Since Walgreens hasn’t been too generous this week in handing out deals (Yeah, right!), they decided to release a $10/$40 coupon for Friday and Saturday! Go here to print yours.
As always, remember that this coupon can only be used on purchases over $40–after manufacturer’s coupons. And since last time there was some trouble, I just say to play it safe and make sure your purchase equals $40 after all coupons, including Walgreen’s coupons.
While that might seem like a massive amount to spend at Walgreens if you are used to getting things free or almost free, don’t despair! If you purchase items which will produce Register Rewards or rebates, you can actually come out quite ahead!
See all the great deals and rebates at Walgreens this week here.
So, let’s hear your scenarios and how you are going to make the most of this coupon. Leave your link below to your direct post on your blog with your scenario or post your scenario in the comments section. I can’t wait to see what you frugal zealots come up with!

Here’s what I will attempt (don’t see why it won’t work, but we’ll see).
Purchase 5 cans of Good Start baby formula – $130.94
Purchase 5 newspapers – $9.95
Purchse 3 Robitussion cough meds – $11.97
PURCHASE TOTAL: $152.94
Use 5 Wags Goodstart Catalina Coupons – $50.00
Use 5 Wags Catalinas (from Robitussion deal) – $50.00
Use 3-$3.00 Robitussin couons – $9.00
TOTAL COUPONS: $109.00
FINAL TOTAL (after purchases and coupons): $43.94
Then, I’d use the $10 off $40 to bring my order down to $33.94
THEN I’d use 3 – $6.00 Goodstart checks bringing my final total down to $15.94
Does anyone see any reason I should get flagged or beeped on this? I’ve got 13 items and 13 mannies. Should I add one more item for the $10/$40?

Just wondering why I can never get your whole page to load… tried both my computers and using both browsers we have… just thought you might want to know.

If you go to the checkout at Kohl’s, you can pick up a Get $5 Off Your Next Purchase form, give it back to your cashier (all you have to do is give your e-mail address, no purchase required) and then you get your printable coupon via e-mail within 1-2 days. The coupon can be used with any purchase up to $5 (so you could buy something free for $5 or less) and can be combined with other offers/sales. Kohl’s sends you a personalized coupon with your e-mail address and a personal redemption code printed on the coupon (so you can only use one coupon per transaction). But if you buy something out of the clearance section, you could end up with 1-2 free items this way!

I am wondering why you said the $10 off $40 has to be on a purchase of over $40? I always just make them run the $10 off $40 first and then all the coupons and it works every time. Have other people had problems with getting it work?
******************
Most times, the cash register won’t accept this coupon unless your total, after coupons, is above $40. I’ve heard of various people having different experiences, though.
Money Saving Mom here: Sheri, the coupon language explicitly states this, that’s why.

Did anyone else have problems using two RRs from the Robittussin deal on one order? Mine would only allow one per order.

Debbie, when I went to my wags today I tried to use two of the wags catalinas from the robitussin and the cashier told me that I can only use one per purchase. Any comment on that?

I LOVE Walgreens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Reply]
Thanks so much! It looked so fun, I’m trying the blog thing myself.

Just for info sakes, at my Walgreens, the last time they had this Q, I didn’t print one out, because I was only planning on spending a few dollars, then I took my 18 yr old son with me…needless to say, I ended up spending more than $40, and the cashier gave me the $10 off by just typing in the Q code!!!! But with Qs and rebates, I still saved over half!!!

I’m trying to plan my $10/40 shopping trip for tomorrow. I understand that I have to have a $40 after coupon total, but I’m wondering about RR. I have $10 in RR to spend. Does Walgreens consider that a coupon? Thanks!
[Reply]
Thank you so much for all of your work. I LOVE your blog and it has helped me get so excited about saving money. Do you only have deals for grocery and household items or do you find deals on everything? I was wondering if you have run across any great deals for family portraits. My daughter will be turning one in a couple of months, and I was hoping to get a professional family photo at a good price. Do you happen to know which places have the best and cheapest photos? If not, no problem – I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask!
[Reply]
yes an RR is a mfg coupon
[Reply]
Yes they do count RR as coupons.
[Reply]
I’m so excited about this since I have two baby showers to buy for this weekend! Perfect timing–thanks, Walgreens!

Does anyone know…can RR”s be added to a Walgreens Gift Card that I already have? I thought I read that somewhere, but can’t find anything about it now. Thanks!
[Reply]
I did ok this morning. Got the Chemistry, excedrin, Pro health mouthwash and toothpaste, one shout wipes, three windex wipes, three pledges with bounus, two ousts, and three robitussin. I spent $38 total on a gift card and got $24.50 back in register rewards, plus the $17.35 back on the gift card and I had a small money maker with lots of stuff for me and to give away! With luck, I can pull one more tomorrow too, and finish up the last of the deals to be had and have even more cough medicine to give to a local women’s/children’s shelter!! they get excited about the over the counter meds.

I usually don’t have these kinds of problems but…I am not finding the robitussin $3/1 coupon anywhere. I know someone posted an exact link, but it still took me to the same site and all I can find is the $1 coupon. Did they remove the $3 coupon? Anyone know? Am I missing something!
[Reply]
I’m so confused. I am new to all of this (only been doing CVS for around a month now… and I love it
). You say that you can only use $10/$40 after coupons, but I have been looking at many of the scenario’s and they are using coupons after the $10/$40. Not sure how to plan my trip??
[Reply]
I was just wondering if you had heard of this or what you make of it:
I was on hotcouponworld in the walgreens forum and they were saying that they called the company and the company told them that the 10/40 has to be used after all WALGREENS coupons. So if you go in you use all the walgreens coupons, then hand them the 10/40 coupons and THEN hand them the manufacturers coupons and that should work. They said that they get reimbursed the full price of the manf. coupons so they are not counting that.
Ive noticed that many people are having good experiences with this order of operation at the cash register…but I’m new to all this and get nervous and don’t want to do the wrong thing. What’s your take? Thanks!

I went to my local Walgreen’s today to stock up on the Robitussin and Dimetapp deal, plus a few other deals. The store manager knows me and is so kind. He even stopped me to ask if I got the Crest Mouthwash this week. Of course I had
He then proceeded to tell me that RR probably won’t be around much longer. The vitamin companies have already pulled out of those deals. All thanks to people that take advantage of them. Serious advantage. The Walgreens store manager told me of a few people that came in this week to “stock up.” One person bought about 30 mouthwashes and then used the RR to buy gasoline gift cards. Another bought about 30 bottles of Robitussin. I asked him if he doesn’t get reimbursed for the coupons though (particularly the $3 robitussin coupons). He said that when people print multiples of these types of coupons, it has the same security code on them all. The manufacturer will only reimburse them for one coupon per security code. I quickly looked at my coupons and sure enough…I had printed them from one computer and so they all had the same security code. Well folks, I really don’t want to see RR go away and so I put all but three bottles of my Robitussin/Dimetapp away. I still made $1 on the deal…and didn’t take advantage.
The manufacturers don’t like being given multiple coupons with the same security codes on them to be reimbursed and so they pull out of the RR with Walgreens.
I got to thinking that we (at least it seems) are mostly Christian stay at home mommy’s and we really aren’t out to make money…just SAVE money. So…if we could pass this word along to others and be sure we are HONEST in our coupon printing, hopefully it will be around (along with RR) for a long time to come!
[Reply]
Do you know, can you use RRs to buy Wags gift cards? Sometimes I don’t want to use the RRs right away, but with only a 2 week expiration date, I have to. I’d love to buy a GC with them and be able to use that at leisure, rather than forcing myself to find a good scenario. Just wondering if anyone knew. Thanks so much!!

If you register for the coupons with different email addresses, you can get different security codes! Or if you print one per day you get a different code even if you use the same address you’ve used before.
If people are taking advantage, then the stores should put a limit on the deal rather than punish everyone by taking it away. CVS does this well with the extrabucks card (though of course it doesn’t prevent a person from having multiple cards). Wags could do the same.

I posted what I did on Mr linkys. since I used all of the rest of the MIR for the last $10 off coupon I got other things we really needed… put them away and don’t need to shop again for a while!
I love all the different scenarios… Keep up the good work ladies.
Happy day.

I went to Walgreens today to use my 10/40 coupon. I concentrated on buying items that would generate either a rebate or RR. No RR printed out at the end of my transaction. I asked the clerk about it and she told me that when you use a $10/40 coupon no RR will print. Has anyone else experienced this?

Honestly, I think when a cashier has no idea why a RR won’t print, they just tell you what they ‘think’ the right answer is. You hear different comments from so many people about why the RR didn’t print out.
I was on another site (sorry, don’t know which one) that said if you use a RR then more RR won’t print out. I think this may be partially true.
The other day I got the Robitussin, the Scrubbing Bubbles and the mouthwash deal. I paid for my order with coupons and a RR from the Robitussin. My Scrubbing Bubbles and mouthwash RRs printed, but not the one for Robtussin. So I’m wondering if the computers are smart enough to know that I obviously already got that deal.
At the time no one (cashier, manager or myself) could figure out why they wouldn’t print, so the manager just voided the Robitussin and re-rang so they would come out.
[Reply]
Kelly, my comment? Darn! How’s that for a comment! LOL. I am new to Wag-ing, so I’m not sure if they’ll take two of the same Catalinas on one order or not. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow. If not, I’ll need to figure out another creative way to work this. Don’t worry, I’ll stay up all night working on the perfect scenerio. : )
I wonder if this is just a case of YMMV or if the register just won’t allow it.

Great site! I’ll be back for more money saving tips. Thanks to The Q Family Adventure site for the link!

I’ve had three bad experiences with Walgreens this week. I live in Florida, and tried to do the Robitussin, Caltrate Vitamins, and Scrubbing Bubbles deals. NONE of the RR’s printed. The managers of both stores said that it was because I used coupons. I’m not sure if there is a recourse here. Thanks.

So, I printed off one coupon $10/$40 coupon today…can I print off another one and shop again tomorrow?

Robitussin $2 coupon

I believe since the ad says “1 per customer” or however it is worded, the system is set up to “know” that you already got that reward if you are paying for it with the same reward. Make sense?
It is called not being able to “roll” that RR.
Unlike CVS where if the limit is 3 you can buy one, use the eCB from that one to buy another and get the ECB again. Not true for WG.
You ahve to be careful with the RR’s when doing several transactions.
HTH!

I had the same problem with RR printing. I could not use Robitussin RR to pay for Dimetapp (or the RR would not print). I even tried to use Crest RR to pay for Dimetapp and they still wouldn’t print. So they voided the transaction and I paid cash. The end of my story (after visiting several different locations) – only use RR to pay for items that aren’t expected to print more RR. That’s fine. I can always use diapers!

I had a great visit to WAGS last night in middle TN! I was able to find Robitussin DM on an end cap on the bottom shelf with all the WAGS brand cough syrups. I asked a manager if they had more Oust Surface & Air Sanitizer (for which I had two BOGO coupons, in addition to the $1 ES Q). He went into the back and brought out some clearance Outdoor Scent cans for only ONE DOLLAR EACH! Free after just the ES Q! They also did have the Chemistry, Pert, Sunsilk, South Beach bars, KY Yours & Mine. The Heberts bars were regularly priced at $1.99 each. The manager also said WAGS substituted the SPACE BAGS last month for the FAR, so the ones I got should work this month as well. He said they had such trouble getting them in last month that’s probably why they added it to this month’s rebates. All of my WAGS and MFR Qs worked fine (for a pleasant surprise), and my $10 RRs popped out, and then I breathed a great sigh of relief! He also mentioned not knowing how much longer the RR would be around. He was very pleasant with my whole transaction. This was not my usual local WAGS.
I would like to comment on the post above about using coupons ethically and responsibly, so as not to give retailers and manufacturers a bad taste. Money Saving Mom has mentioned not going overboard, and though I’ve been guilty of doing it myself in the first months of couponing, I’ve learned that a little is good and more is not always so good (for me, our family, our home, or for the coupon system as a whole). I love this site and I’m enjoying all the savings (in moderation).
Have a blessed Saturday with your families!

I requested Walgreens’ coupon policy this week from corporate, and here is their reponse below. I received an almost identical response from Publix a few weeks ago. Not so with WalMart…theirs is on their website, and it’s quite liberal I think.

Thank you for taking your time to contact our Corporate Offices. We appreciate hearing from our customers and value all comments received.
We do not have a set coupon policy rather guidelines we follow. If you have specific questions I would be happy to answer them for you. If you have concerns please specify the location involved so we may notify senior
management for resolution.
Again, thank you for contacting our corporate office. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your comments.

I was able to use my Register Rewards for payment after all my coupons were used–including the $10/$40 coupon.
Also, I used coupons and all my Register Rewards printed out. I wonder why it is not working for some of you? I am sorry.
