I love your website! Truly a great resource for me as I started clipping coupons recently! Thanks for making the information accessible to us!

Dawn June 13, 2009 at 11:55 pm

So I am new to the idea of couponing and really looking for ways to reduce our budget. I love your site and read Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover because of you and loved it. We no longer have a car payment nor any credit card debt. Yeah! Anyway, I live in a small town. We have a locally owned grocery store and a very small Walmart Supercenter. There is no drugstores like Walgreens and such, no Safeway or Krogers, etc. So I don’t really know how to start. Neither store doubles coupons and although Walmart has low prices, it doesn’t necessarily have a lot of sales. So I was hoping you could give some suggestions. Thanks!

Audrey June 14, 2009 at 12:55 am

Will the Dry on Roll coupon you recommended work as a deoderant?

Dave June 14, 2009 at 8:45 am

I have a bunch of 5/10 SS inserts – but can’t seem to find the St. Ives coupon. Any ideas?

Cindy June 14, 2009 at 9:54 am

John Freida deal
3 for $15.00- Use 3 of the $3.00 off Root Awakening (I live in Wisconsin) so each would be 2.00 and get a register reward for $5.00!! Works out that you pay 1.00 for 3 bottles of shampoo or ocnditioner!!! Great deal to me as I love John Freida!

Jenae June 14, 2009 at 1:37 pm

Just so you know, the Ragu coupons print out in Spanish. :)

Kim S June 14, 2009 at 1:44 pm

On the Cakester deal you also have to buy a gallon of milk to get the RR.

Lauren June 14, 2009 at 2:51 pm

Where are the monthly register rewards posted?

Erin June 14, 2009 at 3:37 pm

My Walgreens would not let me use 2 coupons for the bogo schick razors, so I just didn’t get them this time. Has anyone else had this problem? I wonder if I should try it at another store, the are 3 others in my area.

Margery June 14, 2009 at 4:05 pm

My Walgreens was already sold out of the St. Ives Body Wash, even on Sunday afternoon. They won’t give a raincheck for RR items. So very disappointing.

Lee June 14, 2009 at 5:07 pm

Is the cakester deal area specific? I went to get them today and my store still had them for $3.50 each. They also did not have a $3 register reward offered with it.

Jenae June 14, 2009 at 5:40 pm

Also, I couldn’t find the coupon in the Redplum insert. I also looked on the database on couponmom.com and she says that there was a 4/5 Unilever coupon for $0.40. Maybe you have different coupons? I live in Wichita, so I thought they would be similar.

Sharon June 14, 2009 at 9:16 pm

How do you know about the monthlys? I don’t find them advertised anywhere. I am concerned about trying them & not having them work. Where does Walgreens advertise them?

Leah June 14, 2009 at 11:10 pm

Does anyone know if there is a coupon limit per transaction at Walgreens?

I tried to buy 8 RAGU and 4 Dry Idea, and I used 4 $1/2 RAGU and 4 $1 Dry Idea + the in ad coupon. Then I tried to use 4 $1 RR, and it wouldn’t take it.

Alea June 14, 2009 at 11:28 pm

Sorry, I accidentally posted my Super Saving Saturday post here.

Shannon June 15, 2009 at 12:49 am

Just a small correction. You have the unilever deal as paying $12 oop with a 10 rr. It should be 8 rr, right?

Becky June 15, 2009 at 7:45 am

The cakesters were marked at $3.50 at my store but rang up 2/$5 (have to buy 2). I bought milk to get the RRs. Still a good deal.

Alicia June 15, 2009 at 8:05 am

FYI the Hefty one zip storage bags are cheaper at Publix. They are $1.79 each (everyday) and they also have a 20 cent coupon on the box with coupon they end up being just $.59. I almost went for the Walgreens deal myself but I’m glad I crunched the #’s.

Megan June 15, 2009 at 8:24 am

Margery, if your WAGS is nearby you might check back on Wed or Thur as that’s when they typically re-stock. For a MM it might be worth it. I hope my WAGS still has some bodywash left for me too :)

julie June 15, 2009 at 8:51 am

Sharon, I had to make sure the cashier took the Wal. Dry Idea coupon off after scanning the Dry Idea mfg. co. to get the transaction to go through.

I don’t do a lot of the RR rewards deals because I have had so many problems with them at my Walgreens, but I think I remember the fine print on the RR stating only 1 RR reward per transaction is allowed and the number of coupons cannot exceed the number of items in the order. You may need to break you order into smaller transactions and/or add something small to your
order(s) to get them to go through

Jessica June 15, 2009 at 9:24 am

I did not have to buy the milk on the cakester deal 2/$5 get a $3 RR. I did get the RR. Also, I had no problem using two coupons on the razors and on the cartridges. I did have problems using a RR on the Ragu deal. Not sure why as I thought I had Walgreens and their many complicated rules figured out! It wound up being good that it didn’t take it though. I didn’t realize that Ragu was a Unilever product and tried to use my Dove RR on it.

Diane June 15, 2009 at 9:47 am

Sharon – just to expand on Julie’s response. She is correct that you should hand the Dry Idea Mfg coupon before the store coupon though I think the problem came in that the fine print on the RR.

First, to clarify Julie’s comment. It does not say you can use only one per transaction, though I will admit some stores misinterpret the RR and will try to limit you to using only one per transaction. If this happens you might consider calling district or corporate and ask if they could clarify it for your store.

What it actually is trying to say with the one per transaction comment, is that you can ONLY EARN ONE RR for any given promo per transaction. In other words you can’t buy (2) St. Ives and get (2) RR’s in one transaction but you could buy (1) St. Ives plus the Unilever or Dove items and receive (2) RR’s one for each promo.

The stickler on the RR’s and what it sounds like tripped your order up is that you can not use more mfg coupons than items you are purchasing and RR’s are considered mfg coupons. So if you purchased 4 items and had 4 mfg coupons as well as one or more RR’s you would need to purchase one additional cheap “filler” items for each RR you want to use in order for them not to beep.

Sometimes you can find some great clearanced items for 25-cents and up. My stand-by is the 33-cent caramels found in a pail near the register at nearly all stores. I save them up in a airtight ziplock to make caramel apples at Halloween. I also recently found some scented hand sanitizers on clearance for 75-cents a bit pricey for a normal filler but a great item for me to set aside as a future gift basket item to my sons teachers for the holidays.

Kim S June 15, 2009 at 10:18 am

Julie was there a sign that said you had to buy the milk? I guess I will just try it and see what happens. Thanks! Kim

Walgreens brand diapers are on sale b1g1 50% off. They’re supposed to be 2/$14, but rang up for me at 2/$12. So I got the first for $6, then the second for $3.
$9 total for two jumbo packs makes out to be $4.50/pack! Not bad if you’re in need of diapers!

Last time they were on a b1g1 sale, they rang up at 2/$12 also. I’m wondering if they always ring up even cheaper than labeled when they’re on a b1g1 sale? It sure is a nice extra blessing! I live in austin,tx.

GInger June 15, 2009 at 11:18 am

My walgreens has reach toothbrushes on sale for 99 cents. It also has reach floss on sale for 99. I used the the buy 2/$1.50 coupon and got them both for .25 each. Today I am going back to use the coupon that came in the inserts yesterday. It’s for reach. 1/$1 for a toothbrush. Yeah for sales! Ginger gsnap1979@hotmail.com

Little Becomes Much June 15, 2009 at 1:39 pm

Walgreens has the Reach Toothbrush and Reach Dental floss for $0.99. I used the coupons from the 6/14SS as well as the ones on coupons.com!

catherine June 15, 2009 at 2:25 pm

The add says 2-3 oz deoderant……if you look at the roll on – it’s 3.25 oz and therefore does not qualify for the 99 cent deal right?

Jenn June 15, 2009 at 6:01 pm

Leah,

I did the Unilever deal today and had the same problem. At Walgreens, you cannot have more coupons (including Register Rewards) than you do items, but it doesn’t look like you did (and I know I didn’t). They fixed it for me today by removing all the coupons and starting over, this time doing the RR first, and then rescanning the coupons. Next time ask them to scan your Register Rewards first. Hope that helps!

Tami June 15, 2009 at 6:16 pm

I don’t think our Walgreen’s is offering monthly RR anymore. They did discontinue the Easy Saver and the stuff that is listed here is no where to be found in our store for Monthly deals. Boo Hoo! I wanted those Cakesters.

beth June 15, 2009 at 8:19 pm

someone posted about the walgreens diapers…just so you know…at walgreens, anytime you purchase two diaper items(any brand) they take off 2 dollars. so even two huggies will be 2 dollars less total(not each)…thats why!

oh, and the .99 dry idea in the walgreens DOES NOT include the roll on, so no profit there! it includes 2-3oz, roll on is 3.25oz

AbundantFoodSavings June 16, 2009 at 1:45 pm

St. Ives money maker and Free cakesters

Maya Andrews June 16, 2009 at 4:12 pm

where are the Cakesters and Johnson Baby powder advertised?
I made my list from a couple blogs and then at th store I didn’t see any signs and the weren’t in the fluer as far as I can tell.
What size cakester, is a regular box or 2-pack? and is the small size baby powder supposed to ring up a $1? Mine rang up $1.99 and did print $1 RR (but not worth it to me at $1)

Heather June 16, 2009 at 7:32 pm

I went to my Walgreens in search of the Dove 2-packs, but mine were a whopping $4.19 a piece! Good grief! But, since I had (4) of the Dove $1 off any face care product, I figured I could still use them on the single bars, which were on sale for 99c a piece (reg. $1.69)! So, I got four free bars of Dove soap (which is usually WAY out of my price point for soap, that I never even consider buying it!) They were NOT marked as sales on the shelf, so it was pretty great to find out at the register that I had gotten them for free! For what it’s worth, they are the plain white Dove bars, 3.15 oz. Hope this helps someone!

Sarah Milbrandt June 16, 2009 at 8:29 pm

Ok I just got back from my Walgreens and I tried to get the
Buy 1 Schick Quattro Razor For Men–on sale Buy One, Get One Free (prices start at $9.49)
Buy 2 and use 2 $4/1 coupons from 6/14 SmartSource insert
$0.75 each after coupons
and they told me that I wasn’t allowed to use 2 coupons, because I was technically only buying 1 razor. I was a little upset and I walked out with out them… I’m still a little bummed! :(

lb. June 17, 2009 at 2:34 am

you’re not supposed to scan the register rewards first.

lb. June 17, 2009 at 2:37 am

also, yes. technically you’re only buying 1 razor since the other one is free. so why should you be able to use 2 coupons? you’re only buying ONE product, because the other one is free. you’d be using two manufactor coupons on ONE product. so you’d be saving 8 bucks on one, which isn’t allowed. you’re still saving a ton of money, by purchasing two and still using one $4 coupon, better than walmart.

DallasMom June 17, 2009 at 4:15 pm

I visited 3 WAGs between last night and this morning and none of them had the Cakesters or the Razors in stock, bummer will try tomorrow now that some one mentioned they restock on Wed or Thrus. Also the razor deal using 1/$4 still gets you TWO $3 razors – great deal! Thanks for this post, it’s very much appreciated!

Jenny Smith June 20, 2009 at 9:29 pm

Where can you find the monthly register rewards?? I asked and they said they don’t have those. Do they have different sales at different places.
