Target and CVS: Free Sharpie Accent Highlighters

by crystal on August 6, 2009

Sharpie
I posted the $1/1 Sharpie Accent Highlighter coupon earlier and Michelle over at Money Saving Madness then emailed me to tell me you could use it at Target and CVS this week to pick these up for free since they are on sale for $0.99 at both stores. Go here to print your coupons. I'm guessing these might be priced at close to $1 at other stores as well.

By the way, this coupon is a legitimate PDF so you should be able to print and use multiple copies of it. However, it will probably not be available for very long so I'd suggest printing as many copies as you think you'll use before it expires December 31, 2009.

Janet August 6, 2009 at 4:24 pm

Thank you so much for the link, I need to buy several of those for the school year. :)

Gina S. August 6, 2009 at 5:10 pm

The sharpie coupons say “Limit one per purchase PER VISIT” does that mean I can only use one at time?

Julie August 6, 2009 at 5:19 pm

You could also save the PDF file to your computer to print later when needed

Thanks!!!

Zoya August 6, 2009 at 6:32 pm

$4.49 at our Target

Holly August 6, 2009 at 7:53 pm

With all of these Back to school deals, I was wondering if anyone knows of good deals on HP printer ink?

Amanda August 6, 2009 at 7:59 pm

There was a two pack with a mini highlighter at our target for $.99, I got four of these. They beeped when they went through but the cashier accepted all of my coupons. Great find :-)

We found 2 pks of yellow Sharpie highlighters (with a bonus pink mini highlighter) for $0.99 at Target. We bought 2 and used 2 coupons in one transaction with no problems, but that may vary according to your cashier.

ashl August 6, 2009 at 8:27 pm

Zoya thats probably the 4 or 5 pack its a 2 pack some come with free minis. I purchased them today .99 but the 4/5 pack is 4.49!

Elaine August 6, 2009 at 8:37 pm

I went to Target with my coupons. The highliters were on sale for $0.99 and I had my $1/1. When I checked out the register would not accept the coupons and the manager said that corporate had notified them that if a coupon was not accepted by the register they were not to take it. I will try to use them tomorrow at CVS, but was wondering if anyone else had any problems with the coupons being accepted?

Michele August 6, 2009 at 9:51 pm

No problem at CVS. I did five and the last one beeped only because it had to be adjusted down to 95 c

Kim August 6, 2009 at 10:07 pm

Great deal on the highlighters but that Bagel Bites coupon made my day!

Heidi Richhart August 6, 2009 at 10:23 pm

Just wanted to let you know that… The Sharpies for a penny! is not a special at Staples! i went to staples twice and they are all “It’s not our offer!” It’s a Offer at Office max. Not Staples! also i just wanted to let you all know about a deal i ran into. I was at Office max in Jordan Landing tonight. Getting my Sharpies and they have a deal going with payless shoes out in jordan landing that when your sales reciept prints out- also a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase at Payless. Prints out! so you go for office supplies and you get a shoe coupon. How cool is that? Anyhow i believe that is only good out in Jordan Landing Payless shoes.

Jessica August 7, 2009 at 6:39 am

I got the Payless coupon ,too, in MN.

zombiemommy August 7, 2009 at 7:10 am

My hubbie got a Payless coupon too when getting his sharpies at Office Max in Atlanta area.

Sarah August 7, 2009 at 8:32 am

Elaine, when your Target manager told you that “corporate had notified them that if a coupon was not accepted by the register they were not to take it,” he/she was just making up an excuse because he/she did not know why the coupon would not go through. I deal with this all the time with multiple stores (Target, Walmart, Walgreens, etc.). It is beneficial to carry Target’s coupon policy with you and pull it out when needed. You can call their corporate customer service number, and they will email/mail it to you. This has helped me tremendously. And I have found that they are quite surprised that I know their coupon policy better than they do! Good luck!

I’ve had difficulty with my Target lately too. I went in last week and used some coupons and then when I went back in this week with the SAME coupons, it beeped and they told me that they could not accept them! SOOO irritating! Don’t know why they could accept them last week and not this week!

Heidi August 7, 2009 at 10:41 am

I got the payless coupon also after buying Sharpies at Office Max in Washington state.

Becky August 7, 2009 at 10:54 am

Holly, I too needed an ink cartridge, I used my 5/25 from Walgreens yesterday to purchase it! But, the coupon expired yesterday. Hopefully there will be another one soon.

Julie August 7, 2009 at 11:06 am

I found the Sharpies at WalMart for $1.50. I’m saving my coupons and going to Target today.

Amanda Sheren August 7, 2009 at 2:56 pm

we went to Target today to get the sharpie accent highlighter pack, the only one they had for .99 was a two pack of yellow with a small pink highlighter in it, that’s ok, so we go to check out, I with my pack and coupon, and my husband behind me with his, and the register beeps and it says that because the total is less than the $1 face value of the coupon, and the package of highlighters are only .99 then they can not accept the coupon (since the cost of the item after the coupon is less than the full value of the coupon). :( sad day! well, we didn’t need anything else from the store, so we just had to leave the sharpie highlighters and go. I was not happy about that. By the way, we live in Denton Texas

Lacey August 7, 2009 at 6:40 pm

Amanda Sheren, I am sad to hear that about your trip to Target. I live about 100 miles from you. When there are Target deals, we frequent the Dallas area. I can’t tell you how many different Targets I have been to! We just got back from Montana!! Employees/managers/etc. just don’t know their own policy. They sometimes don’t even know how to adjust a coupon down or product price up. They seriously didn’t know how to do this at the store in Bozeman, MT during that start of the big Kashi week early July. It can get ugly, but sometimes we have to be persistant. I hate going in Target at times b/c I just don’t know what kind of checker I am going to get.

Elaine, most of the time the Target coupons won’t be accepted by the register. Not your fault, but I know you can fill like an idiot in stores when this happens. You might want to write corporate or call about that particular store. A local store in east TX never gives me any troubles. The problem is they are a regular Target and don’t carry everything.

Amy August 7, 2009 at 10:31 pm

The last time I was at target the associate didn’t know that Target coupons could be stacked with manufacturer coupons. I was told the same thing… that if it wouldn’t scan they couldn’t accept it. I just make them return the items then. I know they dislike typing in the coupon codes.

Renee August 8, 2009 at 2:35 am

I can not get the pdf to work . It is just a blank page…. HELP!!!!!

heidi August 8, 2009 at 10:52 am

I have an incredible Target story. One of my Target only takes one of any coupon – this was a new rule so I wasn’t prepared, so I had them take off all items that I had bought two of plus I got angry (managed to keep my mouth shut) and had them take off some clothes I bought. I decided I could get the clothes at a target that appreciated my business. I took off over 100.00 in sales. Guess what? When I took some other items back later in the week anything returned from that receipt came up as a return on a gift card not my credit card. Somehow taking off all that stuff created some kind of mess on my credit card. I was pretty upset but you know how target returns are. A lesson learned and a warning to you to be careful having too many things taken off. Lucky I wasn’t in a bind financially with this mess. There is more to the story and a visit with the store manager. I asked her if she ever used manufacturer coupons and she said no- I ask you how can someone who has never used a coupon anywhere understand what normal coupon policy is? I was questioning her not taking more than one type of coupon if you are buying more than one of something, It was a day of frustration for sure.

Cathy August 8, 2009 at 2:26 pm

If the coupon won’t scan, ask them to try their manual scanner. Mine never scan the normal way but then the cashier uses that handheld scanner and BAM! it works:)

Brittany August 8, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Heidi the exact same thing happened to me…agh. Only, when it happened to me…the cashier rung in too many of one item(which ended up being a $10 mistake) and they would only refund me on a gift card. They even called corporate because I was NOT happy, and that’s the response I got. grr.

Jill August 10, 2009 at 9:57 am

I was at Target and $8.19 worth of coupons were not scanned correctly. I went back in and they dumped them all in a big bag. I said “I could pick out the ones that didn’t work”. I did and the manager was not to nice to me. I said “I followed the rules and it is my money”. I told her I can shop other places that are nicer when I left!!!
