Walgreens: Free Russell Stover’s chocolate luminary (through Saturday, December 6, 2008)

by crystal on December 5, 2008

Luminary

Walgreens has Russell Stover's Private Reserve Luminary Boxes (6.7 oz.) on sale for $4.99 through Saturday, December 6, 2008. Buy two of these and they qualify for a $10 EasySaver rebate (rebate offer #53) and they are completely free after rebate!

And if you have the Buy 2, Get 1 Free coupon from the 08/17 SmartSource insert, you can not only get two free after rebate, but you also get a third one free with the coupon.

Wouldn't these make a great gift for someone for Christmas?

Thanks, Mercedes!

Wouldn’t that be 2 cents short of 10.00?

Louann December 5, 2008 at 4:58 pm

WOW! Thanks! I’m glad I checked this blog again after reading the original Walgreens info earlier. I know I have that coupon somewhere, I just hope my store has some in stock tomorrow so I can combine it with the $5 RR for $25 purchase offer.

Shannon December 5, 2008 at 5:18 pm

The ES specifically says tins so will this work even though it is not a tin?

Kay December 5, 2008 at 5:45 pm

My Buy 2, Get 1 Free coupon is for the SugarFree 3 Oz
size. Does this Russell Stover coupon vary by region?

these are already gone at my store . . . AND when i bought $15 worth of coke products and then two other items to equal $25, i only got one $5 RR . . . i really do not like walgreens; their policies and deals are confusing . . . think i’ll stick with cvs

Shellie December 5, 2008 at 9:25 pm

The Easy Saver Rebate says buy 2 or more get $10 back by mail. You don’t have to spend $10. You just have to buy at least two.

As far as the B2GO coupon goes, mine says any bag over 3.95oz up to $2.99. Just be prepared, your Walgreens may not accept the coupon for the $4.99 boxes. But maybe I have the wrong coupon. Still a great deal!

Alisha December 5, 2008 at 9:42 pm

The 11/9 Smartsource has a BIGI coupon for this as well.

Maggie December 5, 2008 at 10:01 pm

Alisha,
I don’t have the Walgreens info in front of me, but I think it’s buy 2 get $10 rebate. Not that you have to spend $10.

Suzie December 5, 2008 at 10:05 pm

Thanks so much.. I just got mine!!!

Rachel December 5, 2008 at 10:19 pm

Thanks MSM! I blogged about this over at my blog too. I actually went out and did the deal tonight with my coupon. These are great quality gifts!

Amiyrah December 5, 2008 at 10:24 pm

didn’t that coupon expire on the 30th?

Shannon December 5, 2008 at 10:46 pm

I think I would be a little leary of this one. That type of candy is not pictured and they are pretty picky with the rebates. I think I would call before buying. I had some confusion on an item once and the clerk was able to call with the UPC code to find out if it was part of the rebate or not. I think I would check first.

Did someone succesfully submit and receive approval for a rebate with these luminaries? Because, I went to Walgreens last night and they were not the right number of ounces that the rebate form stated, so I did not want to risk it. Also, they are not the specific item that is on the coupon, so if your Walgreens is picky about coupons (as mine is!) then the coupon won’t work either. Anyway, buyer beware!

Mercedes December 6, 2008 at 9:00 am

Alisha,
the rebate is based on quantity of product purchased not $$ spent.

Lindy December 6, 2008 at 9:04 am

This offer must only be in certain areas. It was not in my local ad or 4 day ad. Unless, it is posted in the store. I’ll be checking tonight at my store

Debbie December 6, 2008 at 9:18 am

Alisha, you don’t have to spend $10, you get $10. You only have to buy 2 items that qualify (no matter the cost of those two items).

Candace December 6, 2008 at 9:29 am

I saw bigger bags (10.7 oz) of Private Reserve chocolates that also rang up at $4.99. They weren’t as pretty as the luminaries for presents, but they were a bigger bag if you wanted them for stocking treats!

Finance Girl December 6, 2008 at 10:48 am

You don’t have to spend $10 to get the $10 rebate, you just have to purchase 2 (which would usually be more than $10)

Chris from St. Mary's December 6, 2008 at 11:24 am

There was no sign at the store, but it’s in the regular ad, really small, in the right-hand corner of a right-hand page. Sorry, don’t have a copy with me and I don’t remember the page #.

Priscilla December 6, 2008 at 12:21 pm

I called Walgreens easysaver customer service…(today, 12/6/08) The size can be either 6.7 or 12 oz. (as I understand, not oz. in between those 2 sizes).

There are several products that qualify, I asked for the UPC…they all start with the same 6 #s, 772600…I’ll list the additional #s that go with the 1st 6 #s…
6193
6192 (truffles)
6252
9132
9180
6191
9199
9198
9128

Priscilla December 6, 2008 at 12:25 pm

in AD pg. 20, left page…top right hand corner, $4.99 for Russell Stover private reserve bag or luminary, 5.8 to 10.3 oz.

Caroline December 6, 2008 at 12:27 pm

I went today and bought the 10.3 size bags, and I just called Walgreens Easy Saver and they said that size does not qualify for the rebate. I will be returning them! I hope it helps someone.

Kristie December 6, 2008 at 12:33 pm

How does one get this rebate everyone talks about?

Patti December 6, 2008 at 2:44 pm

I just bought the candies using my coupon and have entered my rebate – so all three bags I bought (which look like your picture) were free. They do look very impressive as gifts. Thanks for the heads up!!!

Trinity December 6, 2008 at 3:55 pm

Went and got the last 3 they had. They were a bit diffivult to find though alll the way on the top shelf towrd back with no sign or anything for the sale. But I got 3 for $11.03 so with the rebate it is $1.30 for 3!! They are really nice looking too…wish they had more I one more coupon.

Kathy December 6, 2008 at 5:44 pm

this might sound like a dumb question, but they don’t have to be on the same receipt do they?
I bought 2 bags at 2 different Walgreens b/c they were in short supply around here.
Thanks!

Glor December 6, 2008 at 9:33 pm

What an awesome deal that was – thanks so much!!

Mindy December 7, 2008 at 10:51 pm

So I did this deal, but my Walgreens would only take $2.99 off for the buy 2, get 1 free. In the small print it says: RETAILER: We will reimburse you the face value of this coupon up to $2.99…

I ended up getting 3 for $12.xx, which I figured was still great if I get the $10 rebate back. But it still just didn’t seem right to me. Was this right?

Allison December 8, 2008 at 12:13 pm

So then it does work on products that aren’t the tins? I have read all the posts, but am still not clear. It works on any of the products that Priscilla listed? Has anyone gotten approval for the rebate with products other than tins?

Jackie December 9, 2008 at 9:12 am

I went on Saturday and used my buy 2 get 1 free coupon, so after I send in my rebate I will get all three FREE!!!! My mom did the same thing on Saturday. These are pretty enough to make great Christmas gifts!!!!!!

Sandy December 9, 2008 at 12:03 pm

I talked to the manager at my Walgreen’s and he said the MIR was only on the tins, not the luminary boxes, so I didn’t buy them. I thought 10.00 was a lot of money for that chocolate, if the MIR wouldn’t work.

Chris from St. Mary's December 10, 2008 at 8:18 am

My rebate just went through! Yippee!

Chris from St. Mary's December 10, 2008 at 12:15 pm

I just checked online and my ESR for this did go through! BTW, I saw on HCW that the luminaries will be $4.99 for the four-day sale that begins Dec. 17.

julie December 10, 2008 at 3:37 pm

I just got an email from the easy saver and my 2 rebates for the russel stover luminary (whatever) didn’t work… it’s working for some? Thats ODD! I opened one to put on the tray of goodies we made for friends, the other, I will be returning!

Katy December 10, 2008 at 4:10 pm

Oh, man. I didn’t get the rebate. I didn’t notice that the bags I bought were the smaller size and thus didn’t qualify. Now I have to take them back. Bummer.

Kerri December 15, 2008 at 3:34 pm

I found these on sale today (12/15) for 4.99 still. Sign said 5.99 but they rang up at 4.99. Cool! I used 2 coupons for $1 off that were in my SS yesterday. I called the rebate center and they say these red boxes do qualify for the rebate. My first attempt at a Walgreens rebate, thanks to you all for the info!!
