I think the Target Coupon for Bananas is $ .50 off. Either way it’s a great savings. Thanks so much for all the great posts.

Your family photos are beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

target is my closet store.. so I use it almost 100% of shopping now :)

Mary August 17, 2009 at 5:47 pm

I’m so upset so I have to share… I brought my $1/1 General Mills coupon to target with me today and they refused it… not only did they refuse it they yelled at me. At first the man said I could not use it because it was only good on boxed cereal not the $1.00 cups so I asked him where it said that and then he started yelling at me and saying “you coupons are terrible, you should be embarrassed of yourself, nothing in the world is free. I was mortified, everyone was staring at me, like I was a thief. It will be a VERY long time before I go back to target.

amity t August 17, 2009 at 5:52 pm

Mary – I would call Target headquarters and complain. While I find Target to be one of the hardest stores to shop at with coupons and have been told NO on them many times, I have never been treated that way. I wouldnt just let it go.

Danielle August 17, 2009 at 6:08 pm

Mary, I totally know how you feel. I went a couple of weeks ago and tried to do the Whitestrips deal and she told me that it wasn’t the same picture on the box. She was very loud and very confrontational. I tried to keep cool in front of my little girl and said “You’re wrong but I don’t want to stand here and argue. I need to get my little one home.” She then took my Whitestrips coupons and put them in her register. I told her to hand them back to me and she said I wouldn’t be able to use them anyway. I walked away and was enraged. I went over to the cafe to get a drink to cool myself down and while I was waiting online getting a drink, I turned around to see the same cashier going through my bags that were hanging on my daughter’s stroller, while she was still sitting in it. I said, “What are you doing?!” She said she forgot to take the Whitestrips out of my bag and was getting them. I couldn’t believe it! I obviously didn’t realize she had already bagged them but the nerve to dig in my bags! I haven’t been back there since but plan to talk to the manager when I do.

***********************DEAL ALLERT*******************

My Target had Jenny-o Turkey Franks for 1.19 a pack and I used a .55 off coupon from the 7/26 Smart Source.
They also had on temporary price cut a 14 oz package of Jenny-o turkey sausage Breakfast links for onlyn 1.65 and I used the same .55 coupon on these too.
That made the franks .64 a pack and the breakfast links just 1.10 a pack!!
The hotdogs say 50% less fat then beef and the links say at least 30% so they are not pure junk.
I served the dogs to my family tonight and only told them after I turned off the bbq and they ate them that they were turkey. They could not believe it.
I have more coupons so I think I am going to stock up.

liz August 17, 2009 at 8:09 pm

Danielle,
I don’t know why you did not march over right away to the customer service and talk calmly with a manager then.
Complaining a day (or week later) is a waste of time!
Thanks for sharing though.
Lucy

Mary & Danielle,

That is horrible! I know some of these people think us couponers are cheapskates, but that’s too bad. The store they work at CHOSE to have printable coupons!!! If they didn’t want us to use them or didn’t want them to be used on certain products they would make sure they said so on the coupon or wouldn’t offer the coupons at all! And at the very least they could be nice about it. I have myself been yelled at by a store employee and it is very upsetting! So so rude I would write complaints for sure!

Keep your chins up, there are more of us out there and we know how you feel! :)

Emily Kay August 17, 2009 at 11:04 pm

I can’t find the Luvs or batteries coupons in either of my Smartsource inserts…has anyone else found them?

Julie August 18, 2009 at 9:13 am

Thanks Alisha! I didn’t have time to go searching through all my flyers.

shannon August 18, 2009 at 9:37 am

I have no idea why some of these cashiers are so personally invested in HOW we use our coupons. It’s like others have said, if the coupon doesn’t specifically exclude certain items or sizes, then that item is fair game! Why should the cashier care? Danielle, you’re a better woman than I! I would have lost my mind at that cashier, taking what is technically your property (your coupons) and going through your bags!! But I do agree with Lucy… if you don’t register your complaint right away, it’s pretty much pointless. I have had this same issue at CVS with the Revlon Color Cosmetics coupon… even thought it specifically says ANY color cosmetic, if your item doesn’t match the picture they won’t take it and will argue their faces off with you. I complained later to the customer service email, and was ignored.

Geremy August 18, 2009 at 10:47 am

becomingfrugal, the bigger city papers have more coupons. For example, I live in western maryland so I can get 4 different papers. The Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post both have those Luvs coupons but the other 2 smaller papers (Herald-Mail and Frederick Newspost) doesn’t have either one of those. I hope that helps you out a little bit.

Geremy August 18, 2009 at 10:48 am

Above ^^^^ message was for Emily Kay, sorry!

Danielle August 18, 2009 at 10:51 am

You’re right, Liz. But I had my little girl with me and at that point we were BOTH losing it. I had already wasted enough time trying to use my coupons. I figured I could go one night alone while hubby is home to watch my daughter.

Becomingfrugal, thanks. What I don’t understand is why the store gives us such a hard time with coupons, especially in this economy. I may be wrong here but they aren’t paying for the items we get for free or discounted…the manufacturer is. Am I correct? Plus, I’m always there to pick up other things that I don’t have coupons for and still pay a substantial amount each visit, after coupons. I don’t get it. There must be something wrong with the training (or lack thereof) of the cashiers if we’re all having problems. Target Corp definitely needs to work on developing the right training program for their cashiers. The first lesson should be “Always Treat the Customer with RESPECT”!!!!!

Jennifer Rowe August 18, 2009 at 11:04 am

My Target is ringing up the Hillshire Farms Roast beef lunch meat at 2.47…with the 1.00 off coupon it makes it a great deal. Especially for those who have to make 4 sandwiches on some days!

Janell August 18, 2009 at 11:58 am

I am having a problem with Target in Racine, Wi as well
they are not taking the Target coupons for the General mills in the littel cups and yesterday I was told to print my target coupons at the store where you reg for baby gifts….Somethign is going on here….I read above that other locations are havign the same problem…ther eare no size requiremnets on the coupons… what gives???

Mysty August 18, 2009 at 12:48 pm

I feel so lucky – the two Target stores I use are so easy going on their coupons – if it doesn’t scan firat time, they “push’ them right through – and I have never been given a hard time about the “picture not matching” etc.

Jennifer Rowe August 18, 2009 at 7:09 pm

My post says Danielle and has my name next to a post about someone in Racine, WI. Just wanted to let you know…mine was on the hillshire farms deli meat and I’m in Mobile, AL

Katie August 19, 2009 at 12:03 am

I just printed up the general mills coupon and it looks like a photo copy of one…scanned.. The coupons states that it is void if scanned.. Has anyone had any problems with that?? I’m pretty new to this and don’t want to have MANY problems when I go shopping with my three kids.

Stacey August 19, 2009 at 1:53 pm

I tried to use the General Mills coupons today on the cereal cups to no luck…they wouldnt scan and the lady wouldnt push them through. I was very disappointed! I called the customer service number and the lady just said it had to be the box…but there was nothing on the coupon that stated so!!!

Liz August 19, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Hi,
I wonder if we all do a writing campaign to the various stores & maybe some letters to the editors of our different newspapers. I’ve read several stories about negative experiences & have had some myself. I think we should get the word out that we are just a group of Mom’s (& Dads) that are trying to take care of our families.
We are not doing anything illegal, we are not trying to “run a scam”. We are simply taking advantage of opportunities to provide for our families by using coupons & sales ( coupons & sales, by the way, that the stores are running or the manufacturers are issuing! )
We, the consumer, are what keeps these stores in business!
I know some have said we shouldn’t draw attention to ourselves. I find it hard to believe, though, with all these wonderful couponing websites, that corporate doesn’t already know.
What is inexcusable is being treated the way some of you have been treated on this blog, especially in front of our children.
The stores will change when enough voices are heard!

courtney August 21, 2009 at 6:07 am

well i’m about to head to target with coupons for the first time ever and i have to admit, i’m kinda scared after reading these posts! thank goodness i got a sitter for my “first coupon day”!
wish me luck! eeekkk:(

alicia August 22, 2009 at 12:59 am

Has anyone had success with using the cereal coupons on the cups? I tried this evening and it didn’t work. Luckily the cashier was really awesome about it, she asked if I wanted to have the manager come over. Of course she told her the argument about it needing to be the box rather than let me explain that there was no description on the coupon.

So I ended up not getting the cereals. I had a ton of other stuff though and it wasn’t until I got in the car that I realized that she forgot to take the $10 for the cereal off my total. Kind of a pain in the butt, but the cashier and the manager were so apologetic about it, I really wasn’t upset. I am planning on contacting corporate though. A lot of the Target coupons do not go through the first time around, but for some reason they seem to have a problem pushing this one through.

alicia August 22, 2009 at 1:03 am

Oh and BTW Katie, don’t worry about those coupons, it is fine as long as Target is the one that actually put it out. If Target has any issues with coupons that they have put out, then the will usually post the coupon in the store saying they cannot accept it.

Don’t be discouraged newbies, I got the free bread, the free contact solution, free bananas (my store had them on sale for 49 cents), and nearly free poptarts no problem.

courtney August 25, 2009 at 7:45 am

ok so i went to target and not only was my cashier easy going, he was downright HELPFUL! my heart was pounding as i waited in line(my first coupon trip ever!), but obviously there was nothing to worry about in his line. LOL…i told him i had two transactions and he said ok and took my first cereal bowl…he saw that i had 7 more in the cart and asked me why i didn’t just give them all to him…i told him i thought i could only use one coupon($1) per transaction. he said, “where did you here that? just hand em over”…so i got 8 cereal bowls FREE!!! the only coupon that didn’t work was the apple one($1/1lb) and after studying the receipt i figured out that somehow i didn’t get an entire pound of apples. the scale in the produce section wasn’t correct. and many of the sale items at my target were more expensive than the sales i had read about. i certainly didn’t complain though because i got some AMAZING deals!!!!!
WALGREENS ON THE OTHER HAND…OMG!!!!! i spent about three hours there on friday going round and round with them. they told me that i couldn’t “stack” manufacturers coupons and RR’s because RR’s are considered a “manufacturer’s coupon”. walgreens was WAY too difficult for me…obviously they didn’t know what they were talking about and after studying the walgreen’s 101 more carefully, i’m gonna try it one more time.

Carol B. August 27, 2009 at 5:10 pm

I’ve never had a had experience with Target.

I find many stores, such as Giant Eagle- who doubles up to .99 cents-, just pushes coupons through and don’t even bother to look at them.
:)

Carol B. August 27, 2009 at 5:10 pm

I meant a ‘bad’ experience, or a ‘had’ one. :D
