There are some fun free events going on tomorrow (Saturday, April 4, 2009):
Between 9 a.m. and noon, The Home Depot is sponsoring a free clinic on "How to Make a Birdhouse" for children ages 5-12. Check out more details here.
Michael's is hosting a free event for children ages 5-12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to make their own 3D mini poster, finger puppets, and join in a treasure hunt. More details here.
And it's also the first Saturday of the month so that means you can get free admission at over 70 museums nationwide if you are a Bank of America cardholder. More details here.

It’s great to see publicity for free events. Free entertainment not only costs minimally, but it helps to promote family bonding at a time when the external stresses — most particularly the financial — are sky high. Furthermore, most do not think about it, but the taxes people already pay go towards the funding of public spaces and events, so one might as well use what they’ve already paid for. Now if only there was a free admission day at amusement parks, the kids would be set! Are there free museums on the West Coast that this is good for?
Lowe’s has a lot of those free clinics every couple weeks. Just check out your local store – it’s usually posted on the wall as you walk in.
With the bank of america museum thing, does it just get one person in free or your family in free? Thanks!
Has anybody taken advantage of this? Is it as simple as showing up and flashing your Bank of America card? It sounds like a great deal, but I’d hate to get there and have it not work. Also, does anybody know if my husband and I would both get in for free (we have two cards for the same account) or do they limit it to one free admission per account? (The website didn’t seem very in helpful providing details.)
Another FREE thing to do on Saturdays is Lakeshore Learning Store (not 100% sure where they all are, but there are lots around the country). EVERY Saturday from 11-3 they do a free craft with the kids – it’s the same craft around the entire country, so it’s well planned and they are great and creative. My recommendation – leave your cash and credit card at home, as it’s VERY easy to spend money at this store!
I have used the Bank of America card to get in free. When I went I was told it was one person per card and my husband had to show his card too.
I also saw an ad that if you open a Bank of America account you can get $50.
I took my kids to Home Depot to make the bird houses…We had a blast!!! Thanks for posting this. We are going to try and go every month.
Do you post this type of thing regularly, because I’m always looking for free things to do with my kids. Thanks for the info.
