Free-plus-overage Huggies wipes!

by crystal on March 12, 2009

We were gone most of the afternoon and evening doing our weekly grocery run and having a prenatal appointment (seems like I spend more and more time at the birth center these days–I guess that's a good thing seeing as it means we're getting closer to this baby's arrival!).

We scored some great deals at Dillons and ending up spending $19 and saving $86!  I'll post pictures and a full run-down of our shopping trip for Super Savings Saturday but I had to quickly take a minute to tell you about the best deal I happened upon:

005

See those wipes? Notice the words "Gentle Care" on them? Remember the coupons for $5/1 any Huggies Gentle Care product we all printed last week?

Yes, you guessed it! I was able to use the $5/1 Gentle Care coupons on these wipes which were on sale for $2.50 each at Dillons this week. So I not only got the wipes for free but I made $2.50 for each package I bought.

I currently am well-stocked on diapers, so I was planning to use the $5/1 coupons at Target to get the large packs of wipes for $0.99 each. But I'll gladly take free-plus-overage wipes instead! I used the overage earned on these to cover some of the costs of milk, cheese, and other groceries we purchased today–which makes deals like this even sweeter!

If you haven't used your $5/1 Huggies Gentle Care coupons yet and are in need of wipes, I'd definitely recommend checking to see if your store has the Gentle Care wipes pictured above for less than $5. (Please do note, though, that the new $5/1 Huggies Gentle Care coupons you can print here are only good on diaper products.)

I purchased the large refill packs at target with my coupons. I tried to buy the smaller package (i am a newbie at coupon-ing- i thought target did overage?) and it didn’t work. had to buy the big ones. so i got huge packages for 99 cents each!

I have tried and tried to get the coupons when I’ve heard they are reloaded, but to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem? Sweet score on your money making freebie!

What a great deal! I haven’t been printing these up because I only use Huggies at night (the OverNites) and Luvs during the day. But I didn’t even catch that some of these were for “products”, not just diapers. YAY! Thanks for the tip. I’ll have to see what kind of deals I can find on these at the PX and Commissary.

Just as an FYU, I just used the rest of my coupons I printed this week (due to ALL Walgreens being out of wipes(( I’m totally stocked up on diapers..hehe)… at TARGET! They took them all for wipes. I used the $5/1 and $3/1 all for wipes. They didn’t even blink an eye. Awesome.. Thanks for your constant updates and money saving ideas! I’ve saved SO MUCH MONEY!! Love it!

My grocery store wouldnt let me use the overages. lame. I bought the 184 pack and the plastic box and spent 1.69… so thats not bad but I was looking for free!

Do you know if Kroger has a printed coupon policy? Off topic a bit but I did a run to Kroger tonight – picked up their new comfort brand wipes, but had problem with the Quaker rice snacks. Have two non-IP regular old manufacturer coupons for $1.25/1 and they would not take them because they were over the value of the item. After the mega savings event they came out to $.49 ea. I was a little upset because I did it all right. They would not even manually override it for the $.49. I know it isn’t much money, but I have had problems with this same cashier before.

This is AWESOME! My hubby and I prefer Huggies wipes for our babies and I never even thought to use the coupons for wipes rather than diapers, DUH! I’ve been following you for awhile, thanks so much for all of the greal deals and tips. :) Also, if you are into bloggy giveaways, I’m having one in honor of my 50th post. Come check it out!

I have a question regarding the Huggies cupons (or any others from the cupons.com website that you mention). Why is it that I can never find the cupon there that you are mentioning. I looked through all 9 pages of cupons and couldn’t find the above referenced cupons. Is it because of my zip code?

I bought two packs for a total of $4.78 yesterday at Target. Only .22 overage, but two free packs of wipes for my friend’s shower on Saturday. I got some good deals at Target if you wanna see what else I found.

10 jen March 13, 2009 at 5:45 am

i was going to try that at Target but i didnt feel like dealing with the hassle of it possibly not working, so i opted for the bigger package for 0.99. Maybe i’ll be brave and make some Moo-lah!

I printed this, did the back thingy and it worked for 2. Will see where I can use them because as a AD installer, I use these for my hands right after removing nasty cardboard/plastic cards each store. Thank you!!

I used the new $5.00/1 printables for refill wipe packages at two different stores (Kroger and Publix) and they scanned just fine. I think “diaper product” must cover the range of “diapering items” and, since I did not have any overage, it worked. Just a thought since it worked for me…

15 Rebecca March 13, 2009 at 7:34 am

I actually did this at Walgreens. I know the tubs of wipes don’t count for the deal, but I bought 3 packs of dipes and one tub of Sensitive Gentle Care wipes (I wanted to be sure it worked first!) and because I had more Huggies in my order, the $5 coupon was absorbed by them. So it will give overage, it seems, if you have more in the Huggies family. The wipes were $3.49 so not AS great a deal, but it was lovely to have help with the diaper costs since I needed size 4, and would only use the $3 Q’s for those! Thanks for all the deal info!!

16 Kate March 13, 2009 at 7:36 am

I’ve done this several times. I didn’t understand why none of the websites were reporting it :)

17 Amanda Atkinson March 13, 2009 at 7:42 am

I was able to use my coupons that state “diaper products” on the wipes at target. The register did not beep when the coupon was scanned, so apparently wipes are considered a diaper product. makes sense i guess, we do call them diaper wipes in my house. lol

I had a similar problem at Kroger. I’m in the Jackson, MS area. About 6 weeks ago, the Kroger I always shop at by my house refused to take more than 1 identical internet cpn. I asked the cashier when this started and he said during the holidays they had a big problem with photocopied internet cpns. I emailed corporate and got back a very snarky email that said it has ALWAYS been Kroger’s policy to only accept 1 of a coupon. I started shopping at a different Kroger (near my church and in a better part of town). The cashiers there took my multiple coupons (I scored 10 FREE packs of Cottonelle on one visit!!) However two weeks ago, I tried to use the $1.10/1 Progresso cpn and the cashier refused to take it. He said they don’t take any internet coupons over a $1.00 value. I don’t think Kroger has a written cpn policy and if they do, it’s not followed across the board. It seems like they are cracking down and changing the rules daily. I think this will backfire on them in the end b/c internet cpns are getting more and more popular. As I told my husband, “With newspapers folding left and right, in a few years the only cpns available might be those off the internet”.

19 Nora Carroll March 13, 2009 at 8:08 am

Tried the Coupon with Diaper Product printed on it and the cashier wouldn’t except it. I use similiar coupons a couple of days ago and I did get the overage.

20 Lana March 13, 2009 at 8:18 am

My Target wouldn’t take the $5/1 on the wipes. I even offered to get 2 for each coupon and that didn’t work either. Haven’t been able to use them since I can’t find the ‘gentle care’ products in my area. Oh well-I think I will just mail them to my daughter in law and let her see if she can use them in the area where they live.

21 Tracy March 13, 2009 at 8:46 am

That deal worked at Target for me.

22 Liz March 13, 2009 at 9:08 am

i have used my coupons at walgreens for that sweet deal this week, and my little one is out of Gentle Care, and it STILL ACCEPTED MY COUPON! even though it WAS NOT GENTLE CARE! WHOO HOO for me :)

23 sara m. March 13, 2009 at 1:29 pm

FYI: “Diaper products” include wipes. Actually, Huggies Bath and Body coupons are also usable on wipes – you use them on the baby’s body, right? I have heard from store managers that this is acceptable.

24 Erica M March 13, 2009 at 2:04 pm

Our walgreens wouldn’t accept the $5/off coupon for the smaller package of wipes, only the large ones. Yes, they took the coupon, but they wouldn’t spit out the $10RR because it wasn’t the size listed in the ad…

I got diapers instead!

25 Lorie March 13, 2009 at 2:05 pm

I think it depends on what store you go to. I was able to use one of the $5 coupons on a pack of 184ct. wipes at Walgreens last night. I’m planning to try it again tonight. I ended up making $.60 from my transactions last night. Woohoo!

26 Michelle March 13, 2009 at 2:25 pm

Regarding Kroger’s coupon policy – I was given trouble when I tried to use the $3 off Kroger brand diaper coupon. She insisted they don’t take internet coupons for over $1 – even though it was a Kroger coupon!!! I e-mailed corporate, and was called by the store manager. As of Jan 1 they DO accept internet coupons for over $1, but not all staff may be aware of the policy yet. As a “thank you and come again” gift, they are sending me a $5 coupon. I hope the cashier accepts it!!

27 Amy W March 13, 2009 at 2:55 pm

My Kroger does not allow overage. I am not even going to try it!
Sometimes the $3/3 will work on the 99c buddies but it is because they just force it through. sometimes the cashier tries to give it back to me and I tell them to override it for $2.97 :)
I think overage should be allowed EVERYWHERE. The store is getting reimbursed face value by the manu.
ugh!

28 Lady Di March 13, 2009 at 3:06 pm

I made out like a Target bandit today. I had a young male cashier who was very bored looking when I went up to him. I had 2 tubs of wipes @ $2.39 each, 2 1/2 gallons of Turkey Hill Green Tea @ 2/$3 (sale), 4pk Dannon Activia @ $2 (sale), 2 Dove Body washes @ .49 each (marked down) & 3pk Puffs Plus @ $4.49. I handed him $5/1 Huggies, he asked for the other one – it took as well, then had $1/1 off Activia and I had 2 $1/1 Turkey Hill coupons. OOP $2.87 after tax. Savings $15.54. WOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! THANK YOU MSM!

PS – speaking of Turkey Hill, you can get over $10 in coupons just by emailing them via the site. Rave a product or complain you can’t find something of theirs. I rec’d coupons in my mail with in a week. PLUS, mention “you heard” they have l(insert a nice word) calendars. Inside there’s about $6-8 worth of coupons ranging from .50 to 1.00 on various products just like the ones they mail to you. Hope it works.

29 Kim March 13, 2009 at 8:38 pm

I am from Michigan and went ot our local Toy’s R us and they Huggies wipes on sale for 2/$5 so I bought 4 tubs and used both of my coupons and paid 60 cents out of pocket!!!

30 Maureen March 13, 2009 at 8:51 pm

My Target would not do overage. The coupon went through, but the cashier noticed the overage and took the coupon off my order. Too bad!

31 Carrie March 13, 2009 at 10:21 pm

I went to Walmart with my coupons. I accidently handed the cashier the $5 coupon for my Natural Care diapers, instead of the $3 one, and it just went through – no beeps or anything. I tried to give her the $3 one instead, and she said “No, this worked just fine!”. I used the $3 coupons on tubs of baby wipes from Walmart – they weren’t even Natural Care — I can’t remember the exact name, but no beeps then either! They were $2.57, so there was an overage there. I have 2 more I am going to try tomorrow. Crossing my fingers!

32 Suzie March 13, 2009 at 11:09 pm

does anybody know if you can use the natural fit $3 coupons for any of the wipe products?

33 becomingfrugal March 13, 2009 at 11:36 pm

I was told once by a target cashier that they’ll take coupons on items that aren’t necessarily “exact” meaning if the coupon says for cherry scented only or whatever, they’d take it on the same brand but other scents. I haven’t tried this myself yet, so your mileage may vary, but thought I’d throw that out there. Maybe they accept the huggies coupons on any huggies?

34 Missy March 14, 2009 at 10:34 am

My Dillons wouldn’t let me get the overage but they did let me get the Wipes for free with the coupon. Target would go for it all wich suprises me I never have a problem there.

35 marisa March 14, 2009 at 10:52 am

At Target they accepted the coupons on the diaper wipes so maybe each store is different? I’d try Target.

36 Rachel March 14, 2009 at 2:55 pm

Thanks for the tip on the wipes. I am guessing that my local store won’t let me make money on the purchases, but here I was searching for this style of DIAPERS for my little guy. I think they don’t make them in his size. I never thought about looking for wipes! I don’t want those coups to go to waste!!

37 Crystal W March 15, 2009 at 12:28 pm

I used the original Huggies coupons(any product) and bought the changing pads. This gives you good overage to use on other things you buy at the same time, which in my case, was ink for the printer!

38 Gina March 15, 2009 at 8:37 pm

I didn’t notice that the $5 coupon was for Gentle Care products (which are only for newborn and size 1 diapers). I grabbed three jumbo packs of “regular old” Huggies. My Walgreen’s accepted the coupons without beeping or throwing flags or anything. It wasn’t until I went to get three more packs that I noticed (a) what the coupon said and (b) it didn’t matter because they were completely out of diapers and wipes anyway. I’m going to try for the $5/1 coup on wipes at Kroger on Wednesday night when I go to do my “kids-are-at-AWANA” shopping! ;)

39 Adrienne March 24, 2009 at 1:36 pm

I can’t find the coupon anymore…. can anyone help me?

40 Laura Godeaux March 24, 2009 at 2:36 pm
