An update on the SkinCareRX offer–even better than I thought!

Edit: After I posted this, the site started getting hammered and it is now running incredibly slow. It also appears they have raised some of their prices and it's possible that they are no longer allowing the gift card to pay for the shipping costs as well. I am not completely sure on that, though, so if you are able to get through to try and place an order, let us know what your experience is.

Also, I placed my order this afternoon and I've already received confirmation that it has been shipped out. How's that for quick customer service?!

I posted the SkinCareRX gift card offer earlier and I just finished placing my own order and realized that this deal is even better than I originally thought! Right now, the free $20 gift card is covering the shipping costs as well so if you order something for $14 or less, it should be entirely free.

I ordered some Logona Shampoo from Skin Botanica which retails for $13.50 (they just raised the price tonight to $17.50 so this is no longer free) and I paid $0.00 out of pocket for it! Best of all? The whole process took me under five minutes to complete!

Go here for the instructions on how to get your $20 gift card. Then, go to SkinCareRX, Apothica, or Skin Botanica and find something which is priced at less than $14. There are a number of different all natural and organic skin care products
here, here, and here which are $14 or less and will be free with this
gift card offer!

Add the $14 or less product(s) to your cart and checkout paying with your $20 gift card. The gift card should cover the shipping, too, and if you choose your gift card and Paypal as your payment methods you'll not only pay $0.00 out of pocket, but you'll also not have to input your credit card information.

What did you order for free? Let us know!

Thanks for letting us know about this one. I just got myself some fancy soap!

2 Danielle July 17, 2009 at 4:29 pm

I just ordered myself Estion sunscreen with zinc SPF 38 ($13.95). When I went to check out, it was only applying $13.95 of the gift certificate to my order, but I was easily able to change it myself and it applied $19.90, the total with shipping. Also, I did not even check that I was paying with PayPal and it never asked for any payment information.

I’m doing something wrong. Every time I click on the link in the email they sent, it just takes me to a page that says to enter my name and email address. When I do, it takes me back to the page asking for five of my friends. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for all the hard work you do to help us provide for our families!

Thanks for this! I just got a 24oz bath salt for $.95 shipped after the gift card was applied! I used paypal so I didn’t have to enter card numbers

5 Kim July 17, 2009 at 4:39 pm

I am having the same trouble as Julie.

6 Angie July 17, 2009 at 4:41 pm

cannot get mine to work-the dashes keep adding up and no orage check mark available? WTHeck am I doing wrong.

7 MARY July 17, 2009 at 4:42 pm

If you can’t get it to work, call customer service!! I just did and they will do it all for you! Oh and you can only use 1 either the e-gift card OR the promo code. Not both! Hope that helps. The customer service number is To Order or for Customer Service

How long did it take to get emails back? I have been waiting, but no email back at all.

9 Amy July 17, 2009 at 4:47 pm

I’m having the same trouble getting my gift card. I’m in an endless loop between their site and my e-mail. (Just like Julie).

10 MJ July 17, 2009 at 5:00 pm

If you’re having problems using the gift card, here is what I suggest. I didn’t go through PayPal, it kept giving me an error. But since my total after shipping was less than the GC, it didn’t ask for CC info. To get the system to take the card #, I first copied it into notepad, removed all the dashes, pasted that into the field then clicked out of the field. It added all the dashes correctly and took just a couple seconds, but pulled in gift card info. I ordered from Apothica, their Pure White Tea Rose Toner for 13.95, total 19.90 so it was free.

11 Karen July 17, 2009 at 5:03 pm

To all who are having trouble getting the gift card – when you click on the link in the “SkinCareRx Gift Certificate Invitation” email, it should take you to a page that says “Claim Your $20 Gift Card.” You have to enter your name and email address again and click “send”, and you should get another email titled “Our Gift to You” with your gift certificate code in the email. Then you can enter that gift certificate code in the gift certificate field at checkout and you’re good to go! Also, I didn’t have to enter my credit card information (even without selecting Paypal) since the gift certificate covered my total.

I ordered the Honey Almond body lotion for $14, so it came to $19.95 total. What a great promotion! Thank you for letting us know about it Crystal!

12 Finance Girl July 17, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Check your email again. You should get a second one with the code.

13 Carrie July 17, 2009 at 5:12 pm

I am not getting an email at all. I called the help # and they said they would resend it, but no email at all. How long did it take to get the email that needed to be confirmed? Was it instant or hours delay?

14 Nunu July 17, 2009 at 5:15 pm

Hey

Thanks a ton for this offer! I just ordered a Colorescience Eye Pencil – Baby Blue Eyes ! Looks nice and my order processed without any glitches! Love it :)

15 Amy Sanders July 17, 2009 at 5:19 pm

Thanks, that an awesome deal. I got the linen spray for 17.95 total.

16 Samantha Witt July 17, 2009 at 5:19 pm

Thanks so much! I just got 2 bars of organic soap for free!! That is awesome! It took a little longer than 5 min for me but I think that is just because the site is overloaded right now. I am so excited to get my free soap!

17 Amy @ Finer Things July 17, 2009 at 5:22 pm

I just ordered

Deep Steep Moisture Stick – Tangerine Melon Qty: 1 $5.00
Deep Steep Moisture Stick – Honeydew Spearmint Qty: 2 $4.50

Didn’t pay a thing. My dry, cracked heels thank you! :)

18 Christy July 17, 2009 at 5:22 pm

I ordered the Fruits & Passion Fruit Foaming Bath in Pear Peony for $13 plus $5.95 for shipping = FREE after using the gift card and I did not have to enter credit card info at checkout.

I LOVE all of the great deals everyone posts every single day! This is seriously the absolute best site ever!!!!!

Sincerely,
Another “Money Saving Mom” :)

19 Caren July 17, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Check your spam or bulk email for the gift certificate. That’s where mine was. You should receive the email almost immediately.

20 Erica W July 17, 2009 at 5:37 pm

Carrie… Did you make sure to put yourself as one of the 5 “friends”? If you just fill in your name at the top then they can’t send you an email.

21 JK July 17, 2009 at 5:42 pm

No trouble until I tried to check out. I called Customer Service and spoke with Ashley. She said that they are having trouble with their server and are working on it. Try back in a few minutes and hopefully it will work. If you want, they will call you back too. I guess when the server is up and running good.

22 Heather July 17, 2009 at 5:55 pm

Thanks! What a great deal! Seems like the server is OVERWHELMED!!!! All of us Money Saving Mom fans must be logging on at the same time! :)

23 Jennifer July 17, 2009 at 6:03 pm

I think we crashed the site! I got the email and could open up the link 20 minutes ago but now it isn’t working. I wonder if they are going to sell our of the offers or if as long as you have a code you can use it later?

Hope I can still get something! Thanks for posting this.

24 Michelle July 17, 2009 at 6:11 pm

I think they fixed it now so that you have to pay for shipping. The website is still very slow, but even though I only had $14 in my cart, it still wanted to charge me $5.95 for shipping. Bummer. So I added $5 more to my total to make it a better deal.

25 misty July 17, 2009 at 6:12 pm

You can also sweeten this deal even further by using a promo code. SHOPRES10 will give you 10% off your entire order.

26 chris July 17, 2009 at 6:22 pm

Yayyy! Fun on a Friday shopping for free! I just got the Lonona Volume Shampoo-Honey Beer, $18.70 total with shipping and came out with a ZERO balance! Thank you, Thank you!

27 Tina July 17, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Having trouble here too with applying the gift certificate. Even with copy/paste it is adding extra dashes and not giving me the ability to apply the GC. will try again later.

28 Sarah July 17, 2009 at 6:23 pm

I got a bottle of grapefruit body wash and some tangerine foaming hand soap and ended up paying $1.95. What a steal!!! If you are going to do this, just be prepared to be very patient as it took me over an hour to get it processed. It will work, it just takes forever. Patience is a virtue, right? :)

29 sarah July 17, 2009 at 6:24 pm

I was able to get Waleda organic baby wash for $.95 shipped. Deals for natural/organic products are rare! Thanks!

30 Chrissy July 17, 2009 at 6:29 pm

I’m having trouble checking out too. I waited FOREVER after I clicked place order and it finally just said Error on Page :(

31 Ashley A. July 17, 2009 at 6:32 pm

Remember—you can only use the eGift certificate OR the promo codes that have been listed here in one transaction. I tried to use both, but a screen popped up and said that, so I returned to my order screen and removed the promo code. When I processed the order that time, the site would only run the gift certificate amount for the amount my total had been previously ($18.85)…so due to that I had to pay $1.40 through my Paypal account. I emailed customer service, so I will see what can be done about this. I know it’s only $1.40 but it was supposed to have been free. :-(

32 denise July 17, 2009 at 6:34 pm

Thank you!! I just ordered the organic citrus body wash.

33 alicia July 17, 2009 at 6:50 pm

the link is now broken, i cannot even get to the page to get the gift card.

34 Erica W July 17, 2009 at 7:00 pm

I just ordered the Linden & Pomegranate Soaps and a Deep Steep moisture stick! Thanks for posting this!

35 Lana July 17, 2009 at 7:10 pm

I ordered a jasmine/gardenia candle – my fave fragance! Can’t wait to get it! Totally FREE! YEAH!

I can’t wait to use the Bath and Body works tomorrow…

Did I mention how much I love getting your emails?

Blessings to you!!!

36 Lindsay July 17, 2009 at 7:14 pm

Still can’t get it can someone generously offer me a code?

37 Lindsay July 17, 2009 at 7:14 pm

Oops ===iamnotlexi@yahoo.com

38 Ellen Drake July 17, 2009 at 7:23 pm

Just called customer service– the website has crashed from all of the users taking advantage of the promotion!!! They are taking phone orders, though, and are happy to apply your e-gift card. Great service!

39 Paige July 17, 2009 at 7:32 pm

The site is having trouble loading, I was going to order a $12.95 shower gel, with $5.95 shipping.. I had to close and reopen.. now its saying the price is $15.95 and $6.95 shipping… um.. did they really just raise the prices?

40 Frugal Femina July 17, 2009 at 7:34 pm

So many wonderful things to choose from! I got the derma e Vanilla Bean Cleansing Mousse and paid $0!

41 Summer July 17, 2009 at 7:39 pm

I’m thinking they fixed it now, as it is now saying I must pay for shipping. Bummer! Still a great deal, but I’m too cheap to pay for shipping for stuff I don’t “need” :)

42 Paige July 17, 2009 at 7:43 pm

and now they took the shipping out of the gift card, as well as raising the price of it!!.. not impressed

43 Alice July 17, 2009 at 7:44 pm

I just ordered two Deep Steep mini body scrubs, and with shipping it was just less than $20, so it was totally free! Thank you so much!

44 Christy July 17, 2009 at 7:47 pm

This was a great deal. I just started a money/budget blog and this was a great deal to try out to post about. I linked back to your original post (giving you credit, of course!) but I was able to do this rather easily and ended up getting some fantastic looking body butter…I can’t wait til it gets here! Thank you for sharing!!!

45 diana July 17, 2009 at 7:52 pm

My advice… pick your products and then call… the lady i talked to was so nice and said she would “take care of me” which means my two items for free since I didnt’ give anyform of payment!! :D

46 Emilie July 17, 2009 at 7:53 pm

My order has been processing for over half an hour…keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks so much for sharing this promotion!

47 Abby H July 17, 2009 at 8:01 pm

my shipping was a bit more…maybe I am farther away?! It was 6.95…who knows. I only spent 45 cents…so I cant complain. Thanks for the info!

48 Janet July 17, 2009 at 8:05 pm

By the way, the website has changed the prices. The shampoo that was $13.50 is now $17.50. How very smart of them. Thanks anyway.

49 Jenna July 17, 2009 at 8:21 pm

The website is crawling like a turtle in mud right now!

50 YooperSnowflake July 17, 2009 at 8:33 pm

Thanks for this great offer! They are having issues with their system as mentioned earlier. I just spoke to Customer Service (who were supposed to be home already but are sticking around to help us!) and she took my order and had to write it down! Ordered two of the deep steep skin sticks (mint and tangerine). Have patience, they are SWAMPED with interested customers. :)

51 Rachel July 17, 2009 at 8:36 pm

Wow that was incredibly easy to do. I love deals like this…I just hope there isn’t a catch!

52 Megan July 17, 2009 at 8:36 pm

I couldn’t resist and bought the strawberry body butter scrub for $4.95 (will get at least $0.50 back from ebates)! Even though it wasn’t free, it’s a great deal and will be a special treat. Thanks so much for posting this!

53 shristi July 17, 2009 at 8:40 pm

This definitely took a VERY long time, but was awesome when it finally worked out. I think using ebates.com makes it extra slow, so I just did it straight to the website. I found a body wash for $13 with $6.95 shipping, totaling $19.95. I changed the amount of the gift card that was applied from $13 to $20 and then it worked out to be FREE! woohoo! Just make sure you manually change the dollar amount that’s applied, otherwise it won’t cover shipping. Good luck and make sure to give yourself at least 30-60 mins to make this work!

54 Katherine July 17, 2009 at 8:41 pm

I attempted to order some eye makeup priced at $13.99. Initially it said the shipping was going to be $5.95, which would bring the total to just under the $20. By the time I got the page to load, the shipping had gone up to $6.95.

I attempted to check out anyways, but when it finally (after about an hour) went through, it showed I would be charged for the shipping on my credit card. I cancelled, because I was looking for it to be free. I can get cheaper make-up at Walmart.

I would have called the customer support number, but it was already almost 8:00pm and someone posted earlier their hours are until 7:00pm. And I am at work, so I am not supposed to be on my phone.

Oh well. Would have been cool if it had worked though. Thanks for sharing the good deal.

55 Stephanie July 17, 2009 at 8:48 pm

It seems they’ve raised prices? The shampoo you listed as 13.50 is not listed as 17.50. Also, shipping is 6.95, so that means you have to find something 13.05 or under for completely free!

I’m having loads of problems with the website too. Patiently waiting. :)

56 candy July 17, 2009 at 8:48 pm

It is not working for me! So annoying! It seemed like I almost had it done and it has been processing for an hour! I tried it in another window and now it is wanting to charge me $6.95 for shipping! grrr!
I was SO excited about this!

57 Sarah July 17, 2009 at 8:56 pm

I’m getting the same thing, it won’t apply to the shipping amount. Bummer!

58 Sarah July 17, 2009 at 9:07 pm

This has to be the slowest running site in the universe! I have my gc code and have been trying for hours to get my product checked out. My first problem was that I tried to use both codes and now it is taking forever. Plus, the first time my shipping was 5.95 and now it is 6.95 for the same item. Not cool.

59 Shauna Sweeney July 17, 2009 at 9:38 pm

Just keep refreshing the pages. I had to do that several times. It took quite a few minutes, but hey, I got free soap! I bought some special eczema soap for my son, and it was perfectly free, even after shipping. Yea!

60 bethany July 17, 2009 at 9:39 pm

I just did this at 9:37 pm CST and it DID let me use the 20 toward shipping. I ordered the cradle cap oil for 16 and shipping was 6.95, up a dollar from earlier when the site was so slow and would never process. I really can’t complain though…2.95 for all natural cradle cap oil for a baby on the way! Thanks for the post :)

61 Mandy July 17, 2009 at 9:47 pm

I just tried to redeem my gift certificate, and this is what the website said: Due to overwhelming demand…
We have temporarily suspended our Refer a Friend $20 promotion.

They are offering a different promotion that will give you 20% off qualifying orders…. but that’s not quite as good as free!

62 Lynn July 17, 2009 at 9:49 pm

I just entered my information for a gift card and they are no longer accepting this offer. I pasted the information from http://skincarerx.com. I was looking forward to this great deal. :(

Due to overwhelming demand…
We have temporarily suspended our Refer a Friend $20 promotion.

We are now offering Friend20

63 Erin July 17, 2009 at 9:51 pm

I just now (finally) got my order through. I got some blush I had eyed previously at Apothica that was $18 (before shipping) for a total of $4.95 (so yes, the gift card does still cover shipping.) I’m so excited to finally be getting some blush light enough for my skintone! I had found some at Sephora a few months back, but it was waaay out of my budget.

64 Leigh Nielsen July 17, 2009 at 9:53 pm

says offer no longer available.

65 Cara D July 17, 2009 at 9:54 pm

They have now suspended the offer :(

66 Emilie July 17, 2009 at 9:57 pm

Yahoo! Okay, my first order eventually just ended in an error. I went back and tried again. This time, after putting in my code, it showed my $13.00 product covered but included the $5.95 shipping in my total. I went up to the box next to the gift certificate amount and changed “Amount Used” from $13.00 to $20.00. It then automatically changed THAT amount to $19.95, making my amount due $0.00! It went through and I got a confirmation number without entering any credit card information.

So it looks like the site is no longer automatically using the codes to cover shipping but it WILL accept it if manually entered. I hope that made sense! Thanks again!

67 Mandy July 17, 2009 at 9:58 pm

68 Kristen T July 17, 2009 at 10:00 pm

YEAH!! that only took an hour and a half… but it was worth it! I bought 3 Deep Steep Skin Sticks… and cant wait till they come in the mail! I didn’t have any problems, except the site running REALLY REALLY slow! Again, totally worth it! Thank you for all your time keeping up this site… i love checking it multiple times a day and tell all my friends about it!!!

69 Addie July 17, 2009 at 10:01 pm

They are no longer doing the promotion :-(
Offering a 20% code instead.

70 Beth July 17, 2009 at 10:01 pm

I just got through, finally! Hooray for free nail polish. They did raise some of their prices, but it still let me use the gift certificate to cover the shipping cost. Make sure you enter it as a gift card on the final checkout screen NOT as a promo code under the view my cart section.

71 Kristen T July 17, 2009 at 10:02 pm

I just placed my order, and the gift card covered the shipping cost…. THANKS!!!

72 jillian July 17, 2009 at 10:06 pm

No one is picking up of you try to call. Oh Well. any news on if shipping is still included?

73 TMVarble July 17, 2009 at 10:07 pm

Ok, it took 2 1/2 hours, but I FINALLY got my order placed on skinbotanica. Got the melon ginger body lotion, $19.45 with shipping. Gift card paid for the whole thing. Site is running super slow, be warned!!!

74 Sonia McNeely July 17, 2009 at 10:08 pm

I just completed my order, it did take forever but her are some good pointers. You can not use any discount codes with your order. You can use the gift certificate towards shipping, I had to go back up to the box with the amount to be applied and change it. Also to speed the check out process you should register as a user first. After I did that it only took a couple of minutes to check out. I do think they raised their prices, even so I ordered the sunscreen wipes and had to pay $3.95 out of pocket (Wipes were $17.00 plus $6.95 shipping). Not to bad for something that comes right to your door and it is something I can use on our upcoming vacation.

75 Ginger July 17, 2009 at 10:09 pm

they have suspended the offer.

76 Julia @ The Frugal Find July 17, 2009 at 10:14 pm

I just tried it at 8:15 and it worked just fine, I ordered 2 items totaling $13.71 + shipping and I ended up owing $0.66, thanks for this awesome find!

77 Hope July 17, 2009 at 10:16 pm

I just purchased the lavender hand lotion with no problem and with the shipping included in the gift card. Thanks for the link–I am really looking forward to trying a new product for free!

78 Allison July 17, 2009 at 10:18 pm

I was able to order on-line but it no longer allows the shipping within the $20 gift cert. I then took advantage of the $20..paid the extra for shipping. Still an awesome deal! I got the Pyrenees Lavender soap for $10 and the Fig Body Butter for $11.50 so a total oop of $8.45. Great gifts..for pretty cheap!

79 Jenna July 17, 2009 at 10:23 pm

They took away the credit for shipping- so the minimum you have to pay is $6.95- bummer.

80 Ashley July 17, 2009 at 10:23 pm

So if you call c.s. are you still getting the free shipping?

81 Heather July 17, 2009 at 10:24 pm

I just placed my order – you DON”T type in your gift card code in the promotion box. Wait until you get to the “How to Pay” page and then type it in the Gift Card box. Also, I ordered a $15 item (the Caldrea All-Purpose Cleaner) and it automatically only deducted $15 from my GC. However, I just changed it to deduct all $20 from the GC and it went through just fine, so my total OOP was $1.95! Can’t beat that even for yucky-smelling-chemical regular cleaner!

82 Karilee July 17, 2009 at 10:25 pm

Thanks Crystal!! I got my gift card earlier today and just sat down and placed my order for Aromafloria Soothing Hand creme in Honey Papaya It was $13.00 and with shipping the whole order totaled $19.95…the gift card covered it all AND I went through Ebates too! Awesome!
Thanks again for your great blog!!

83 maranda July 17, 2009 at 10:31 pm

they are no longer offering the gift card but they are honoring the ones that have already been recived so if you havnt gotten the code you will not be able to get one

84 Tiffany July 17, 2009 at 10:38 pm

I got my gift certificate code this evening and kept trying over and over again and it didn’t work. Never contacted customer service, but when I tried to place my order for Ginseng & Ester-C Firming Creme ($11) again this evening with the same code,it went through on the first try! Also went through ebates. Hopefully they figured out some of the problems by now!

85 Liz @ Sweetwater Savings July 17, 2009 at 10:39 pm

I just tried to get my mom’s $20 code to order for her and the offer is now dead. They will honor the $20 codes already given out, but are now only offering a code for 20% off. I was able to get my order in finally and they did raise the prices and the shipping from when I first tried. I was still able to get some lip therapy for free and am very happy. Thanks so much!

86 Centsible In Seattle July 17, 2009 at 10:41 pm

I was still able to order for free…but depending on where you live your shipping costs could be higher. I am in the Seattle area and standard shipping was $6.95 for me so I had to order something for $13 to get it completely free. I found an exfoliating cleanser and it worked just fine. Thanks for tip, great deal, I will link back to you.

87 Dawn P July 17, 2009 at 10:41 pm

I couldn’t use eBates, as it was too slow, but followed the link in my email. After about an hour of trying, everything went through spledidly – $13 for Georgia Peach bubble path at Apothica + 5.95 shipping, but they let me use the giftcard for the whole thing. I’d say, well worth it even for an hour’s work. THANK YOU! :) (We have only a tub – no shower – so bubble bath is a big deal for me to find free or cheap.)

88 Lisa July 17, 2009 at 10:42 pm

No longer offering the 20 gift card. They have changed it to 20% off! Congrats to those who got free stuff!

89 candy July 17, 2009 at 10:43 pm

the prices have increased like crazy! AND the GC will no longer pay for shipping, which increased from $5.95 to $6.95.
I was looking at some lip balm that was $3.50. Then $5.00, and now it is $8.00!
Some lotion used to be $9.50, then $12.50, and now it is $16.00.
Outrageous that they raised their prices! Their site was having so many stinking issues that I never got anything! Big fat bummer!

90 loanpopo July 17, 2009 at 10:45 pm

just finished my order & it went thru without a hitch – those w/problems applying the giftcard to shipping, there is a box that says how much of the giftcard to apply. you may need to change it so that it covers the shipping. mine worked just fine after changing the amount in the box. they raised some prices but there’s still plenty of items available that you can get for free after shipping – i had a hard time deciding what to get! i made sure to pay a little tho, b/c if i charge a certain number of transactions a month, i get 7% interest on my savings, up to $150/month. gotta love multitasking!

91 Jennifer July 17, 2009 at 10:46 pm

Their website is up and running again now, I just ordered this stila mascara ($12.50) with shipping ($6.95) for free so the code will still take off the shipping!

http://apothica.com/Stila-Cosmetics-Lash-Visor—Waterproof-Mascara—Brown.html

Also if you did not already get your $20 gift certificate they are no longer giving them out “due to overwhelming demand”

92 Renata July 17, 2009 at 10:52 pm

Looks like the Refer A Friend $20 promotion is being temporarily suspended. They will honor existing GC’s but looks like the new promo is Friend20 where you get 20% off qualifying products. I guess the $20 promotion went a little better than they thought!

93 Sarah Romine July 17, 2009 at 11:08 pm

I was able to order the Pomegranate hand cream ($13 plus $6.95 shipping = free). I also sent the coupon to a family member who tried to use it, but the site said that they had temporarily suspended the offer and were now offering 20% off. I already had my gift card code, so I was able to go in and place an order, but I’m thinking that’s probably the end of it. I had a bit of a problem getting it to use the full gift card amount, as some others have mentioned. It wanted to only process the cost of the item and not the shipping, but I was able to just delete the amount of the gift card that was being used and put in the full $19.95 which included the shipping. Just thought I’d mention that in case anyone else is having a similar problem.

94 Tonya July 17, 2009 at 11:12 pm

Very nice customer service said websight crashed and techs were working on it. Try again Monday.

95 Mandy July 17, 2009 at 11:12 pm

Deal is dead! They’ve suspended the $20 gift card due to overwhelming demand and now have a promotional code for 20% off instead!!

96 Lorrie July 17, 2009 at 11:19 pm

Crystal,
Thanks for letting us know about this. I did not have any trouble using the gift card. I did try to add the 20% discount code I found, but it would not let me combine the two.

I was only planning to spend the $20. It did let me get something for $13 and then the shipping was free. I decided to keep looking and ended up getting free shipping for spending over $49 before the $20 gift card.

I ended up getting baby lotion, baby shampoo, diaper cream, and stretch mark oil all for $33 shipped! I would have spent way more then that at the health food store.

97 Holly July 17, 2009 at 11:23 pm

Just ordered the cherry lip balm that was $8 and got it free. I had two items for $14 total, but with shipping would have been $20.95- so I put one back to get it all for free instead of paying .95 (I know I am too cheap!) The site is working really fast now and I didn’t have to enter any payment information. Hope this helps!

98 Kristy@tomorrowsplight.blogspot.com July 17, 2009 at 11:28 pm

Thought you might want to know this, just saw it on the site…

Due to overwhelming demand…
We have temporarily suspended our Refer a Friend $20 promotion. All existing gift certificates will be honored.

We are now offering FRIEND20
FRIEND20 is a coupon promotion which discounts your order by 20% for qualifying products.

Check back frequently or sign up for our newsletter to receive our next exciting promotion.

FRIEND20 is available on SkinCareRX.com, Apothica.com and SkinBotanica.com

I was able to get my order through for body wash, although it took a long time it was worth it to get it for free, thank you!

99 Tina July 17, 2009 at 11:34 pm

Worked for me at 9:30 p.m. Pacific Time. I was able to order the Mustela Bebe Baby Shampoo that was $19.95 including shipping and my GC covered it all. So it looks like you can still use the GC for shipping.

100 Merideth July 17, 2009 at 11:56 pm

Hi Crystal!
Just a note to update you that they are no longer offering the Refer-a-friend for $20 e-gift promotion. It seems due to overwhelming demand they have closed it down. Just thought I’d update you! Thanks for sharing such a great deal! :)
-Merideth

101 DanaJ July 18, 2009 at 12:03 am

And now it looks like they’ve suspended this deal altogether…but will honor those orders placed today. I’m bummed that I waited on this one…

102 Barbara P July 18, 2009 at 12:09 am

I saved my shopping cart and was able to get my shower gel for $14 and $6.95 shipping, I ended up paying $0.95. They jacked it up to $17 now so I lucked out.

103 Jenni Stearns July 18, 2009 at 12:09 am

Just an FYI to all those who are having problems with getting free shipping…I just manually changed the amount of gift card I wanted to use at the top (it said the price of the item I got, and I changed it to the full 20 to get free shipping) and it worked just fine. Hope that helps!

104 Brooke July 18, 2009 at 12:09 am

This deal is taking a really long time to work. I am about $2 over and willing to pay, but the system won’t let me make a CC payment for that little. uuggghhhhh, it’s not really worth the 2 hours I’ve already put into it

105 Kate July 18, 2009 at 12:21 am

I’m a little miffed because my order never processed (I left the window open and “spinning”, because we had to go somewhere), then when I returned and re-submitted, they had raised the shipping amount $1 and would not take my coupon code. :( Oh, well…

106 Rachel July 18, 2009 at 12:28 am

Whew! I signed up right away for the code but unfortunately came back much later to purchase items (after they had raised the prices quite a bit!)

I managed to snag two moisture sticks, though, and I was able to use the code to get them for free!
Just to echo what another reader noted – enter your code unter the gift card section on the payment page – not under the promotional code (it’ll say it’s invalid/incomplete). Shipping has increased to $7 now.

Thanks so much for letting us know about this wonderful offer! It was quite chaotic but quite worth it.

107 April T July 18, 2009 at 12:49 am

They cancelled the $20 offer “due to overwhelming demand” and are now just offering 20% off. I missed out but glad for all of you who got in on this great deal!

108 melanie July 18, 2009 at 1:24 am

I got a bar of soap…I wanted to be quick and get my order in..IT WAS $9.50 for one bar of soap and $6.75 for shipping…and I paid nothing out of pocket. Thanks :)

109 alreadytriedit July 18, 2009 at 1:29 am

I was able to finally get on to the site. Yes, they have raised the price, however if you do find something around 13.00 you should still get if for free. I bought some bath salts for 18.00 and had 2.00 left over (20.00 free). The remaining 2.00 went towards part of my shipping. SO… my total was 4.95 for shipping–not to bad. :o )

110 Angela July 18, 2009 at 5:57 am

I had problems getting an order placed last night, but this morning took no time at all. So glad I found your site! I’ve been able to save so much! Bless you!!!

111 Christina July 18, 2009 at 6:07 am

I got through, but they’ve raised their minimum before they will ship. My total with shipping was $1.35 and they said that was too low for them to ship.

112 Delores July 18, 2009 at 6:09 am

Well, I just want to say thanks!!! I ordered some high SPF lip balm and it covered shipping. Yea!

113 Christina July 18, 2009 at 6:13 am

One more update. It looks like the gift certificate no longer applies towards shipping. I ordered a $20 product and paid $6.95 for shipping. Combined with the 10% back from ebates I’m still pleased with my deal.

114 Stephanie July 18, 2009 at 6:31 am

I’m bummed – this deal is dead now :(

115 Katherine July 18, 2009 at 7:00 am

I ordered this morning and the system was back at normal speed again. I purchased a product that was more than $20 but I am so happy that I was able to get $20 off a product that I want and use. Thanks for the OP.

116 Dani July 18, 2009 at 7:15 am

I had already gotten the code last night but a big storm blew in and we were without power all night. I tried this morning and was able to redeem it for an $11.95 lip plumper lip gloss on Apothica. I tried originally to go through Paypal but it wouldn’t recognize the code. Then I chose the other option and signed up for the account and it took the code just fine. It came to $18 and change and I didn’t have to enter any credit card info. Thanks! Oh, this was at 7:45am (EDT) this morning.

117 Loren July 18, 2009 at 7:23 am

Thank you! I go thte GC last night, but the site was so slow, I gave up. I just placed an order and the site is zooming this morning! I was able to get an Essie Nail Polish ($8) and a Stila Eye Pencil Sharpener ($2.50). The GC went through no problems and was applied to shipping costs, so the order was free.

118 becky July 18, 2009 at 7:26 am

After struggling with this offer for an hour last night, i gave up. Came back this morning and it worked fine. My shipping cost was $6.95 so I had to get something for $13 or less, but the gift certificate covered the shipping cost.

119 rachel July 18, 2009 at 7:31 am

Last night I could not even reach the website, but tried again first thing this morning. I had no trouble at all. I found a body wash for 12.50, and the gift card covered the shipping so it is free. Be sure to enter your gift card number in the space at the top of the page where it says specifically for a gift card, not where it says promotion code. It only took a minute so I am pretty happy !

120 Blaire Ruch July 18, 2009 at 7:39 am

They have removed the gift card offer.

121 Jolene July 18, 2009 at 7:43 am

I ordered this morning and went thru with no problems. I got the lavender shower gel and paid $1.95, great deal! It only took about 2 minutes to process.

122 Trinity July 18, 2009 at 7:47 am

Thanks for sharing this wonderful offer! I managed to get in on this on time to get a giftcard code, but had trouble checking out. I called customer service last night and the lady was very helpful. My order should be all set, she said she would send me an order confirmation email once she was able to get back in the system. The site was running slow on their end too. I ordered two soaps and didn’t have to pay for anything.

123 Kimberly July 18, 2009 at 7:55 am

My order has been processing for over 12 hours now! Somehow I don’t think it’s going to go through! We’ll see though. No error page yet. If this works it will be the longest amout of time I’ve spent on getting a deal (not that I’ve waiting the 12 hours for it to process…I was in bed asleep).

124 Jenn July 18, 2009 at 7:56 am

I just placed my order! It wanted to charge for shipping. When you are placing your order it says the gift card balance is $20 and amount to be taken from gift card is what ever product total you had.
For example, I bought my fave soap for $11. I changed the amount to be used from the gift card from $11 to 17.95 (to make up for the 6.95 shipping) and the amount on the bottom changed to $0! I think that once you get to that screen it might make more sense. Wanted to post this because I saw a few of you giving up if you had to pay for shipping.

Cheers!
Jenn

125 Corrie @ "Cents"able Momma July 18, 2009 at 8:02 am

I just placed my order for a lip balm, and the gift certificate is still covering the shipping. I was unable to get on last night to place my order, but the site is working fine right now.

126 Aimee Page July 18, 2009 at 8:08 am

They have now suspended the program. I’m checking at 9am on Saturday. :( I never got my email either. Oh well, it was a good deal while it lasted. Thanks!

127 Kimberly July 18, 2009 at 8:13 am

One last update from me (hopefully this helps someone). After leaving an order processing over night I just opened another window and tried it again. It worked right away. The site is fast this morning. I did have to manually change the gift card amout being used for it to cover shipping like others mentioned and it worked like a charm. If you weren’t able to get an order through last night or left it processing like I did try it again! I’ve received my order confirmation:
PURCHASE INFORMATION
Invoice Number: XXXXXXXX

PAYMENT INFORMATION
GiftCert Applied: $18.95
Amount Charged: $18.95

BILLING INFORMATION (deleted for obvious reasons)

SHIPPING INFORMATION (deleted for obvious reasons)

Red Flower Japanese Peony Little Flower Candle Qty: 1 $12.00

Shipping: Priority Mail (6.95)

Thanks to everyone who left their tips on how to make this work and updates from their CS and thanks again MSM!

128 karisa July 18, 2009 at 8:16 am

boo!! i just tried to sign up for the 20.00 gift card promo and it states “due to overwhelming response, they have suspended the promo”…

129 Carrie July 18, 2009 at 8:18 am

I ordered this am and got 3 deep steep moisture sticks. With shipping totoal was 20.45. I only had to pay .45…YEAH I can’t wait to try them.

130 Sarah Hutson July 18, 2009 at 8:19 am

There are some body washes at Skin Botanica that are $14 or less still. They used my gift card to cover shipping.

131 Holly July 18, 2009 at 8:31 am

I waited and placed my order this morning. Went smoothly and fairly quick. I got Tangarine melon foaming handwash for free! Alot of items did go up in price and the cost of shipping also seemed to go up. But alas my order was free! I did have to copy and paste the gift card number to get it to be accepted!

132 Kelly July 18, 2009 at 8:39 am

I had trouble last night getting the 2nd e-mail with the gift card #, I finally got it today. I ordered a $14.40 bottle of conditioner, my total was $21.35, so I only had to pay $1.35, however I used EBATES which is 10% back so it is still a money maker!

133 Kristi July 18, 2009 at 9:00 am

it was running slow. so i waited and checked out this morning. It applied the shipping costs as well. I guess they just needed some down time on the site.

134 Chris July 18, 2009 at 9:09 am

I just went in Saturday morning and was able to use the gift certificate. I got some tangerine body wash. I did notice the price went up from last night on alot of items. The shipping was covered with the certificate. Total cost: $0. Yeah!

135 Jessica July 18, 2009 at 9:22 am

I got my GC# early in the evening but couldn’t place an order. After 10pm I tried again and had no problem. I ordered a Mustela 2in1 baby body wash for $12 and my shipping was $6.95. My GC covered all of it! If you got a number yesterday but didn’t place an order you might want to give it a try this morning.

136 Katie Ruschman July 18, 2009 at 9:43 am

I got mine to work this morning. Much quckier than last night and it went thru just fine and I paid $0 for body wash. THanks

137 Brandy July 18, 2009 at 9:53 am

I just finished my transaction and did not have to pay for shipping. But they have stopped the promotion due to overwhelming demand. They will honor all existing gift cards, but no new ones will be issued.

138 Jami July 18, 2009 at 10:03 am

As of Saturday morning, they are no longer offering the $20 gift card. They are now offering a 20% off coupon only. :-(

139 Jennifer July 18, 2009 at 10:21 am

Couldn’t get on to the site until this morning, though I was able to get my GC last night. Ordered a couple of the deep steep moisture sticks, (rosemary mint and honeydew spearmint). My total was 11.95, shipping was 6.95 and the GC covered the whole thing. Didn’t have to enter CC info, so apparently it is still working. Thanks for this!

140 Jenifer July 18, 2009 at 10:22 am

They canceled the promotion as of this morning.

141 Andrea @rAndom issues July 18, 2009 at 10:30 am

I couldn’t access the site on Friday because it was running so slow. I waited until this morning to place my order. My gift certificate covered the cost of shipping, so nothing out of pocket. I did notice that some of the prices had gone up, including shipping.

142 ADollarSaved July 18, 2009 at 10:34 am

It seems they’ve raised some of the prices of their products so they are no longer ‘free’ with this offer….

143 Kathy Homa July 18, 2009 at 10:49 am

I just was able to order a lipgloss with shipping for free. This was at 10:50 am CST. I used the giftcard code I got last night when the site was too busy and decided to go to bed and try in the am.

144 Alison Armstrong July 18, 2009 at 10:56 am

the website was really slow when I went there but it went through. I also used 10% off code from ebates that was SKIN10. I ordered the coconut body cream that was like$17 and paid 1.25 OOP. Thanks!!

145 Dawn July 18, 2009 at 11:44 am

This is really bad business to change the rules in the middle of the game. Tried to place my order yesterday, but the site kept crashing. They raised the prices today, but I was still happy to pay the little bit extra. But from the time I started my order (went back to the site to look around and maybe purchase something else since it was such a nice offer) to the time I went to check out, they changed the gift card rule to exclude shipping – in the middle of my order! Not impressed. Won’t do business with ever.

146 amity t July 18, 2009 at 11:58 am

I couldnt get on last night so I tried again this morning and got through on the apothica site. I was able to order some lavendar and pine cleaning solution and I was also able to get it to use the GC for the shipping – so out of pocket I only spent $2. Not bad for a $15 item.

Thanks Crystal – you are inspirational!

amity

147 mariah July 18, 2009 at 12:15 pm

Now they have stopped the giving out the gift certificates. I emailed mine last night but didn’t try to get the code until now and I got this message: “Due to overwhelming demand…
We have temporarily suspended our Refer a Friend $20 promotion. All existing gift certificates will be honored.” So I missed it :(

148 Elizabeth July 18, 2009 at 1:27 pm

Just went to the site, and they’ve posted that they’ve suspended the gift card offer.

149 Elle Crawford July 18, 2009 at 1:31 pm

I never even got the e-gift card/certificate.

150 Brenda July 18, 2009 at 1:52 pm

I could not get through much last night. I did get the first email. Finally gave up, then today the website says the offer is not longer available. They are offering 20% off and that is it.

151 Emma K July 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm

I started the process last night but because it was so slow I waited till today to order. I had already received the gift card number so I ordered $11 nail polish and it covered the shipping as well.

152 Sara July 18, 2009 at 3:03 pm

I tried and tried last night and gave up b/c the site was so SLOW and kept crashing. But this morning I got right in and ordered a cute little Peony candle and paid about $1.95 for it (I believe it was $15 + $6.95 shipping). Thanks!!

153 Darlene July 18, 2009 at 4:11 pm

Thanks so much for this post, but I also had major problems last night — slow loading, etc. and the gift number would not work — no checkmark.

I tried again today and no luck even after changing the item to purchase. I have left a message for customer service since they are now closed and will be back Monday.

154 Stephanie July 18, 2009 at 4:39 pm

They now cancelled the deal. Poohy :(

155 jenny July 18, 2009 at 5:05 pm

The gift card is working for shipping, but they have raised the cost of shipping. It was $5.95 and now it is $7.95.

156 Robin July 18, 2009 at 5:13 pm

I had trouble yesterday BUT after reading your update, went in to try it again and it worked FAST! They HAD raised the prices BUT the 2 items that I had put in my cart yesterday were STILL THERE and at the lower price! They only problem was that they had also raised the shipping by $1 to 6.95 instead of $5.95 so this brought my total to over $20. It was $20.90 so since I was paying by Paypal I let it go through as a .90 charge. Still an AWESOME deal and ALMOST FREE! :) Thank you SO much!

157 MommyMel July 18, 2009 at 5:40 pm

Don’t forget to use Ebates for 10% back! I went through Ebates for the 10%, using Skin Botanica. It’s kind of tricky going through Pay Pal. It wouldn’t take the gift certificate so I continued along and at the last page just before finalize, I was able to apply the certificate at the top of the page. It did ask if I wanted to apply the certificate towards shipping and just like that, 0 cost to me and I’ve got a fabulous lotion as a Christmas gift for someone!

158 Andrea July 18, 2009 at 7:02 pm

I ordered two of the bath soaps and had no problems at all ordering. This was before they raised their prices on anything!! I’m glad now I did it right away.

159 anne July 18, 2009 at 7:06 pm

I just checked it out and they have suspended the gift cert offer..bummer too late!!

160 Melanie July 18, 2009 at 8:23 pm

I ordered some yummy lavender pine lotion for $12.50 and it applied that and the shipping charges to the gift card! The site was incredibly slow, but it did work!

161 elaine July 18, 2009 at 9:14 pm

I just placed an order for a $15 organic body scrub and the transaction took less than 5 minutes. I ended up paying $1.95 but that is an awesome deal!! THANKS

162 Catherine July 18, 2009 at 10:44 pm

I just ordered but they have stopped the promotion so anyone that already wrote down their gift card number is fine and they will honor it but if you haven’t already received your gift card number, you will only receive a code for 20% off your total purchase.

163 Jannel July 19, 2009 at 9:43 am

I was away for a couple of days, so wasn’t able to access a computer. Just tried to get the $20 g.c. and they are no longer running the refer a friend promo. Wish I could have gotten this!! Oh well!!

164 Kim Campbell July 19, 2009 at 10:18 am

It’s now been suspended. Bummer! But there is still a 20% off for referring a friend I think?

165 maggie July 19, 2009 at 3:33 pm

they have closed this website… I quess to many takers but oh well next time…maggie

166 RunToFinish July 20, 2009 at 10:29 am

I have the gift code, but for the life of me can’t get it to work. I work in ecommerce and would never recommend this site

167 tevilqueen July 22, 2009 at 12:53 pm

Got my order today!! what quick service. I got The Blam voyage luxury travel makeup set which is uber cute with 3 little lip products inside this really cute magnitized box! I opened up the box to take a look but the mirror is shattered. I called them up and they are sending me another one right away!! I also got a sample in the box of Decleor tonifyiing lotion. With shipping and all I paid $1.60! This will make a great gift for my daughter for her bday! thanks for this great almost freebie!

168 Lisa July 22, 2009 at 2:34 pm

I emailed the company regarding not getting my 2nd email with the code for the free $20 e-gift card. I told them that I had tried all day and that I had not received it. They asked me to email the first email I received from them. Today I finally got the email with my free $20 e-gift card code and used it to get a Kathleen Lewis lip balm. It covered the cost of the product and shipping. Can’t wait to get this in the mail! Thanks for sharing this great deal and I’m glad I was still able to get in on their products!

169 Tina July 22, 2009 at 6:28 pm

Got my shampoo today ~ so quick! Thanks Crystal :)
