Wal-Mart: Deals for this week

FavoriteLoadingAdd to my favorites

by crystal on October 14, 2008

Here are the best deals at Wal-Mart this week with thanks to MaryEllen from Centsible Savings for her help in compiling them. MaryEllen has an interesting post up this week on why she buys things she doesn't need if she can get it for free or more-than-free. I love to pick up almost-free, free, or more-than-free items whenever I can if I know someone I can share the items with. It's been so fun to be able to bless others with the abundance that God has blessed us with!

Please Note: Wal-Mart prices vary somewhat by region and
store so not all of the prices listed below will necessarily be what
your local Wal-Mart prices will be.
Also, many of you have written to say that your Wal-Mart is refusing to accept printable coupos. According to Wal-Mart corporate coupon policy, this is incorrect. I'd advise you to keep a copy of Wal-Mart's coupon policy handy with you when you shop. If politely showing that to the cashier or manager does not result in Wal-Mart accepting your printable coupons, I'd encourage you to put in a call to Wal-Mart corporate and kindly ask them to inform your store of their coupon policy on printable coupons. In almost every case, this will remedy the situation.

I hiked over to WalMart the other day to get some of these items only to discover that my store didn’t carry most of the items and then wouldn’t accept printable coupons. I was like I know it is your store policy from this website. I decided that instead of contending with the manager and having her scour over my coupons and purchases that I would just walk away from it all. I don’t mind shopping at WalMart if I am going to get a super good deal, but WalMart is the bottom of the shopping barrel in the large scale sense. If WalMart can’t take my coupons, there are plenty of store that will and I will go shop elsewhere. In this case, it meant going to the Target two doors over. Surprisingly, Target had better prices or were the same. I later also noticed that other upscale grocery stores also had the same prices as WalMart. I still plan to call corporate too. This non-acceptance of printable coupons scare that is going around is ridiculous. Most manufacturers put printables on their website and e-mail them out on mailing list. Plus, sometimes I think printables are even more difficult to acquire than buying normal ones out of the paper. Before this particular trip I spent hours searching the web and printing coupons. It’s especially annoying having the enter your name and address just to print one meager little coupon.

Awesome, I was just about to head there tomorrow.

Walmart has the smaller cans of tomato sauce for 38 cents. Here is a coupon for $1/2 http://bricks.coupons.com/Start.asp?tqnm=rjmodfh40938440&bt=wi&o=53853&c=HN&p=LYJDBhly.
It would be .72 plus tax, so around .28 overage!

Sorry, not related to this discussion, but I was wondering if you’re going to do Giveaway Roundup. Thanks for your effort, I know you’re very busy! PS I’ve heard from others that the no internet coupons at Walmart is actually COMING from Corporate. I don’t know from experience though.

***************
Money Saving Mom here: Corporate has confirmed from multiple sources in the last few days that this is not coming. Unless they just changed their mind, I don’t think we have anything to worry about!

And yes, I’ll post a giveaway round-up this morning. Time got away from me yesterday in the busyness of moving!

I was at Wal-mart on Saturday evening and got $43 worth then after coupons it was $12!!!!!!!!!! My purchases were based on the Wal-mart deals posted last week. My Wal-mart has never said anything about not wanting to use printable coupons.
I recently got a new printer recently and now my coupons that I print zip right through. With my older one they often beeped and they had to be put in manually. It definitely reduces cashier frustration.

Jessica October 15, 2008 at 7:40 am

I have had mixed luck at various places with IP coupons. I rarely shop WalMart (for many reasons), and the last time I did, the cashier tried to tell me she wouldn’t take any of my coupons- even ones from the Sunday paper! I had purchased all correct items in the correct quantity. She didn’t even try to scan any of them. She just handed them back to me! I asked her to call the manager, who came over and told her to scan them and if they scanned, to take them. They all scanned. My total came down from $23 to $1.45, and she looked at me like I was a thief! I make no apologies for using coupons combined with sales to save money.

Tara October 15, 2008 at 7:49 am

Does anyone have Wal-mart’s coupon policy? I am also having the same problem with Wal-Mart accepting Internet coupons. I did try one the other day though, after they said that they didn’t accept them. And the cashier just scanned it and no problems. I don’t know if she was supposed to or if no one told her about not accepting them. This is very agrivating though. They should either say all Wal-Marts accept them or all don’t. That would be alot easier to understand.

I have looked everywhere and cannot find the Gillette Fusion sets for $5. Has anyone in central fl found them?

Kelly October 15, 2008 at 10:18 am

I was at my local walmart the other evening and the lady at the register was very cold towards me when I handed hr my internet coupons. She stated to me that they just recieved a book from the front office of this location. They are stating that they have recieved tons of FAKE internet coupons. She kept stating that mine were ok, but really made me feel uncomfortable about the whole deal. I keep asking myself is it really worth it?

r October 15, 2008 at 10:27 am

when do walmart sales run? (tue-mon, sun-sat?)

ok i guess im asking when the deals mentioned end.

thanks, r

I went to my local Walmart today looking for four of the items listed and they only had three. Our WM is on a very busy road and I pretty much wasted my entire lunch hour going over there. This WM never has anything in stock and I have pretty much stopped shopping there, but thought I would give it one more try. No more! I complained to the Customer Service Manager and just sent an email to Corporate. Publix and Bloom will be getting my business from now on.

Happy Saving!

deb burton October 15, 2008 at 2:35 pm

Thanks for all this great info. We don’t have a supercenter where we are, so not all the items will be in our store. I am so thankful for the women who put in this amount of time and effort into these kinds of lists. My husband lost his job in May, and although he was able to go right back to work for another company, the pay is not as good and the benefits cost more. These money saving lists have been the difference between me staying home and having to get a part-time job. God’s blessings on you for all the work you do!

jk October 15, 2008 at 2:55 pm

I tried to use the $4/1 gillete coupon on the $5 gift pack and my walmart would not let me:(
I live in Texas, just wanted to let people know that some walmarts wont let you do it.

Bonnie October 15, 2008 at 5:46 pm

I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ to all who put the time into getting this post together for these deals. I sat here at the computer for…what? 15 mins?…and will save a buncha money :-) That’s good economics no matter who’s counting the numbers. Roughly $80 in 15 minutes makes me RICH!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!

Thanks again!

To God be the glory!

anonymous October 15, 2008 at 9:53 pm

The clean and clear link is wrong. The correct link is:

http://www.cleanandclear.com/blackheaderaser

And the pilsbury pizza crust is no longer available. :(

Liz October 16, 2008 at 8:19 am

Over two months ago, I had the same experience with my local Walmart not accepting internet coupons. I actually spoke with the manager of the store and had an interesting conversation. He basically told me that they were getting a lot of fraudulent coupons. I told him that I thought the real problem was the un-trained cashiers were over-riding their controls and allowing the fake coupons to get processed. I stressed that he is responsible for training cashiers appropriately. He told me that I could use my internet coupons (just to mention his name) but I still have not seen the policy changed! How frustrating.

Rebecca October 16, 2008 at 10:49 am

I am new to this and have a question. Can you buy multiple items, using multiple coupons? Like the honey bunches of oats, can i print 5 coupons and get 10 boxes?

Thanks!

Jenni October 16, 2008 at 11:25 am

The link to the Arm & Hammer Essentials Cleaners Starter Kit rebate is not working. The correct link is here: http://www.essentialscleaners.com/tryit/index.html?utm_source=walmart&utm_medium=banners&utm_content=newhomeoffice_150x110_rebate&utm_campaign=ahe_wmb_082008

Gina October 16, 2008 at 12:47 pm

My local WalMart doesn’t have an issue w/printables, thankfully. As a matter of fact, the cashier who helped me said, “I’m going home and printing some of these coupons!” I used the SC Johnson $2/1 any Scrubbing Bubbles can or pump. The big Scrubbing Bubbles cans are 2.68 and the smaller ones are 2.08 at my WalMart. I got Scrubbing Bubbles for 68-cents. Yea!

I also used the $1.75/1 Reynolds Parchment Paper. Took that from 2.84/roll to 1.09. As much as I bake, that was WONDERFUL!

AND they had Celestial Seasoning tea for 2.12/box. Using my $1/1 from the 10/4 insert I got it for 1.12. Not too bad!

the bummer was that the Fusion gift packs are $7.74 at my WalMart. Wish they were $5! Though $3.74 still wouldn’t be a bad price to pay for them.

Sara October 17, 2008 at 3:16 pm

I Just called my local Wal-Mart, who refused any internet coupons with “Veri-Fi” on them. They confirmed that they were informed not to accept these specific internet coupons. I then called corporate and they said there was a company putting out fraudulent coupons with the mail-back address of Fawcett Drive, Del Rio, Texas. This is the address on Veri-Fi coupons. Sadly, this is most printable coupons. I informed them that I had just gone to the officialArm and Hammer Website and printed a coupon bearing this address and “Veri-Fi” they then said it was up to the local store’s discression. Help! Do stores like Fry’s have similar prices for these Wal-Mart deals? I don’t want to miss out on all of these great deals! Also… you never know before you print whether it will be a “Veri-Fi” coupon or not…

Lisa October 18, 2008 at 1:24 am

Wow wow wow. I took your suggestions and added a few of my own. Original price=44.oo, out of pocket total=1.22. Thank you Thank you Thank you

http://athriftyprincess.blogspot.com/2008/10/319-out-of-pocket-my-best-shopping-day.html

Amy October 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm

Unfortunately of the eight items I went looking for, our WM only had 4 of them and none of them were on sale. I was still going to use the coupons for a few, but they wouldn’t accept my internet ones. They said they can only accept them if they scan. They all had barcodes, but they wouldn’t scan…urgh. So I ended up having them cancel the items off my order and left to go to another store. Of course once I got to Target, I realized the lady at WM never gave me back my unused coupons. Oh well.

Fox_Dawson October 21, 2008 at 3:49 pm

Thanks for all the research you do! I mentioned you in my blog.
