothbrushes, SoyJoy, and Razors. Used coupons and Rite Aid matchup coups. OOP $10
Keep it coming!!
Pre-coupon here in Los Angeles too!
