Hi I also was skeptical about trying any other brand than enfamil. My son was also on the gentlease. At 3 1/2 months I tried the Wal-mart brand and the Target brand. I prefer the “Parents Choice” Gentle (Walmart brand). It is way cheaper. It is gentle but it does not make it quite as easy for my son to go to the bathroom so I give him one ounce of prune juice in his bottle with the formula one to two times a day, usually once it the morning and the last bottle at night. Since he is eating solids now too though I am going to try feeding him prunes so I do not have to put the juice in his bottle anymore. As far as gas goes though he has had no issues with the switch. My pediatrician said it was fine as long as the nutrition was all the same, which it is! I wish I would have switched earlier though it is great and much cheaper!
The BJ’s brand of formula is exactly the same as Enfamil. I used it with my 2nd son and he had no problems at all. It’s a bigger container and much cheaper.
My son was on Similac, to be honest Craigslist is what saved us, I would normally buy a can of formula for around $5.00 so it saved us tons of money but even if you didn’t feel comfortable buying formula from someone people in our area are all the time giving away there $5.00 off “checks” that similac sends out, so that’s a good alternative. I never had any problems using them even with someone else’s name on them. Also people on ebay sell there coupons/formula all the time so you could check there. I know some people don’t like paying for something that someone else got for free, but I figured it was still saving me a ton of money so why not?
Also with the store brands of formula it all depends on your child, but there all supposed to be very similar, they normally have something on the label comparing them to other leading brands.
Hi. I was reading the post on how to save money on formula. My Aunt had three children in which she breastfed and then was diagnosed with breast cancer. She beat it and decided she wanted more children, but because of everything she could not have children of her own anymore and adopted. She gave them both goats milk, which is cheaper than formula and is great for the baby’s digestive system. This is just an idea, but I know there are famers that sell the milk to mothers. I hope this helps.
Has anyone else had trouble with Quality Health? I’ve never received one of their “free” product giveaways. And there are tons of question screens to go through offering stuff I *don’t* want or personal questions I don’t want to answer.
I used Gentlease with my first and then switched to soy but with my second things were tighter so we’ve been using Walmart’s Soy formula and it’s been great. I don’t think BJ’s brand has soy as we’ve looked there b/c they are so much cheaper, but I’m not sure about the “gentle” formula. My dr. said Gentlease is just 1/2 regular and 1/2 soy, so I just went with soy since it was cheaper than the gentle version. Walmart brand has been great and there is one company that produces the majority of the store brands (can’t remember their name) but might be worth looking up then you can see which store sells it cheaper and get the same contents, especially if it’s a drug store that offers $5/$20 purchase from time to time or offers register rewards esp. since most store brands don’t offer coupons. You could transfer prescriptions and get the gift card coupons so you get money towards it that way too. Sorry for the run on!
Kroger’s gentle ease version is exactly like Enfamil and my 4 month old did okay on it. But she is now having to use Nutramigen which is super expensive as well. I wonder if anyone knows how to get this cheaper?? There is a website that you can order in bulk from that is cheaper than most places. The website address is bulkforcheap.com. I haven’t actually order from it yet so this is just a suggestion that might be worth considering. I don’t know for sure. Goodluck!
Hey i was wondering if anyone know if you can use the $3 huggies coupons on wipes or not. Thanks any help is much appreciated
Yes you can use the coupon on wipes as long as it says “product” and not diaper product. I have used one at walmart & one at target & Made a $1.50! I did make sure to get the gentle care wipes, not sure if it makes a difference or not though.
The Target brand “gentle” formula (purple container) was the same as Gentlease and was almost half the price. I was loyal to Gentlease for so long and very skeptically tried the target formula…. and it was just fine!
The target/walmart brand of the Enfamil Gentlease formula is exactly the same! I was hesitant to switch at first as well but I compared the two cans and found out it was the same ingredients! As fast as babies go through it I think it was worth saving the 10 dollars on it! Also at our Walmart here in Iowa they have the parents choice brand knocked down to $13 something, which is about $1.50 in savings!
