Omaha Steaks: Ground steak for $0.36 per pound! *Edit: This deal is no longer working.*

by crystal on October 21, 2008

VLP_vanity_burgers

I saw mention of this deal on some blogs yesterday but I didn't take close note until Catherine detailed out just how good it is. Go here to read how you can get ground steak from Omaha Steaks delivered to your door for $0.36/pound. It just doesn't get much better than that, does it?

*EDIT*: It appears that this deal is no longer working.

Geico privileges are not available in Ohio:(
I love Omaha steaks too!

Jennifer October 21, 2008 at 12:31 pm

I saw this deal posted on Common Sense with Money yeseterday and she has it posted as a dead deal today. Apparently, they changed the code to $10 off a $50 order.

**********************
Money Saving Mom here: Catherine (whose post I linked to) as well as some others have confirmed that it has worked for them in the last 24 hours. I have yet to try it myself but plan to in a bit. Let us know if it works for you.

Denise October 21, 2008 at 12:32 pm

Bummer…it’s not available for Ohio residents.

Jessica October 21, 2008 at 1:04 pm

I’m in Ohio, and it says it’s not available to Ohio residents.

Nichole October 21, 2008 at 1:10 pm

Tryin it now to see if it works!

Kim October 21, 2008 at 1:45 pm

I’ve used it too! The $10/$50 deal is for those who go straight to the geico privileges website and look up Omaha steak deals. The $25 gift card comes in your email. I had to signin to the geico website THEN click on the link in the email to get the coupon code. Otherwise, I was just getting the $10/$50 link on the privileges page. Try logging in, then click on your email link. :)

nicole October 21, 2008 at 2:03 pm

I’ve done this and the original link is dead but there are others out there, Catherine posted a special where if you go through her link, you get 12 free hamburgers and if two people use that link she will get a $20 e-gift card. HOWEVER, I just sent my mom to sign up for Geico Privileges and they no longer have the promotion running! So if you have not already registered to get a code, you probably can’t use this deal.

Kahle October 21, 2008 at 2:38 pm

Crystal, Have you tried this?

Joanna October 21, 2008 at 2:39 pm

I had good luck with this earlier today. It appears you have to choose an item that’s more than $12 for the free burgers to show up- I tried it with the less-expensive pet treats to no avail.

The Geico coupon code is essentially $25 off you order- so, $12.99 item (sausages or ground steak) + $13.99 shipping = ~$27 – $25 gift certificate = $2 OOP for the item you chose + the 12 free steak burgers.

Marion October 21, 2008 at 2:42 pm

Hmmm….I haven’t gotten an email from Geico yet. And I registered over 2 hours ago.

Julie October 21, 2008 at 2:58 pm

This sounds almost too good to be true? Is there a catch?

mom_of2boys October 21, 2008 at 3:17 pm

I wish it was available in Ohio!

Stephanie October 21, 2008 at 3:56 pm

I tried this yesterday and never received an email with a code. :(

Cherilyn October 21, 2008 at 4:14 pm

This is a fabulous deal. I did it this morning and for $1.98 will receive 14 frozen patties, a cutlery set and a cutting board. Shipping is included in this price!

Jennifer October 21, 2008 at 4:19 pm

Thanks for posting this. I just filled everything out and am waiting for the email with the gift card. Crossing my fingers that it still works.

Jenni October 21, 2008 at 5:36 pm

I still haven’t gotten an email from Geico, and registered 4 hours ago :( .

Candice October 21, 2008 at 6:10 pm

I signed up this morning and still haven’t received an email. Was there anything else I was supposed to do after I entered my info on the Geico site?

anonymous October 21, 2008 at 6:10 pm

Never got the email link. :(

BusyMom October 21, 2008 at 6:26 pm

Where did you see that it doesn’t apply to residents of Ohio? I can’t find it. Maybe I am looking on the wrong site?

Jenni October 21, 2008 at 7:13 pm

FYI – I had to wait 7 hrs to get the email with the $25 off, but now it works just great!

Lesley October 21, 2008 at 7:28 pm

I just did this today, Tuesday, and it worked for me. :0) Thanks for the heads up. :0)

Crystal Malek October 21, 2008 at 7:31 pm

This still works. I signed up around 2pm, and didn’t get the giftcard # until almost 7pm. Yay!!

Tovah Certain October 21, 2008 at 7:33 pm

WORKED FOR ME!!! YEAH!!!!

Bay October 21, 2008 at 7:34 pm

Yes!! I signed up for the Geico offer this morning and I JUST got my $25 g/c now. The whole deal worked for me…I’m super excited :)

Monica October 21, 2008 at 7:34 pm

Thanks so much for sharing this great deal – I just completed my order and was thrilled to spend just $1.98 for 20 hamburger patties! :)

Heather October 21, 2008 at 7:37 pm

Sweet! Worked for me in Michigan. Thanks!

Amanda Williams October 21, 2008 at 7:44 pm

Worked like a charm for me!
$3.98 for 24 4 oz. steak burgers!! :)

Thank you!!

Gina Cocking October 21, 2008 at 7:59 pm

I still can’t figure it out, how did you get to the $25 gift card? I never got the email.

Kristie McNealy October 21, 2008 at 8:05 pm

Just did it, and it worked for me! Yum!

Karen Galloway October 21, 2008 at 8:07 pm

It worked for me here in VA. Thanks for the heads up on a great deal!

Bethany October 21, 2008 at 8:08 pm

I got it…whoo-hoo! Great Deal! Thanks for the awesome info!

abigail October 21, 2008 at 8:15 pm

If you click the link in the email from Geico privileges and it takes you to the $10 off $50 deal, try logging in to Geico privileges and then click the link again. That worked for me.

Jennifer October 21, 2008 at 8:20 pm

This worked for me! You have to be careful with the link you use to initially sign up a Geico. There is a good description of how to do this at Mercedes’ site, Common Sense with Money. Good luck and happy barbecuing!

Tina October 21, 2008 at 8:24 pm

Thanks kim .. I was getting really discouraged.. but once I logged in THEN clicked the link in the email it worked .. I opted to get some italian sausage for 14.99 with the free burgers …

I’m really happy for who ever we are all signed up under they are gonna get a ton of $20 e-cards!!

Danielle October 21, 2008 at 8:35 pm

I had the same experience as Kim. Once I got the e-mail from Geico, I logged into the website and then went back and clicked the link in my e-mail and got the $25 gift card. My total was $1.98. I just finished doing it, so as of 9:30PM EST on 10/21, it is working.

Kristi October 21, 2008 at 8:42 pm

Worked great this afternoon using Catherine’s step-by-step instructions!!!

Lisa H October 21, 2008 at 8:51 pm

It worked for me! Whatta deal! Thanks for posting!

Lisa Merriman October 21, 2008 at 8:59 pm

Worked great for me! I am getting 8 (5oz) Omaha steak burgers and 12 (4oz) steak burgers and spent $1.98 oop. She’s right, makes it about .35 per pound. AMAZING! Only one per household, but what a great deal! Thanks!

Ana M. October 21, 2008 at 9:10 pm

Took 6 hours to get the Geico email but it worked like a charm! Thanks so much!

Renee October 21, 2008 at 9:14 pm

IT WORKED FOR ME!!! Yaa that was the best fun I have had in ages…yes deal finding can be entertainment! LOL

Jenn October 21, 2008 at 9:17 pm

I just completed the purchase, no problems!

Mary October 21, 2008 at 9:17 pm

Yay! It worked for me! You have to follow Catherine’s directions exactly but it does work.

Abby October 21, 2008 at 9:18 pm

Worked for me!!!! AWESOME!!!! I am so excited. Thanks for posting :)

Edith October 21, 2008 at 9:39 pm

Hi! Thanks for this link! I went and done it. I live in Ohio and I got through it just fine. Even placed my order and the balance I ended having to pay was $1.98….

It took a little digging through the email links, but I done it and all. Now I’m just waiting on my confirmation email (I’ve already printed the order off, but waiting on the email stating the order and information).

Teresa October 21, 2008 at 9:39 pm

I had to go thru the same thing as Kim, but it worked for me, too! The first time I clicked the link it took me to the GEICO priveleges home page, I signed in, the clicked on the email link again & it worked. Can’t wait to get my shipping notice!! :-)

Edith October 21, 2008 at 9:41 pm

Well, I just got my email confirmation. My meat package will be mailed tomorrow (the 22nd) and should arrive on Friday (the 24th)…. Yeah!!!! :)

Tammy October 21, 2008 at 9:45 pm

It just worked nicely for me.

Heidi October 21, 2008 at 10:02 pm

This deal as of 11:00 p.m. on 10/21/08 is still working! I just ordered my burgers. What a great deal!!!! You must follow the directions on “Catherine Wheels” to a T and it did take about 2 hours to receive my first email.
Thanks for posting this!!

Cindy October 21, 2008 at 10:06 pm

I’m in Ohio and it worked fine for me. I didn’t realize it wasn’t supposed to be valid in Ohio until I read the comments above.

Thanks for sharing this!

kristal October 21, 2008 at 10:13 pm

i got through all the way to the last step where i apply my gift code and it popped up invalid because it had already been used that same day. i didn’t ever get to the gift card code page so i know i didn’t accidentally apply it before. did this happen to anyone else?

Virginia October 21, 2008 at 10:14 pm

It worked like a charm for me. Thanks for the tip! I can’t wait for them to get here.

50s Housewife October 21, 2008 at 10:18 pm

Everything worked just fine for me and I can’t wait to get my order! Thanks for posting this great deal. :)

Michelle October 21, 2008 at 10:34 pm

I followed the link this evening and it still works. What a treat to get steak burgers and SO cheap. Thanks for the link Crystal.

Michelle

Jennifer Caldwell October 21, 2008 at 11:51 pm

Thank you to you and Catherine for posting this. It took quite some time to receive the email (about seven hours), but once I did, it worked. Like others have mentioned, you have to log in to Geico, THEN click on the link to receive the gift card code, but once you do that, it’s go to go. Thank you so much!!!

Amy October 22, 2008 at 12:18 am

It worked – it took 9 hrs to get the Geico email – but after that it worked like a charm! Thanks – I can’t tell you how happy my husband is!!!

Amy West October 22, 2008 at 1:22 am

I am in Ohio and just placed my order…. hope I dont get charged the difference!

Crystal DuBois October 22, 2008 at 1:41 am

WooHoo! Worked fo me in California. A little tricky though. I signed up with Geico this morning at around 10:20am. I left the house for a few hours expecting my code to me in my inbox. I never got it. So I tried registering with my G-Mail account instead and I received my GC code in about an hour. (that was at 7:30 pm, so the deal is still working!)

PS I still haven’t recieved the first code, and its 11:40 pm

Liz October 22, 2008 at 3:20 am

Everything worked great for me! Just followed the links and my total was $1.98!!

Genevieve October 22, 2008 at 3:47 am

Worked for me (OR) right now, and it worked for a friend in VA earlier this afternoon!

Mary Ann October 22, 2008 at 4:49 am

This worked great for us! Thanks for posting this, Crystal! We love good quality meat for an excellent price!:-)

Nydia October 22, 2008 at 6:15 am

I signed up at 3pm yesturday and got my email with the giftcard # this morning…I guess we bombarded them, and it took longer, I told my mother in law and it seemed she got to the geico site in time, but still hasnt gotten her giftcard #. I used mine right away and got the 20 burgers for $1.98. I was very happy, now I am keeping my fingers crossed that my mother in law also gets this good deal.

Crystal October 22, 2008 at 7:34 am

Thanks! Worked great for me.
If you have trouble getting the $25 dollar GC log in then click through your email link again and it should give you the right onPr

Kim October 22, 2008 at 7:47 am

I did this last night, but I called Omaha directly first to make sure it was legitimage, and to my surprise, it is! It took a while, but I finally got it to work. My order truly did cost $1.98, and UPS will be delivering to me on Friday! Don’t let this one get away from you!

debbie October 22, 2008 at 7:56 am

I live in Ohio, got my Geico email and ordered the burgers this morning, I paid 1.98. Thanks!

Tami October 22, 2008 at 7:59 am

The deal has been pulled from Geico. I did it as soon as I saw it on this blog and it worked. But when I went back and put in my husband’s info, it is no longer there. I guess they had too much traffic and couldn’t give away that much. But I did get 20 Steak Burgers for $1.98 OOP. Thanks, Money Saving Mom

****************
Money Saving Mom here: It appears to still be working, from reports I’m receiving. However, I’ve heard that you cannot register under more than one email address to do this more than once. I could be wrong on that, but that could be possibly what happened for you? It’s still showing up on my end that you can sign up on the Geico website.

Melissa October 22, 2008 at 8:01 am

Still working at 8 AM Weds. morning. Just follow the directions… My Email with the gift code arrived in less than 1/2 hour! Thanks! I am excited about this deal :)

Renee October 22, 2008 at 8:19 am

Kristal-

I just did the same thing and a yellow box appeared and is saying my code is invalid. I am not sure what to do now. Anyone know for the two of us so far this is happeneing to?
Appreciate it:)

Renee

Melanie October 22, 2008 at 8:20 am

For those of you saying it’s not available in Ohio, I live in the Dayton area and received my four boneless strip steaks and free cutlery set yesterday! It was a grand total of $8.96 for all that!!!! So, YES, it is available in Ohio.

Ann October 22, 2008 at 8:25 am

This works perfect for me.

Remember to paste “geicoprivileges.com/steaks” to browser and make sure the sign up button has “omaha steaks” on it. When you get the email if you don’t see the code at the link, go to geico privileges and sign in.

You’ll have to buy at least 12.99 I think.

Nicole Feilciano October 22, 2008 at 8:32 am

Sorry, this has nothing to do with dining. I jsut wanted to thank you for the contest listing. I’ve been getting consistent hits from the weekly roundup you do. Thanks for this generous way to connect with readers and get them free stuff! What can I do for you?

Jessica October 22, 2008 at 9:00 am

It tells me my total has to be $50 in order to use my code. What am I doing wrong?

Kristin October 22, 2008 at 9:28 am

My code is doing the same as Jessica’s – even tho the email doesn’t say anything about a minimum order, it’s telling me when I try to apply the code that I must order at least $50! :(

Jennifer Schmidt October 22, 2008 at 9:36 am

I tried this, and it kept popping up with errors on the final checkout page (even though it accepted the giftcard, and brought my balance to $1.98)…The errors said to please call assistance, and that my order had to be over $100 to use the special offer. Whatever. I called Assistance, and they said, yes-she was informed that it did have to be over $100 to use the giftcard. Must have had too many people taking advantage of this great offer? Oh, well-sounds like an awesome deal, while it lasted! :)

Shannon October 22, 2008 at 9:38 am

This did not work for me. I got all the way to payment, but now the checkout says that you need to spend $100 to get the $25 off. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with customer service-they said they just changed the policy at 9:35 Wednesday morning (while we were on the phone BTW). I think they figured out people were getting free burgers.

Hilary T October 22, 2008 at 9:55 am

When I entered my code at checkout it said that I must spend $100 in order to use that code. I’m not sure if they changed the deal or what. Has this happened to anyone else.

Joy October 22, 2008 at 9:58 am

This was working for me up until I hit “apply” to apply the $25 gift card- then I got an error message saying that it is only good on orders of $100 or more. Too Bad!

Merideth October 22, 2008 at 10:09 am

Same thing here with the $100 minimum. I DID send in an email to Customer Service. So we’ll see what happens. I KNEW I should have done this yesterday!!! ;)

Lee Scott October 22, 2008 at 10:09 am

I did it last night about 1 am 10/22 and it worked. Make sure you are logged in once you click the link from your email. I got my parents to get some too and hopefully my sister can get hers today too. This is a good deal Thanks!

Kris October 22, 2008 at 11:00 am

thank you so much for the heads-up!

Wendy October 22, 2008 at 11:12 am

When I tried to use the Geico code, it said I had to spend $50. Apparently Geico left that out so when I called, the woman said she would put my order through as a courtesy. When I tried to tell her about the 12 free burgers, she said that I can only do one offer at a time so all I got was 8 burgers for $1.98.

Amy October 22, 2008 at 2:42 pm

I just wanted to let everyone know that I did the deal yesterday and thought I was successful. I even got a confirmation email from Omaha Steaks. But this afternoon I just recieved another email from Omaha Steaks stating that they do not allow the combining of promotions and were removing the free 12 burgers from my shipment.

amanda October 22, 2008 at 2:54 pm

I did this last night and got the confirmation email. However today I got an email saying I couldn’t use the gift card and still get the free burgers so it will not be including them in this order. If someone else gets all the free stuff, I’d like to know so I can call them. Thanks.

Mrs. S October 22, 2008 at 3:28 pm

I just received an email saying that the ‘free’ burgers couldn’t be combined w/ my gift card since it was a promotion. BUMMER! Did anyone else have that problem?

Elle October 22, 2008 at 3:28 pm

Earlier today I received my conformation…YEAH!

However, I just received another email from Omaha steaks and they said that I would NOT be receiving my free item on my order because I used the giftcard…offers cannot be combined…BUMMER! Now, I will only be receiving the burgers that I paid for….anyone else have this happen to them?

bondgurl October 22, 2008 at 3:28 pm

It worked for me this morning and I got the cofirmation email, but then I just got an email saying this:

“Thank you for shopping at Omaha Steaks! We appreciate your business and are confident you will be delighted with your order.
We do show when placing this order, a special offer for a free item was combined with the $25 reward card. As stated in all promotions for free items, offers cannot be combined. Your order will ship without the free item.”

Which kinda stinks but still worth it!

Amy W October 22, 2008 at 3:38 pm

I ordered last night but then got an email today saying i couldnt combine the free burgers with the $25 gift cert. :(
But $1.98 for some burgers is still a good price!

Michelle October 22, 2008 at 3:40 pm

I just got an email confirmation that my order was received but the 12 free burgers cannot be used in conjunction with the $25 giftcard so they will not be sending the free items. Bummer, but $1.98 for 8 burgers is still a great deal.

Kim October 22, 2008 at 3:44 pm

I thought I got the deal. My order processed and so did my payment. Omaha Steaks contacted me 24 hours later via e-mail saying they were removing the free burgers from my order. They said you can’t combine the free burgers with the use of a gift card. I still got 8 burgers for 1.98. Not a bad deal but bad customer service.

Sara October 22, 2008 at 3:52 pm

I just did this deal and THOUGHT it worked great. Until I got an email from the Omaha Steaks customer service which stated that I would not get the free gift hamburgers because you cannot get a free offer with the $25 dollar gift card offer. I do not know what this does to the amount that I paid as of yet but can assume that they cannot charge me for more than I authorized for them to at the time of check out. Has this happened to anyone else?

Lee Scott October 22, 2008 at 4:18 pm

just got an email that they won’t combine my free ones with my gift card. So I am only getting 4 hamburgers…not such a good deal now!

Sunshinesavings October 22, 2008 at 5:30 pm

i did this deal yesterday and got an email today saying that they were only going to send me the 8 burgers i bought and not the free 12 from the offer since i used the 25 dollar gift card. i even emailed customer service asking them to reconsider and they wrote back saying no. they are only sending 8 burgers for 1.98. oh well :(

Jennifer Caldwell October 22, 2008 at 5:49 pm

Just got an email from Omaha Steaks saying that you can’t combine the free burgers with any other offer, so my order will be sent without the free burgers. Bummer.

Jennifer Caldwell October 22, 2008 at 6:07 pm

I’ve emailed Omaha Steaks and am anxious to hear from them. They are not being truthful. Nowhere on the email that they sent with the “12 Free Burger” information, nor the page that opens does it take “not to be used with any other offer.” Also, the $25 Reward Gift Card is just that, a gift card. Nowhere on the email from GEICO does it say that it can not be used with any other offer. Finally, when you click on Omaha Steaks gift cards, it does not say that you can’t use it in conjunction with free items. So, they panicked and are trying to clean up the mess, but they are not being truthful and not using good business ethics.

Topwaystosave October 22, 2008 at 7:45 pm

This workd for me last night too. I got four 4 oz filet mignon steaks and 12 burgers for $8 including S&H. Awesome tip. Would have been $33

Liz October 22, 2008 at 7:49 pm

I placed my order last night and just received an email tonight that I would not get the free burgers, but I still got a good deal using the $25 gift card.

Jen October 22, 2008 at 7:51 pm

I just got the same email as the others taking off the free burgers. I am really disappointed. :(

Lisa H October 22, 2008 at 7:55 pm

To update – I thought it worked for me, but I just got an email from Omaha saying you can’t get free stuff (12 free hamburgers) when using a gift card. So I’ll just be getting the other burgers, for the $1.98. I won’t complain…

Devildogwife October 22, 2008 at 7:58 pm

My “deal” went though, but I just received a confirmation email saying that they removed the free burgers as you can’t combine the gift card and freebie. :(

Mary October 22, 2008 at 8:05 pm

Just got an email from Omaha Steaks:

Thank you for shopping at Omaha Steaks! We appreciate your business and
are confident you will be delighted with your order.

We do show when placing this order, a special offer for a free item was
combined with the $25 reward card. As stated in all promotions for free
items, offers cannot be combined. Your order will ship without the free
item.

If you have any questions regarding your order, please contact us at
1-800-329-6500. We would be happy to assist you.

Nicole October 22, 2008 at 8:07 pm

Did anyone else get an email saying that their free items would not be shipped because you cannot combine a gift reward certificate with a free offer? I think that is so bogus and have looked over my gift card # which I printed out and it says nothing on there about not combining. I’ve sent an email to Omaha Customer Service.

Dina October 22, 2008 at 8:25 pm

I guess too many people did this deal… :( ((
I just got this message too… :( ((

Sharon October 22, 2008 at 8:33 pm

Ordered the 12 4 oz burgers, plus the 12 free for $3 something. Just got this message in my e-mail:

We do show when placing this order, a special offer for a free item was
combined with the $25 reward card. As stated in all promotions for free
items, offers cannot be combined. Your order will ship without the free
item.

Jennifer October 22, 2008 at 8:35 pm

I did this deal yesterday and it worked fine, but then I just received an e-mail from Omaha and they told me I couldn’t get the free item and use the gift card. =(

Melissa October 22, 2008 at 8:36 pm

Just received the same e-mail. What incredibly poor customer service. If handled correctly this deal could have brought them a lot of repeat business, but they are definitely losing customers after not even honoring the orders that were processed already. Shame on you, Omaha Steaks!

My Boaz's Ruth October 22, 2008 at 8:46 pm

I just got a second confirmation from Omaha Steaks saying they removed the free burgers from my order “We do show when placing this order, a special offer for a free item was combined with the $25 reward card. As stated in all promotions for free items, offers cannot be combined. Your order will ship without the free item.”

(I didn’t see this in the special conditions. Did anyone else?)

Heather October 22, 2008 at 9:19 pm

They took my 12 (4oz) steak burgers away saying the offers cannot be combined.

Katie October 22, 2008 at 9:35 pm

Just to let you know – I just received an email from Omaha Steaks taking back the offer of the 12 free steaks. They said that deals can’t be combined (even though they automatically added the 12 to my order). The email says that they will not be sending out the 12 free ones to me, but I am still getting 8 5-oz. burgers for $1.98, which is still a pretty good deal!

I just received the same e-mail canceling the 12 free burgers so I called and canceled my order. I know that the 8 burgers for $1.98 is still an okay deal, but it is the principle of the situation. To cancel that part of my ALREADY PROCESSED order is dishonest and bad business. I prefer not to give any of my money, no matter how little to a company like that. How very disappointing. I hope others do the same and show their company our displeasure where it matters…their pocketbook!

It worked for me, so I thought, but I just got an email saying that I could not combine the free burgers, with the gift card, so they took off the free burgers. Anyone else have this problem?

I got the following email today -

Dear MRS LASTNAME

Thank you for shopping at Omaha Steaks! We appreciate your business and
are confident you will be delighted with your order.

We do show when placing this order, a special offer for a free item was
combined with the $25 reward card. As stated in all promotions for free
items, offers cannot be combined. Your order will ship without the free
item.

Still okay – but not nearly as good as before.

I also got the email indicating that they are changing their terms and have entered into a fun little email banter with them. I have a feeling that Omaha Steaks is going to regret taking their error out on the consumers. These are the terms that were provided with gift card #:

“Terms: Your Omaha Steaks $25 Reward Gift Card is a one-time use code and may be used on one customer transaction. This code must be entered at checkout to apply your discount. You may only use one Reward gift Card per order. Reward Gift Cards may not be used to purchase Omaha Steaks Gift Cards, e-Gift Cards or wine. This card may not be applied to previous sales, has no cash value, is non-transferable and will not be replaced if lost or stolen. This offer can only be redeemed online or by phone. This card is void if altered, defaced, copied, transferred
or sold through any auction. Card expires 12/31/08.

Nothing about using in combination. I urge those who ordered to contact customer service. Companies should not be able to change terms after the fact.

I did this deal on the 21st and got a confirmation email saying it worked fine but then this morning got another email from Omaha Steaks saying I could not use both the $25 gift card AND the free hamburgers gift. They are taking away my hamburgers as a result!! It’s not nearly as good a deal for someone who didn’t need the meat in the first place. :(

I just received my confirmation e-mail…however, it states that I combined two offers…the $25 reward card and the 12 free burgers…said that I wouldn’t get the 12 free burgers…still a good deal on the rest.

i received an email after i had placed my order with omaha steaks that said i would not receive the twelve free burgers, because i cannot use two promotions at once. they claim that it is clearly stated. i did not see that claim. it should not have gone thru as if i was going to get it, then take it away. i think that is a little shady. just goes to show, too good to be true still holds true.

Omaha Steaks and I have become penpals but I am not satisfied with the responses I get (yet). I have filed a formal complaint with the Nebraska BBB. I will not be recommending this company to anyone ever again. I have ordered from them in the past for Christmas gifts but will not be doing so in the future.

Well, I guess it didn’t work for me after all! Did anyone else get this email? I’ll still be getting a few burgers but not as great of a deal as I thought. Bummer.

Crystal,

I just got an email about my Omaha Steak order. You cannot combine a promotional gift certificate with a free offer purchase. This is still a good deal, though. Just not as good as before! The email said that it was shipping without the free burgers. What a bummer! Just thought I’d let you know in case you wanted to update your other readers. Not sure if they had the same issues or not??

I thought this worked great. I placed my order, used my credit card to pay for it, received an email confirmation of my order, etc.
Then, within 12 hours, I received an email from Omaha Steaks, stating that they had canceled part of my order(the free burgers part) because they said there was fine print stating that two promotions could not be combined. Regardless of what they say, there was NO such wording on either the gift card code or the free burgers promotions.
OS is canceling orders left and right and causing quite an uproar. Several people have filed complaints, contacted customer service, all to no avail.
I also emailed customer service, but have yet to receive a reply. I’m not happy with them, but don’t expect that they will correct the situation even though they confirmed my order, charged my card, and then proceeded to cancel part of my order without prior warning.
If I didn’t need the inexpensive meat, I would cancel my order completely, just on principle. I’m thinking about doing it anyway! This is such BAD, BAD business!!!

This was the reply after complaining:
Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate your interest in Omaha
Steaks and we apologize for any confusion with our special offers.

All Omaha Steaks free item promotions state that they cannot be
combined with any other offer. The Reward Gift Card that you received is a
special promotion offered through Geico and while this Reward Gift Card
did not stipulate that it could not be combined with another offer, the
Omaha Steaks free item promotion did state that it could not be combined
with any other offers. Therefore, the free item was removed.

If we can be of further assistance please contact us via email or by phone
at 1-800-329-6500.

I had the same experience with getting my order canceled. Fortunately, I had a screen shot of the offer I responded to, and all the corresponding emails. I sent those off to Omaha Steaks, and it appears I’ll be getting those burgers after all. You can read about the whole exchange with OS if you click on my name. It goes straight to my blog post about it.

It looks like persistence pays off.

the deal worked for me but when my box came today it only included the original burgers that i ordered. there was a note attached to the order stating that the additional free burgers could not be combined with the original deal. bummer. so, it wasn’t that great of a deal after all.
