I love eBay. I have bought everything from shoes to baby formula to coupons to electronics on there. It’s easy to get started with selling too. For working about 1-2 hours a day, you can earn a nice little side income selling off your unused stuff (or friends’ stuff for them). :)

Does anyone know if you use Auctiva to submit your item if it will still be a free listing? I really like the look of using auctiva.

Thanks for letting us know! I think I’ll start selling on ebay!

No, it will not be free if you use Auctiva. You must list directly from eBay. And starting July 1, Auctiva will be charging to list. And it’s not just for this month, but the first five you list every 30 days. The final value fees taken out may end up being higher, but it’s worth it to list stuff you wouldn’t otherwise list because you don’t know if it will get any bids.

This was a nice surprise yesterday I didn’t know about it and was just doing my 3 items a day listing and when they were free I kept going and going but then I figured out it was just 5 still I will gladly take the freebie

Be careful, this offer isn’t as “free” as you would think.

Key is the straight 8.75% final value fee with this offer (versus 8.75% for first $25 then lower dependent on the final selling price) and the benefit is only for very low dollar sales (I think somewhere under $50) and fairly high dollar sales (again I think around $500).

Do the math based on your expectations and calculate the final value fee with the “free” listing and the final value fee plus normal listing fee before you go to list.

Not sure it’s an option, probably your first 5 listing in 30 days will automatically be “free”. If that’s the case then just list your highest/lowest expected items.

I was going to pop back to the site for my now infrequent sales there but not falling for this one.

Plus the percentage of true auctions on Ebay is incredibly low and I can sell retail for free on a number of busy sites. This appears to be the goal of Ebay so more power to them but I need an auction venue.

Yes, can we talk about alternatives to eBay, please?? They’re so expensive now that I don’t even bother selling on them anymore. I need some new ideas.
