Wendy’s: Free Junior Frosty with any purchase for a year?

by crystal on February 12, 2009

Beverly emailed me yesterday:

To my surprise I went through the Wendy's drive-thru and when paying
they asked me if I would like to donate $1 to a cause and I would get
a key tag to get 1 free Junior Frosty with any purchase for the rest of
the year. I gladly donated $1 and they gave me a key tag for use in
the Richmond, VA area that expires 12/31/09. -Beverly

Has anyone else heard of this offer or been offered this at their Wendy's? I'd love to know if this is a nationwide promotion because a Wendy's frosty sounds really, really good to me right now!

I would die. I love Frosties. Now I am torn by the appealing possibility of combining charity and gluttony.

2 Tanya February 12, 2009 at 9:56 am

We have them in NJ as well. We purchased ours back in December…..and they are good for all of 2009. It’s a nice treat for the kiddies after they eat their lunch!!

Wow! I have a Wendy’s just down the road for me. We often stop for their $.99 burgers if we’re in need of quick food. This would be a fabulous treat for the kids on good days. Thanks!!

I too have heard of this offer in Richmond, Va. But heard it was only for the Richmond SPCA.

5 Lisajoy Marinello February 12, 2009 at 10:17 am

Is there any info on this on the Wendy’s site or which locations participate? I live in NJ and just called my local store and they acted like I was nuts :)

Funny thing…I was just thinking that I needed to email this deal to you. I bought 4 Frosty tags for my family to use in the Philadelphia/southern NJ area. We bought them in December and have used them 1x week since then. It only requires that you buy one item for each Frosty.
Eighty cents out of the dollar went to a charity, of which I can’t remember right now. I must have Frosty brain freeze!

Now I might have to go to Wendy’s for lunch today to see. I sure hope it is everywhere. We love going to get Frosty’s in the summer instead of the outrageous prices at Dairy Queen.

This offer popped up back in December. Not a single Wendy’s here in my area (PA) had even heard of it. I think it is regional.

I love your site! It is unbelievable! Found out this morning that Mimi’s Cafe is offering a free breakfast upto $10.00 just to join their e-club. Join the e-club and print out your free coupon!! What a great deal at a fantastic restaurant!!!

10 Wendy February 12, 2009 at 10:49 am

We donate a dollar for a local charity and got 10 coupons for a free frosty, but no key tag!

11 Emily February 12, 2009 at 10:53 am

I’ll check this out in Texas! If we have this promotion, I’ll let you know! Hopefully I’ll make it by a Wendy’s by the weekend- busy schedule with work.

12 Catherine February 12, 2009 at 11:03 am

OMG OMG OMG! This is EXCELLENT! This will help me with the super excellent combination of Wendy’s Chili, Fries, and Frosty. (PS – Make sure you dip the fries in the chili and then when you are done with that, dip the rest of your fries in the frosty! HEAVEN!)

Oh, also, I don’t want to hear anyone getting any of those heathenish vanilla frostys. What is that about.

13 niki February 12, 2009 at 11:05 am

Here in Jersey (and the tristate area of PA and DE) they offer it. You get a Junior Size frosty when you flash the tag during any purchase for the whole year.
:)

14 Heidi @ GGIP February 12, 2009 at 11:12 am

Yes, I got a tag in the Philadelphia area too. My son LOVES frosties and there are some cheap items on the menu. Plus, I love that they are promoting donations in a bad economy.

15 Lynn February 12, 2009 at 11:23 am

Crystal, this is a fab tip ! After work, I’m going to the Wendy’s near my house and asking about it !

Celia, thanks for the NJ tip too…I have family there who will love this !

16 Alicia February 12, 2009 at 11:31 am

I don’t know about now, but when I was in high school, they had these cards for $1 up front. I went every week with youth group and always go a free jr. frostie! It was fun.

17 jessicasheets.com February 12, 2009 at 11:42 am

Here in PA they started it up, too! Someone from church sent my hubby and I key tags in a Christmas card! You get a cute little jr. frosty (very small) at every visit if you show your keytag when you order. It’s great for my pregnancy cravings because I get ice cream and chocolate, but in a small amount!:-)

18 Pamela February 12, 2009 at 11:50 am

WOW! My 4 y/o preschool son loves to eat Frosty and I will stop by to check out, Thanks for this head up! :-D

19 Amanda February 12, 2009 at 11:57 am

Thanks for the info. I live in the Richmond, VA area also and will have to stop by the Wendy’s near me and see if they are participating in this. My husband and I go there from time to time, but I cannot remember when we last went by. I don’t remember them asking us to donate though and the frosty offer.

20 Jenny February 12, 2009 at 11:58 am

Our Wendys isn’t doing that here. I just went there for lunch today. Darn!

21 Sarah February 12, 2009 at 12:13 pm

Here is more info on the offer:
The Richmond SPCA’s wonderful Adoption Partner Wendy’s has launched a special fundraising campaign to benefit the homeless dogs and cats in our care. Today through March 28, Wendy’s will sell special $1 key tags good for a Junior FrostyTM with every purchase through December 31, 2009! That means that each time you buy a menu item at Wendy’s, you can also get a free Junior FrostyTM – for the rest of the year. All proceeds from key tag sales will be donated to support the care of orphaned pets at the Richmond SPCA’s Robins-Starr Humane Center .

The key tags make great party favors, employee incentives, and valentines too! You may purchase them at local Wendy’s restaurants, in our Lora Robins Gift Shop, online, at Holiday Barn Pet Resorts, and at the Richmond SPCA’s Have a Heart Party. Hundreds have been sold in the first days of the campaign and supplies are limited, so be sure to get yours while they’re still available.

You may have to check with your local SPCA to see if this offer is available in your area.

22 Gwen February 12, 2009 at 12:19 pm

Wow…I had no idea Wendy’s was doing this! I’m in the Richmond, VA area (Henrico), so I’ll definately be taking advantage of this opportunity.

Thanks so much for the heads up.

23 kelly duvall February 12, 2009 at 12:37 pm

I just asked about this at our local Wendy’s. They have never heard of this . Illinois doesn’t seem to be on the best deals list much for anything. I’m jealous of all the free toilet paper!!

24 Bargain Becky February 12, 2009 at 12:39 pm

In New England (CT and ME excluded), if you donate a $1 to the Jack Williams Wednesday Child Fund, you get a coupon book for 10 free frostie Jrs. The coupons expire 6/1/09. This offer is good in RI, MA, NH, & VT.

I blogged about it here: http://bargainbecky.blogspot.com/2009/02/wendys.html

25 Beth February 12, 2009 at 12:55 pm

I just called my local Wendy’s (Kernersville, NC) and the store manager didn’t know anything about it. Too Bad!

26 Lady Di February 12, 2009 at 2:00 pm

This sounds good as I love the original Frosty. I’ll post Southern & North East Maryland results when I can.

27 Jen February 12, 2009 at 2:17 pm

I tried this today at lunch. Its a no go here in Texas.

28 Swap Savers February 12, 2009 at 2:57 pm

At our Wendy’s they offer 10 Jr Frosty’s (coupon book) for $1 which goes to the adoption fund.

29 Jessica February 12, 2009 at 3:05 pm

I called a Wendys in Gilbert AZ and they didn’t know anything about it – darn it!

30 Saryn February 12, 2009 at 3:05 pm

My son was given 2 of these at preschool. I thought it was a one time coupon until we stopped by this week and laughed when I tried to give it to them! They let me know that I can use one each time we visit!!

Yummy

31 Allison February 12, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Unfortunately (but fortunate for my waistline) it doesn’t look they’re running that promotion in the Triangle area of NC.

32 Carolyn February 12, 2009 at 4:13 pm

If your local Wendy’s doesn’t have the promotion, why don’t you call your local humane society and give them the heads up on the promotion going in different parts of the country? In this economy, shelters/humane societies can use all the help they can get, and like everyone else, I wouldn’t mind the free Frosties!

33 Tammy's GoodPlans February 12, 2009 at 4:51 pm

I asked in Broken Arrow, OK and they didn’t know what I was talking about.

34 Teresa H February 12, 2009 at 9:59 pm

Warrington, PA store has a sign in the drive thru window. The back of the key tag says good in participating Philadelphia Tri-state Wendy’s. I’ve used it at a few different Wendy’s in NJ and PA. I haven’t seen it advertised anywhere else.

35 Brenda February 12, 2009 at 10:18 pm

They did it in Southeastern PA around the holidays. The sales benefitted the American Red Cross and Salvation Army. I bought a bunch as stocking stuffers.

36 Mary H February 13, 2009 at 6:58 am

I’ll definitely have to check that one out…….my family loves Frosty’s and that would be such a money saver.
Thanks! I would have never known about it.

37 Amanda February 11, 2010 at 9:22 am

This is true! I got one and I only paid $1 and got my car key tag and then my free frosty. I love it!

38 Amanda February 11, 2010 at 9:23 am
