Walgreens: Free Lindt chocolate!

by crystal on October 9, 2008

Lindt chocolate bars are priced at $2.49 at most Walgreens right now. If you buy two, use the $0.75/1 coupon and the B1G1 coupon (both from the 10/05 inserts) and stack them with the Walgreens October EasySaver $1/1 coupon, you’ll get the chocolate free! (Thanks for the tip, MJ!)

Here’s how it breaks down:

Buy 2 Lindt chocolate bars at $2.49 each
Use 1 $0.75/1 coupon
Use 1 B1G1 coupon
Use 1 $1/1 EasySaver coupon (should take off $2)
Free (plus small overage)

By the way, for those of you who have quite the chocolate collection going on thanks to all the free chocolate Walgreens has been handing out recently through deals, you might consider sticking it in your freezer to give away in gift baskets around Christmastime. Who doesn’t like chocolate?!

I have been looking through the next couple of weeks ads online this morning trying to figure out if I should by them now or if there was going to be a better sale coming up. Thank you! I will be buying an freezing mine today. Can’t wait to make gift baskets this year!

Where is the coupon? Old age is setting in and I can’t find it in the 10/5 inserts
Thanks

I am VERY sad to report that the St Louis metro area did not get these coupons. I guess I’ll have to settle for all of the Dove chocolate I’ve stashed away. ;)

I tried to do AJ’s Visine at Walgreen’s deal yesterday and it amounted to a penny of overage…and that then had to involve the manager to approve both coupons, and I didn’t actually GET the overage (which is fine, I just wanted to be able to use my coupons to score free Visine).

Do different Walgreens have different policies regarding overage? Because this Lindt deal looks like it will produce overage and I just hate having the register beep at me. :)

Money Saving Mom here: If you give the manufacturer’s coupons first, then the Walgreens coupons, the register should not beep. However, you’ll likely need to have something else in your order to cover the $0.26 overage. Hope that helps!

I have a question about stacking MQ’s with Wagg coupons, is there a method to this? I tried to stack at a Wagg’s in my area and the cashier told me I could only use 1 coupon per item. Suggestions.

I used the Lindt coupons at Kroger for almost as good of a deal. The bars were $2.09 so $.75/1 doubled and BOGO…I paid $.59 for 2 bars.

Hi, I am new to walgreens so there r some questions in my mind.Hope to get a answer from u;

1.Last week i bought 1 FAR item n now i m thinking of returing it.I have not yet claimed this month’s ESR.is this possible?

2. I have 2 $4.40 RR coupons can i use them on any item like toothpaste etc. I mean r thr any restrictions.

3.Suppose i have a bill of $3.00 and I pay by 1 of my RR coupon will they return me my balance of $1.50

Thanks

Will Walgreens let you use more than one coupon on the same item? I’ve never heard of a place doing that.

******************
Money Saving Mom here: Julie, I encourage you to read Walgreens 101 linked in the sidebar as this explains how Walgreens works in detail. The short answer is that yes, Walgreens corporate coupon policy is to allow the “stacking” of both a Walgreens coupon (the EasySaver coupon) and a manufacturer’s coupon.

Are you sure they will take $2.00 off using the “save $1″ from the easysaver even though the coupon says “limit 1 item per coupon”? Has any one used the coupon?

I am in the Kansas City area and I can’t find them either… :(

thanks what an awesome find.. I think I will go to the store right now to buy with my Glad candles to roll the overage into my .99. :)

I went through my 10/5 inserts about 5 times just in case I missed it and finally faced the fact that our paper didn’t have the Lindt coupons either. Bummer.

I just tried the Lindt chocolate deal. Wish I would have known about doing MFR coupons first…I did the ESC coupons first, then tried two 75 cent off coupons, THEN tried the B1G1F…the clerk refused to let me use the 2 B1G1F coupons. There was a build-up behind me (when, of course, I was originally the only one there), it was late, and some vagrant was complaining loudly about getting his “smokes”, so I just gave her two more 75 cent off coupons and left. Ended up spending $1.54 a bar on something I would have never bought if it weren’t almost free. Very frustrating, but you live and you learn, right? On the plus side, I got 5 free Oral B toothbrushes in the deal.

Hi. I too was wondering if the easy saver coupon would work for two because of the wording limit one per coupon. Aslo, maybe I misunderstood, but I thought I remembered reading that you have to have as many items as coupons for your total order. Of course I want the free chocolate, but with three sets of coupons, I can’t see adding six extra items (or eight if I need two of the easy savers for each pair). Am I misunderstanding something, or could someone explain how to take advantage? Thanks

Charlene October 9, 2008 at 11:14 pm

Yes we are 100% sure it will take off the amount of the ESR coupon for every item purchased. I personally have done it hundreds of times and never had a problem.
Also, if it says 1/2 I have bought one and had it work in that case too :)

Joanna October 10, 2008 at 2:42 pm

We are definitely newbies at this so I wasn’t surprised we had a little trouble. First they wouldn’t take the .75 off Q and then only could take 1 easysaver Q. It ended up being about 84 cents for both which was pretty good but free would have been better.:)

I just tried this deal in Chicago and it didn’t work. I was buying other things and handed the cashier the Lindt Exellence Bars last. Then I gave her the manufacturer’s coupons. She rang up the $.75/1 coupon fine, but the B1G1 beeped. Didn’t even get to the ESC ones. I know that this could work in theory, but if you are the type of person who has a coupon wary Walgreens (or don’t like having to convince a cashier/manager that the beeping register is wrong), then this may not be the deal for you. (p.s. I did get a bunch of the cleaning items also listed on this blog and was able to roll RR into it, that is an awesome deal!)

I originally commented 10/9 at 10:34 and thank you so much for that tip, Crystal…I, of course, read the Walgreens 101 before where you said the order in which to give the coupons but I must not have paid great attention. I did the Lindt today just as you said and got 6 bars all for free for my mom who eats dark chocolate daily for the antioxidants. Must be nice. :)

I wish I would’ve paid better attention before because I think I’ve missed out in the past…if anyone else is reading this comment hopefully you can learn from my mistakes in not paying good attention the first time.

I went through my inserts from last week 4 times and apparently northeast FL didn’t get the Lindt coupons, either. Very sad – I love Lindt chocolate! =o(
