Starbucks stores around the country are hosting TeaTime events today at 2 p.m. offering complimentary tea and food samples. Go here for more information. And, as always, I recommend calling your store ahead of time to see if they are participating before heading there.

Maybe I’m reading the fine print wrong, but it appears you have to pay with a Starbucks credit card to get the deal?

*********************
Money Saving Mom here: The free TeaTime event is just that–free. To get the $2 Tazo Tea Lattes advertised in the link, you just have to pay with a registered Starbucks gift card, as far as I’m reading it. You can read more about the Starbucks Card Rewards member program here: http://www.starbucks.com/aboutus/pressdesc.asp?id=874

Hope that helps!

I’m going over there today and I’ll report back. Thanks for the info.

Well as you can tell I’m not out the door yet but instead… on the phone (second call) with Starbucks Corporate. I phoned 2 local stores @ 2 different times and NEITHER of them are aware of this 2pm event. They’re going to get BOMBARDED and will be clueless. So I called Corporate – Customer Relations Center [(800) 782-7282 - option #4] to make them aware of this. So the first call the woman told me she would contact the one location and let them know. Next call in for next location, I’m on hold as she is directly contacting the manager (or whomever). Either way we have a free tea coupon to use after 2pm and I can get that if all else fails. We also have a $2 after 2pm tea as well.

Check your Safeway (Randall’s etc.?) ad that came out today…free tall Tazo tea coupon redeemable at Safeway stores! At least mine did here in the Pacific NW:)

Free samples? Not so much here in Tampa. My local store didn’t really know anything about any ‘TeaTime Event’. I was allowed to purchase a London Fog Tea Latte for $2 with my registered SB card and ‘sample’ as much of that as I wished though.

First up, I gave her the free tea latte coupon and I think she was so upset… she gave it back after scanning it. :p I did get a free Vanilla Rooibos – large. (and reposted from TTM…)

Next, NO FOOD SAMPLES. The lady pulled out a 3 ring binder of information for them stating this event was sent to them in December. NOTHING was mentioned since and Corporate had to tell her where to find it in this manual. At any rate I did sample Vanilla Rooibos, Green, & London Fog Latte Teas and Apple & Berry Chai Teas. She seemed ery upset that they were unprepaired for this “event” but in only one hour, including myself, one other person came in from ANOTHER location (the first location I called in about) and they knew nothing about it still, after the call from corporate.

The customer was a card holder and wanted to refill her card. She stated this made her change her mind. The lady did offer me A pastry to try but I declined. She informed me that for these events there’s usually trays set up BEFORE hand and she really could not offer anything. I did phone corporate about this trip and she said she would pass it on to QA and she never took any of my information. I will use my card and probably will not want to go back again.

I went into my neighborhood Starbucks today (b/c I received an e-mail from Starbucks a week ago about it), and none of the Starbucks employees seemed to know anything about the teatime event either. They did, however, give my husband and I free Tall Tea Lattes of our choice!!

Wow, seems like Starbucks didn’t really have their act together with this promotion.

I got an e-mail a week ago from Starbucks as a registered card member telling me about this event so naturally I was excited about it. After reading the advice to call ahead, I called my store the morning of and they hadn’t heard about it. However she called around and found out about it and then called me back to say they’d have a few samples there. I went with a friend and they had out a sample of one kind of tea. An employee walked around with a coupon for a free drink at a later time. I wrote an e-mail to Starbucks corporate letting them know that in the future they shouldn’t send out an e-mail announcement for such an underwhelming event. I kinda wished I hadn’t worked my schedule around that time. They said they would send me some beverage coupons! Obviously not the end of the world and the employees were sweet and friendly, but something that the company probably should keep in mind for their next “event” they promote!

I made a Blog post about it and then found on the site a place to email/post it. I wish everyone who’s posting/reading would bombard them with emails/calls about this. Here’s what I received in my email with a case # attached:
