Townhall

When just about every media outlet and
talking head out there would have you think our world is coming to an
end, Dave Ramsey is here to sound a message of hope–something we could all use a good dose of right now.

Tonight (April 23, 2009) at 8 PM EDT, Dave Ramsey will be hosting a free nationwide Town Hall for Hope:

Town Hall for Hope is your opportunity to sit
down with people in your community for a nationwide town hall
meeting led by Dave Ramsey. Thousands of venues across the
country will host the event, broadcasting Dave's live
presentation. In the opening half hour, Dave will offer straight
talk about the economy, recession, foreclosures and more.
He'll carefully explain where we've come from, where we are now,
and what we should be doing with our money during this time.
Then, Dave will spend an hour answering your questions
live!

Go here to see what venues in your area are hosting this event.

Will you be attending? I hope so!

I am so disappointed because my head cold (yes, the same one I had most of last week!) has gotten worse instead of better this week and morphed into the most awful sinus infection I've ever had, so I'm not going to be able to go tonight unless I have some miraculous recovery in the next few hours. However, my hubby is going and I'm hopeful he'll be able to take it all in so he can come home and tell me all about it!

I've been searching high and low to find a webcast of it, but so far I've been unsuccessful. Anyone know if there is going to be a live webcast available online for this event?

It’s also going to be broadcast on the Fox Business channel.

Erin April 23, 2009 at 11:46 am

I think I saw the answer on their FAQ section, but it said they won’t have a webcast of it :( I would love to be able to see it! But hubby it out of town this week for work.

Susan April 23, 2009 at 11:46 am

I think that webcasts are limited to the “hosts”. You could try signing up to be a host location.

Erin April 23, 2009 at 11:48 am

oh Cool, just turned on Fox news and they are interviewing some people about Town Hall for Hope. Glad to see it getting coverage!

Michele April 23, 2009 at 11:50 am

No, there’s no online webcast. If you read the FAQ on his site, that’s what it said.

Mari April 23, 2009 at 11:53 am

My mother in law just informed me that she saw a commercial that it will broadcasted on Fox Business network at 7pm cst. We don’t get that but we will be heading to her house with the little one to watch.

The one time I wish we had cable. :( Oh well! Maybe there will be a replay of it on Hulu or somewhere else after it is over.

Thanks for the help!

Stefanie April 23, 2009 at 12:11 pm

It is supposed to be broadcast on the Fox Business News Channel at 8pm EDT tonight. I hope you have cable/satellite and have access to that channel. This is the regular channel and time slot for “The Dave Ramsey Show.”

You can listen on this free streaming radio here tonight:

This is what I plan on doing since hubby and I don’t have a babysitter.

Davonne April 23, 2009 at 12:21 pm

Fox business! I don’t know if there’s a minimum amount of people if you host it, but you may want to look into that – then you and hubby can watch together at home :-)

We’re going tonight!

Michelle April 23, 2009 at 12:27 pm

I also cannot attend due to little ones at home and the closest church host was too far away. My husband & I checked the list of radio stations (see Dave’s website) that are airing this tonight & we found one nearby. So it won’t be as good as watching, but we plan on making some popcorn & hanging out on the couch to listen-like a “date night at home”.

Jessica April 23, 2009 at 12:47 pm

Crystal, I heard yesterday that our local AM radio station that normally runs Dave Ramsey will also run the event live! We aren’t able to physically attend either because no sitter for our little ones, but I sure plan to tune into the radio!!

Mara April 23, 2009 at 12:53 pm

The FAQ page on their site said “The Town Hall will not be available for home viewing on the internet.” I was hoping to find one too – the hubby’s working and taking 4 kids along doesn’t exactly sound like a good time, lol.

=)

There’s a list on the site of radio stations that will be broadcasting it, so you might see if there is one you can tune in and listen to at least.

Lorelei April 23, 2009 at 12:57 pm

I am listening in on one of my city’s radio stations as well – Freedom 95.9 (Indianapolis, IN area). Perhaps there’s one near you, Crystal!

I am so excited for this event! I’m streaming in for my local church. It looks like our turnout will be pretty good. It’s about time that we hear a message of hope instead of the continual gloom and doom.

Melissa April 23, 2009 at 1:49 pm

My husband works for Dave Ramsey, and here’s the scoop: You can watch a giant 3-hour coverage on Fox Business (not regular Fox network) from home, or some radio stations will have coverage, as well. There will be no webcast unless you are a host location, and to my knowledge, they are no longer accepting hosts. If you do not get Fox Business on your TV, see if a friend can record it for you.

Please pray for this amazing event tonight!!

Rhonda April 23, 2009 at 1:59 pm

We are very excited about being part of a “hosting” church for this event and have had a great response~so we are looking forward to a wonderful turnout:)

Susan April 23, 2009 at 2:00 pm

We are hosting this in our home tonight! My husband is the pastor of our small church, and we have our mid-week service in our home on Thursday nights. So tonight we’re hosting the Town Hall for Hope as our service!

We were not very familiar with Dave Ramsey until my husband started preparing for this event, but we are super excited about his plan for being debt-free – we’re gonna do it! We’re also hoping our church family will catch the excitement and join us. We have two college-age sons and a high-school daughter that we want to teach these principles to, so that they don’t have to go through everything we have financially. Neither of them has any college debt, praise the Lord, which is a good start. I just can’t say how excited I am! LOL

Deanna April 23, 2009 at 2:28 pm

klvv.com is a Christian radio station with an internet stream. They will be streaming Town Hall for Hope.

Lerin C. April 23, 2009 at 2:31 pm

Dave was on Good Morning America this morning and they said it would be online I think on Fox. You could always check their website maybe for more details.

Marla April 23, 2009 at 3:07 pm

For those saying they can’t go due to little ones, check with the venues. All of the host churches in our area have free on site childcare during the event. I’m sure other places do too.

Candace April 23, 2009 at 4:59 pm

Hey, just coming out of pregnancy last week I feel for you with the sinus infection. I suffered with a terrible one early on in my pregnancy, they wanted me to take steriods because basically my nose was swollen shut – I couldn’t taste or smell for weeks!

I discovered that if you take the odorless garlic pills that they really help with the infection! I took one in the morning and one at night – still do when needed. I am holding off right now though, not sure my little guy would like being introduced to garlic flavored milk yet. :)

Hope you feel better soon!
Candace

Oh – drink a couple of tsps. of lemon juice several times a day for congestion/ honey for coughs!

Lisa April 23, 2009 at 9:32 pm

Just got home from watching Dave’s Town hall meeting at our church here in DFW Texas. It was very enlightening with a bit of humor as with all Dave’s lectures! He is an inspiration to our family and I am glad we got to be a part of this experience.
Almost done with baby step 2!!!!!

Kelly April 23, 2009 at 10:07 pm

Hey Crystal…I hope you feel better. I’m almost 36 weeks pregnant and was just diagnosed with shingles today. Don’t you just LOVE the timing of things… :) I’ll be praying for you in the days ahead.
