Jewel-Osco: Free Post cereal

Jewel-Osco currently has Post cereals on sale 2 for $3. In addition, they are also running the Post catalina deal that Albertson's is (Buy 5 boxes of Post cereal, Get a $5 catalina coupon off your next shopping order. Good through April 19, 2009.)

Combining these two deals with coupons can net you free Post cereal this week. Here's how:

Buy five boxes of Post cereal
Use two $1/2 coupons from the 3/29 SmartSource insert
Use one $0.55/1 coupon from the 3/1 insert (or, use 5 $0.55/1 coupons–if you have that many)
Pay $4.95 out of pocket
Get a $5 catalina back

If you have more coupons, you can repeat this deal and use the catalina you earned on your last order to pay for your next order making your out-of-pocket expense $0. Stock up!

And even if you don't have a lot of coupons, the cereal would still be only $0.50/box for every five boxes you buy after the sale and catalina–which is a great deal!

Thanks, Mercedes!

Heres the Kellogs deal at Albertsons April 1- April 7.Get 3 boxes of cereal free when you buy 4 boxes for $14. Plus recieve a coupon at checkout for 3 gallons of Milk FREE. Plus there is a bonus coupon in the ad for a Free box of poptarts when you buy 4 boxes of cereal! This seems like a great deal! And if you are able to print the $1/1 raisen bran it will be an even better deal.

You would have to buy 6, as the sale price is 2/$3, and you must buy in two’s to get the sale price. So it would be:
    buy 6 = $9
    – three $1/2
    = $6
    – $5 CAT earned wyb 5 post cereals
    = $1/6 boxes.
Or if you are able to print the $2 Post trail mix coupon, you can save even more!

Money Saving Mom here: Is Jewel-Osco different than most stores in that you actually have to buy the specified amount to get the sale price? Most stores you do not, unless the sale flier specifically states that; it’s usually just a marketing gimmick. I would wager to guess you wouldn’t have to–especially if you buy five. But I’ve not shopped at Jewel-Osco, so can someone who shops there regularly let us know?

I am a Jewel Shopper. Normally, a price of 2/$6 means each rings up at $3. However, sometimes they have instant deductions when you buy a certain number of items.

So some varieties of cereal are specifically 2/$3 WYB 2. (they ring $2.50 and $2 comes off instantly with each 2)

So in this case you do have to buy them in pairs of 2, so buy 6 boxes = $9. Then use any coupons, and get the $5 catalina.

You might want to fix the original post so that people buy 6 boxes to get the 2/$3 price, not 5.

    Check out!

I have also heard that you cannot repeat this deal (the $2/3 part). It apparently is only good once per preferred card at Jewel.

  5. Kate says

I did the Jewel deal yesterday. For this particular deal, you have to buy in 2s… every 2 boxes, it took off another $2. ($2 savings from Post) I bought 6 boxes and MADE money, because I had 2 $1/2 Qs, plus a $1.50 and a $2.00 Catalina for Post cereals!

  6. Anna in IL says

Rumor on the coupon blogs here in Chicago-land is that you can only get the 2/$3 price once per preferred card. If you make another trip to buy cereal, it will ring at the 2/$5 price (which is how the shelves are marked.)
