I use the same laundry detergent that the Duggar’s use(18 kids and counting on TLC) and find that it works great. The recipe makes 10 gallons…so I love filling up my bottles then sharing it w/ neighbors and friends.

I have a great recipe to make my own laundry soap–I’ll share it in case you’re interested!

1/2 cup of Borax
1/2 cup washing soda (I use Arm&Hammer)
1/2 bar of soap, grated (any brand you like)

Melt soap in 2 quarts of water on medium-high heat. When melted, add Borax and washing soda and stir till dissolved. Remove from heat and add 1 1/2 more gallons of water (we bought a 5 gallon bucket and double the recipe each time…) and stir till well combined.

Use 1/2 to 3/4 cup per load (depending on size and soil). Detergent will gel upon cooling; shake or stir before use.

This is unscented (mostly–unless your soap is fragrant,) but you may add essential oil for scent if you desire. I just use some fabric softener to soften and add scent–works for us! I think this cleans really well and costs about $15 a year for my family of six!

Have fun! (Kids love to help w/ this stuff, by the way…instant “magnet” to the kitchen! They love to help stir it in the big bucket and the older ones like grating the soap–good way to let them be involved in caring for the family!)

My Walgreens (in Noblesville, IN) had changed the $2 diaper coupon to a $1 one. It said $1 on the reverse, so they changed the 2 to a 1 on the front on all flyers. Oh well, with my .50 coupon I guess it wasn’t a terrible price…

Didn’t have a chance to blog about my Huggies deal this week, so I’ll leave it here. Got 3 packs of diapers at CVS for less than $15.

I wanted to let you know about a great deal (I think) on laundry detergent. I found it on a website called slickdeals. I got 2 boxes from sears and choose in store pick up so I didn’t have to pay for shipping. There seems to be % cash back on websites like ebates and there’s also probably some coupon codes. I use it in warm water because it dissolves better but it is great at getting stains out. It lasts a long time too-we use less than the recommended amount.

Just wanted to let you know…

I emailed huggies saying that I loved their products and I like to use mostly huggies, but would love some coupons. 3 days later I received 3 $1 off ANY huggies product coupons. hooray! I’ll be using those with $2 off wipes at walgreens, since our wipes here are 3.29 a tub!
