CVS would not honor the $5 ECB coupon I took in. Said it was bogus

JJ June 7, 2009 at 7:58 pm

I just bought the Pampers diapers here in SoCal. They were not ringing up correctly, but I had brought a print out of the online advertisement so they manually adjusted the price to 8.99, accepted my 1.00 manufacturer coupon and then manually printed me a 5.00 ECB. Diapers for 2.99!!!!
I have a question about CVS-ing, though:
CVS is running a bunch of “Buy 20 dollars of X and get 10 ECBs” type deals (Candy/Dove). I don’t fully get those deals. Does the total product have to equal $20 (even after manufacturer coupons) to get the ECBS? CVS is running a Dove deal right now and I have plenty of manufacturer coupons on Dove, but does that mean that I can just get more stuff for the $20 or can I get my real cost under $20 but still get the ECBS?

Any idea of a limit for the pamper’s deal? It doesn’t say.

LC June 7, 2009 at 8:10 pm

Has anyone got the Pamper deal with the 5 ECB?

Lana June 7, 2009 at 8:20 pm

They wouldn’t honor the diaper deal for me. :( The manager was actually really nice about it saying he wished he could manually print the ECB’s for me, but he hadn’t heard anything about the deal and when I showed him the printed page from the website he even went to his computer and looked it up himself. But he said there was no way to even push it through manually because he couldn’t find an “event code” anywhere on the website to put in to tell the machine/computer to spit it out. On the website there was a number to call with questions, but when he called it, of course they were closed since it was a Sunday. The manager told me to go ahead and do the deal today (since I had a $/$$ that expired today that I wanted to use) and he would look into it and see if there is a way to do it. He told me to come back later in the week and ask for him. I can either return the whole transaction or if I have my receipt and he finds out it does work, he will print me my ECB’s manually. So, anyway, he was nice about it, but I was pretty disappointed. Anyone else having troubles?

Kirsten June 7, 2009 at 9:03 pm

Do you know what the limit is on how many times you can get the $5 ECB on pampers?

Steph June 7, 2009 at 9:16 pm

SO, my local CVS said I could only get one $5 ECB for 3 packages of Pampers. Anyone else have this issue? I think I am going to go back and ask again. I did print the online ad and I am glad I did because they did not even initially give me the $5 ECB. I had to show them my printout and ask for it.

momtaylor June 7, 2009 at 9:30 pm

1:
2 Pampers
2 Fusion (forgot about the 1 limit)
Used 5/30, 2 ($2) Pampers, 2 ($4) Fusion and 17.98 ECB.
2:
1 Pampers
2 Palmolive
Used 10 ECB, 2 (.50) Palmolive.

Total for all .90!

jenny June 7, 2009 at 9:38 pm

The pampers ECB’s were not printing at my store and the cashiers had not heard of online deal. Out of luck for now. Also, the Banana Boat sunscreens were a few dollars more…the only item that is $7.19 is after sun aloe vera.

Emily DeCosta June 7, 2009 at 9:41 pm

I just bought the diapers, but there was no sign and no ad saying that you can get $5.00 ECB. I printed out the paper from the CVS website that gave the information, but the cashiers said they couldn’t do anything to give me the ECBs because there was no number or bar code even on the website ad. So I guess I’ll be calling customer service sometime soon to see if I can get my $5 ECBs.

kim June 7, 2009 at 9:46 pm

if you want to do the pampers deal you might want to print off that website and take it with you. my cvs did not have it programmed in the computer, so it didnt work. i had to go home, print off the website and bring it back… not a huge deal, especially with that good of a deal, but maybe i can save someone else a trip!

Shelly June 8, 2009 at 7:39 am

My CVS trip: $60 worth of products for $4 and $13 ECB’s back. Love your blog!

jessica June 8, 2009 at 7:58 am

I just called customer service and they said they know there is a problem with the promotion and they will send it to be fixed and generate the EBs with my card.

Susan June 8, 2009 at 8:30 am

I printed out the CVS page earlier today. I just checked the link again, and the “& Get 5 Extra Bucks” part is now GONE. I guess I should have gone to the store yesterday!

Maggie June 8, 2009 at 8:50 am

Catherine – You actually CAN return something after using a coupon. I thought this too until I was returning the wrong size diapers at Walmart once when we were between sizes. The customer service manager assured me that they receive the full value of the coupon plus some (.08 I think), and point of the coupon was that the manufacturer wanted me to try out their product….and that’s what I did by buying it. They actually should refund the full value of the item (if they do not for some reason—you need to ask for your coupon back).

Hope that helps.

Karen June 8, 2009 at 9:36 am

I couldn’t find it on the website any longer so it must be gone.

Katelyn June 8, 2009 at 10:08 am

They just took the ad off the website link. :( So I don’t think it was really meant to be, or just some miscommunication

Shannon June 8, 2009 at 10:59 am

They must have corrected the glitch because the online ad page now has no mention of ECBs at all. Just the sale price.

Donna Dixon June 8, 2009 at 1:52 pm

CVS has changed the ad online, it no longer mentions the ECB’s.

Heather June 8, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Hello All, I saw the pampers link here last night and printed it and had my coupons ready to go this morning. When I got to CVS only like 4 packages of diapers had the $8.99 sale tag on them, but when I scanned different types (swaddlers, baby dry, etc.) they did scan that they were on sale (the 10.99 packages, not the 17.99 ones). I picked out 3 since that was the assumed limit, paid, and looked at my receipt. The extra bucks did not print but the manager printed them for me, and asked to keep my printout of cvs.com to call and ask about. Then when I got home, the website had already been changed. So I am blessed to have gotten the deal and am sorry for those that didnt. Just wanted to post my experience…

Brittany June 8, 2009 at 10:11 pm

Hello all. I work at a CVS here in the small town of Marion, Oh. Lol. Anyways we recieved a email at the store from our dm that said as long as the customer brings in the printed page from the cvs site that we WILL honor it, and issue you your eb’s. It did say however they have pulled the ad from the site. Anyways hope this helps y’all. I will deff. be taking full advantage of this deal, gotta stock back up on those diaper my son is 4 months old and I havent had to buy a pack since he was born. So my stash is getting low. Take care, and hope this works for you all. =]

Julie June 9, 2009 at 12:18 pm

Can you explain what the RedPlum insert is? And where you get the inserts you talk about (P&G…I assume that is Proctor and Gamble).

Do you look through the Sunday paper for all your non-printable coupons?

I just received my CVS card in the mail and all the northern California Longs Drugs stores are changing to CVS so I really want to start taking advantage of these deals. But I don’t know where you are finding all these non-printable coupons.

Thanks!

Donna June 10, 2009 at 1:46 pm

I just came from 2 CVS stores. I had printed the Pampers deal from the site and was able to get 6 packs for $3.99 each. Not a bad deal all around. I think that as long as you ask and are nice about it they should printed for you.
