Walgreens and Rite Aid: Free L’Oreal Vive Pro

by crystal on July 14, 2008

Loreal
In Sunday’s SmartSource insert (07/13) there was a coupon for B1G1 L’Oreal Vive Pro shampoo or conditioner. This same shampoo and conditioner is on sale B1G1 at Walgreens and Rite Aid this week.

So, if you buy 2 and use 1 B1G1 coupon, you’ll get two free! (The store will give you one free as part of their promotion and the coupon will give you one free from the manufacturer!)

I love this shampoo and conditioner… now to go find me some coupons for it so I can stock up since my shampoo supply is running low!

Also, Kacy emailed in:

At my Walgreens (in Arkansas), they have select 27 oz. Johnson &
Johnson baby lotion & wash on sale for $3.27.  If you buy 3,
combining the EasySaver $1.00 off coupons and $1.00 off manufacturer
coupons and get $5.00 back in Register Rewards, it’s a money maker (we
just had a baby, so I have tons of J & J coupons from mailouts, the
hospital & friends).  I haven’t done the deal yet, but it should
work.

I didn’t get that coupon.. what insert was it in?

Thanks

Eden C. July 14, 2008 at 9:10 am

now i have a coupon from an older insert (expires 8/31/08) for $1 off vive shampoo. can i use this in conjunction with the buy one get one free coupon do you think?

Sienna July 14, 2008 at 9:17 am

It’s BOGO at Rite Aid this week too – guess they really want to give us 2 free bottles!

PurpleHeather July 14, 2008 at 9:25 am

It was in SmartSource, but I’ve actually seen two versions of the insert. In the Chicago area, the big one was in the Tribune and the smaller one in the Suntimes (I think. I picked up my inserts at my local Starbucks.) I don’t believe the smaller one had the L’Oreal coupon.

Kristy July 14, 2008 at 10:05 am

My Walgreens didn’t have the kind that the coupon would work on so I went to RiteAid, they have the BOGO there too this week. They let me have it because they had all the types marked HydraGloss, but took down the signs till they could look into it further. I got 4 for $0.90 though!

The same BOGO L’Oreal deal is also available this week at Ralph’s (through tomorrow).

Too bad this coupon wasn’t in my inserts. Oh well. Thanks!

Sedonia July 14, 2008 at 10:27 am

I tried to use the b1g1 coupon at my local walgreens and it would not work. The cashier said that I was already getting one free and that I could not combine coupons. I don’t see how I was combining coupons. Maybe I’ll try Rite Aid to see if it works.

Michele@Philoxenos July 14, 2008 at 10:56 am

I did this deal last night at Rite Aid. Wasn’t sure if they’d do it since sometimes they balk at using a BOGO coupon on a BOGO deal, but she did it! Woo hoo! I went out and bought another paper and I’m going to try to do it again this week.

shel@lifewithseven July 14, 2008 at 10:58 am

I was unable to get them both free at Walgreens. The cashier wouldn’t do it since it was already B1G1 on sale…bummer.

Sarah July 14, 2008 at 11:02 am

My Walgreens wouldn’t let me use it either. The cashier was very rude. She said the same thing…you can’t combine coupons. It’s the same as using a Walgreens coupon or register rewards coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon. I couldn’t fine their coupon online either. I will give Rite Aid a try:)

Kristianna July 14, 2008 at 11:54 am

I tried this with only 2 bottles yesterday, hoping to get a fully free set of shampoo and conditioner, but the cashier would not use the BOGO coupon, saying you had to buy at least one of them outright.

I am considering buying 4 bottles and seeing if just maybe I can BOGO 2 with the Walgreens sale, and then get one more free with the coupon, making if buy-one-get-three? I need to check to see if there is a limit that would come into play. Anyone know?

i did this same deal at Kroger yesterday. and my little girls saw those pink bottles and instantly wanted them for themselves.

Dianne July 14, 2008 at 12:04 pm

Rite Aid also has Lysol neutra-air fresheners BOGO free. Get them free after coupon in recent Sunday paper. Also at Rite Aid get free tub of Pampers wipes with purchase of large box of Pampers through single check rebate.

tonya k July 14, 2008 at 12:15 pm

Can you use the B1G1F coupon at Rite Aid along with the $1 Rite Aid coupon for the Vive Pro? I found this coupon in the Beauty booklet located by the cash registers.

Lynn July 14, 2008 at 12:16 pm

I did not get the VIVE coupons in my insert and by viewing the 7/13 insert post at Taylortown there seems to be quite a few that I did not receive. Do the insert offers vary from State to State? I’m from Northern California.

Thanks for any information.

Maggie July 14, 2008 at 12:56 pm

Same happened to me. The cashier at first said she couldn’t combine the two B1G1 free’s. Than she called the manager and I said one is free from Walgreens and the other one is free from the manufacturer. I think that just to get me out of the store, they let me do it! I don’t think I will try it again though :)

nicole July 14, 2008 at 1:36 pm

i just went to walgreens at lunch. got 4 bottles for $1.02!!!!!!!

Faith July 14, 2008 at 1:54 pm

I had the same problem. The store manager wouldn’t let me use the coupon when I was already getting one free. He looked at me like I was crazy for even trying. Oh well. :-)

SavingYoung July 14, 2008 at 3:05 pm

My Walgreens wouldn’t let me do this deal. They said that it was their new coupon policy that they would not accept/use a B1G1 coupon in conjunction with a B1G1 sale. Also, they wouldn’t let me use a store coupon & manufacturer coupon for cutter bug spray because the coupon total was more than the price of the item.

Lizz @ Yes, and So Is My Heart July 14, 2008 at 3:22 pm

I just checked and my coupon is for $1.00 off, so hopefully it will work. I’m not sure what the regular price is, so I’ll have to see what I think when I go to Walgreens. I’m hoping it works though since the only shampoo I have is currently in my shower.

Shannon July 14, 2008 at 3:36 pm

Just went to Target to get the Vive b/c it is on sale for $3.49 a bottle. I went around the corner and on the endcap they have bonus packs that have two bottles in there for the price of one, so you can buy one bonus pack with two shampoos in it and get another bonus pack with your BOGO coupon! Get 4 bottles for the price of one! Yeah!

Melissa July 14, 2008 at 3:59 pm

Kroger had this BOGO deal too, but when I checked out with my BOGO coupon, they tried to charge me $2. The cashier told me it was fraud on the coupon to give me both for free. I talked to the manager, and he told me that it is corporate policy that BOGO deals are actually “2 for the price of 1.” So, in this case, the shampoo that was advertised as BOGO actually rings up as 2/$3.98. He tried to tell me it was the same thing, that I was still getting a good deal…but we all know it’s really not the same thing, and there are much better deals to be had.

Sarah July 14, 2008 at 4:36 pm

At the 2 Walgreens I tried the deal at, the cashier gave me some grief. I was very kind and asked for the manager. Both times, the manager corrected the cashier and my coupons were accepted. So, just kindly ask for a manager and it should go through.

Also- another Freebie!
Maalox chewables are on sale for 3.99. There is a $2/1 coupon in the easy saver, and then a $2/1 manf. coupon that came out this Sunday. Making it free!

Julie July 14, 2008 at 6:57 pm

My WAGS declined the BOGO Vive coupon, too. I’ve never had that happen before. I think I’ll take them back later.

Leslie July 14, 2008 at 8:43 pm

I did not receive the coupon in the SS insert. I guess they do vary from state to state. I am in Austin, TX. Bummer! I wanted to save!!! (even though I’ve already stock piled tons of shampoo).

Kimberly July 14, 2008 at 9:46 pm

I havent tried this deal because my local smart source insert didn’t have this coupon, but two weeks ago, CVS gave me a hard time about the b1g1 coupon on lifesavers!!

Jenna July 14, 2008 at 9:55 pm

Crystal,

First I would like to say congratulations to you for keeping your site upbeat. Also, for keeping positive despite some folks sending you negative comments.
Walgreens in our area state you can not use BOGO with their BOGO offer but I keep asking because the corporations policy is that it is allowed. I personally don’t get cashier with personal issues that don’t want to see a consumer get a great deal, it is not as if it is out of the stores pot or their paycheck. The man. coupons pay for use of the coupon. The stores do not loose on someone using coupons regardless of what the customer pays.

Julie Bird July 14, 2008 at 10:36 pm

I did this deal at Walgreens today and it worked. I bought one shampoo and Walgreens gave me one free with their ad deal and then I used the B1G1 coupon from the paper to get another one free. So I bought 1 @ $4.99 and got 2 free! WOW!!! I love this website!!!! I told my husband I went to Walgreens today and he said, “One of these days I’m going to open the bathroom door and it’s going to be filled with toothpaste! We’ll have 7000 tubes of toothpaste and they paid you to buy them!” ;-) He is getting a kick out of all my deals! Thanks Crystal!

Pam July 15, 2008 at 10:50 am

B1G1 didn’t work at Walgreens for me either.

Candy July 15, 2008 at 11:47 am

My Walgreens wouldn’t budge on letting me use the BOGO coupon with the BOGO offer. When I got home I called the district office and she backed the store manager, saying Walgreens does not accept BOGO free coupons when they are offering a BOGO sale.

nicole July 15, 2008 at 2:25 pm

so went to the same walgreens as yesterday and they would not accept it, even though yesterday i bought (well didn’t really “Buy”) but got 4 bottles for just the tax. today they said no since i was already getting one free. oh well!

Meghann July 15, 2008 at 3:14 pm

I got 2 bottles for 35¢ at Walgreens last night, but the cashier didn’t want to give it to me. She ended up calling the manager who said that the coupons go through like cash, and put it through. Hooray for almost free hair products!

Stacy July 16, 2008 at 8:29 am

Walgreens (Nashville)said “no way” on the B1G1 coupon with the B1G1 sale.

Robin July 16, 2008 at 11:24 am

Same deal here (Tampa area). No BOGO on the Vive Pro when store is offering BOGO. Not a good day at Walgreens today. Thanks Crystal for all the deals that you post, just thought someone might like to know that the BOGO with both free is not working for everyone.

Kim July 16, 2008 at 3:55 pm

I did it in the Nashville area last night with four Vive Pro bottles and the cashier (my favorite one) was excited to see such a great deal. I also did the Rite Aid Lysol Neutra Air sprays. It was so exciting. They were BOGO bundled in shrinkwrap. Then they were advertised as BOGO. Then I had 6 BOGO coupons. So 24 sprays for the price of tax! There have been many times when I’ve been refused the use of certain coupons, namely my mean ole’ Publix store, but I do love it when a plan comes together! I’m learning that no matter what, I just have to walk in peace and remember that coupon usage is not a God-given right but that I must submit to store manager authority. God will bless a good attitude of the heart, and I hope to remember all of this the next time I set out with my coupons! :)

kirsi July 16, 2008 at 4:08 pm

i went to walgreens here in columbus, ohio and my cashier said “you might not be allowed to use this because it already is buy 1 get 1 free,” but she rang up the coupon and it worked fine. maybe it is an issue of whether or not the computer will allow it..?

Sheri July 16, 2008 at 9:32 pm

I tried to get 2 bottles of Vive @ WAGS & Kroger. Didn’t work @ either one :( the cashier said that they are already BOGO, I said, I know that’s why I’m getting them now. lol. oh well maybe I’ll try again.
