Thanks for all the tips this week! Can’t wait to get out and buy.
This week when I went to CVS, my EB’s scanned as “CVS MFG Coupons”, thus not reducing the tax on my bill. Did anyone else have this happen?
Thanks for posting the Mr. Linky!
I actually went to CVS this morning and they have chagned how they do their ECB. They are now ringing up as CVS MFR COUPON. So they are seeing them as a manufacture coupon and you have to pay tax on it! Hopefully they will change it back.
Olay.com has a rebate form for $20 off $50 purchase. Combine this with CVS ECB’s and coupons for a really great deal!
The last few weeks, every time I go into my CVS, they are out of the free school supplies. I go as soon as church is over and by noon they are out of everything free! It’s getting frustrating and I guess if I want something bad enough I’ll have to get up and go at 7 when they open.
*Deal Idea*
Buy 1 Styler and 1 Shampoo or Conditioner
Use B1G1 coupon from the 7/26 RedPlum insert and $1/1 coupon from the 7/5 P&G insert
$0.50 each after coupons and ECB
I tried this and the cashier said I could not use both coupons. What do I do when this happens? I had a line of people so I did not want to make a big deal.
*Deal*
Buy 2 Neutrogena Products at $3.49 each
Use 2 $3 coupons from the 6/21 RedPlum insert or the August All You magazine
Free plus possible overage after coupons and sale
ok so the two items are 3.49 , total 6.98 minus the two $3.00 Q’s .98, minus the BOGO amount of $3.49 makes it Money maker of $2.51 are they allowing this if you have products in this transaction to use the $2.51? maybe three of the .99 items to make a OOP .46 plus tax? i am also thinking of using the toothpaste of 2.88 use $1.00 Q and get back the $2.00 ecb.
is this something that will be allowed or no go?

I could only find Neutrogena STARTING at 5.99….after I searched high and lo for a cheaper product. It was the makeup remover. Was bummed, but it still worked out ok.
Thanks so much for the great list (as always)!
I went ahead and posted a link back to you

Wow, I am still confused (maybe more so) on how ECBs and tax works.
The good news is, I bought tampons, toothpaste, conditioner, and mousse today at CVS and paid only 47 cents. I used $5 in ECBs and got $4.98 back in ECBs.
I guess I could have gotton a filler (like those caramels at the counter) because my subtotal was less than $5, so I lost some of my ECB and had to pay tax. But knowing me, I would have screwed that up. Oh well, I still did pretty good.
I drove to 4 different CVS stores today and ALL of the Swingline staplers were out of stock! Guess I need to start waking up earlier on Sundays! It’s a zoo out there! The staplers were the only things I wanted to get this week.
The cheapest Neutrogena product I could find was $8.99. What is the item that is available for $3.99? HELP
I was so disappointed because this is the second week that I have gone to CVS (3 different ones, actually) right on Sunday, and they are completely sold out on the free-after-ECB items. I did get a raincheck, but it’s the point. As a mom with a disabled child, I don’t have time to run back and forth to get this stuff. How can they run out on the first day of the sale???
I don’t think I am going to bother with it. I went to Walmart, got everything in one trip and can forget about it until school starts.
My BIC coupon was only good for $1/2 :-/
Do you have the link for the Arm and Hammer printable coupon? Thanks!
Link for Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergents doesn’t seem to be working…. Thanks!
Can I use a coupon and an ECB? I have $1.98 in ECBs. Could I get the Colgate toothpaste for $2.88, use a $1 q and my $1.98 ECB, and still get the ECBs back? Thanks!
My CVS has been out of a few things too the past few weeks but they have been substituting other items in their place. Both times I just asked if they were substituting and the manager said Yes! So, it never hurts to ask. :0)
My local CVS actually still had the “until Tuesday” deals in the back room on MONDAY! The manager, who is very helpful, said he just really has time to worry about the weeklong sales. So now I go to a more stocked CVS a few more miles away. They have everything.
I don’t shop on Sundays, so I usually go first thing on Mondays. Sometimes the deals are gone..but that’s just the chance I take and I live with it. It’s free, after all! And there are always other deals right around the corner.
DEAl Alert!
I went yesterday to take advantage of the 3 day sale . . . got lots of great free school supplies! But I also decided to pick up a lunch box cooler eventhough my son loses them regularly but they had really nice ones for $12 -13 (according to the price scanner) plus you got 3 ECBs back. Well when I was at checkout the lunch box rang up as $6 off or $7 total . . . minus the 3 ECBs I got a really nice lunchbox for only $4! I don’t know if they will all ring up this way, but you might check it out!
I heart CVS!
Today at my CVS not all of the Kashi items worked in the deal. One type of chewy bar worked, but another didn’t. I bought the wrong one, then, because I had paid with ECBs, they refused to refund the purchase price or even trade. I just now realized that I was refunded the $.54 I paid OOP for the whole box, then they made me pay again for the right box in full to get the $5 ECB deal. I’m an idiot. I should just have bought the new box and saved the old one! I paid twice for one box! Think I’ll call Customer service on that one.
Plus, the swingline staplers were no where to be found, but the other brand was working $3.19 reg price rings up as $.99 with the ECBs. Just the wrong brand in the add. HTH.
When stuff is out of stock, always ask for a raincheck. You don’t have make a “special” trip back to get it, just use it next time you’re in the store. There is no expiration date. I used a raincheck item last week to boost my total to $30 so I could use a $5/30 coupon. That was helpful since some of the current week free items were out of stock.
I couldn’t use both coupons on the Herbal Essence shampoo and styler. The cashier even tried to ‘cheat’ and enter it manually and the computer still wouldn’t take both coupons.
I got all the free stuff, but when I tried to use 3 coupons on my three boxes of Kashi cereal, it only let me use 2 of them. The cash register wouldn’t take the third. Maybe if I had bought 2 boxes with 2 coupons in one transaction, then done another one with another coupon to get my $5 ECB, it might have worked, but like the previous poster, there was a line and I didn’t want to make a scene, and also I wasn’t 100% sure that if I bought the three Kashi boxes in 2 transactions I would still get the ECB. As for Neutrogena, nothing at my store was marked on sale, and we couldn’t find anything cheap. My daughter was actually wanting eye makeup so this would have been perfect, but she ended up buying some Maybelline stuff (not on sale) because it was what she wanted and the prices were reasonable.
Sorry, the brand of stapler is Xacto. It was working with the ECb deal.
Could you post the link for the Arm and Hammer coupons? The post says “printable coupons” but it is not linked to the actual coupons. Thanks!
Does anyone know the official corporate policy on rainchecks at CVS? Or where I might find it online somewhere. When I was there Sunday evening and asked, they said they weren’t supposed to write them for the 3-day sales, but HELLO? If they’re out of the item on sale, isn’t that the point of a raincheck?? She did it for me anyway – she said “for the little one” since I am 8 months pregnant. How about doing it because that’s the purpose of a raincheck? I would love to print out their policy and bring it to them to show them that they should do rainchecks on limited time sales. Every sale is “limited time only.”
As an employee of CVS I know that we are not allowed to give rainchecks for the 3 day sales. Not sure why. Call 1-800- SHOP-CVS if you have questions regarding this. They should be able to help.
Update to my question above: I did email CVS, and here was their response – it says nothing about exclusions of 3-day sales from rainchecks – nor does it say it in the ad, which is the criteria as outlined below:
There are several different criteria regarding rain checks that must be met in order to obtain one:
1) An item must be on sale to qualify for a rain check.
2) Rain checks are not available on items that are not regularly carried (i.e. seasonal merchandise, bonus packs).
3) If a store is willing to substitute the sale item for a comparable item, a rain check will not be given.
4) If the sales flyer indicates quantities limited or ‘no rain checks’, a rain check cannot be given.
5) The Store Manager has the discretion to limit the quantity of items on the rain check.
6) Rain checks do not expire.
7) Rain checks can be redeemed at any CVS/pharmacy location.
She also said that she would contact the district manager to clear it up with the store manager since they sort of gave me a hard time about it and no one seems to know or understand the real policy. HTH someone else!
Mine too was out of the staplers, but I got a raincheck. I always get raincheckseven on the 3 day sale and you will still get your ECB when you redeem them!
On another note, I was wondering about overage. I have purchased items already this week and I am used to being over a little sometimes with the coupon vs the actualy total. However, I just got my hands on the Breeze2 $30 coupon that is on sale for $19.99. Will you actually get the overage or do they adjust it? I need to buy diapers this week too, so that would be great!
Kashi products are $4.69+ at my CVS, which doesn’t stock the cereal bars. The cereal itself is pretty bland so that left me with the crackers and it didn’t seem worth it at that starting price.

BIG score for me at my local CVS today: Boost Nutritional drinks(reg. $18.99/12 pk) are on sale this week for 7.99, w/ $1 ECB (limit 1). Grabbed 10 packs, used 10 $1 coupons from the machine at the display, plus (2) $4/20 CVS coupons from the pharmacy’s coupon book (ask for it when you get your Rx filled there this month!), $8 in ECB’s from the school supplies I bought moments before-and in 3 transactions, got $200 worth for $59. This store also had Carnation Instant Breakfast 75% off, so I bought all they had at 1.74 ea (reg. 5.99), used more CVS coupons & ECB’s, and scored 8 boxes for $7. Yes, that’s ALOT of Boost & Instant Breakfast, but the Pediasure and similar products his medical condition requires are very expensive, so I’m very grateful for this find today!
Addendum to my post: Sent my husband to CVS this a.m. to use his EC card to score more Boost—and he was told the weekly ad has the price incorrect for the 12-packs and that store’s now not honoring the advertised price. Not cool.Just a word of caution for those interested….
