Kroger: Free Herbal Essence shampoo and conditioner!

by crystal on July 15, 2008

Herbalessence_3

Kroger has their Herbal Essences Shampoo or Conditioner on sale for
2 for $5 this week. There is also a promotion going on where when you buy any 3 participating P&G products, you get $3 off your order (up to $12 off per transaction). P&G
also had a $3/2 Herbal Essences coupon in the 07/06 insert. Combining all of these deals together makes for free shampoo and conditioner!

Here’s how it breaks down:

Buy 6 shampoos or conditioners at $2.50 each = $15
Use 3 $3/2 coupons
Get an additional $6 off for buying 6 P&G products
Free after coupons and promo discount!

Also, some of the bottle of Herbal Essence have a code on them for a free pedicure or manicure when you buy two bottles. Definitely be on the lookout for those. Free Herbal Essence and free pedicure or manicure? I’ll take it.

And now I am feeling very sad that we no longer have Kroger here. Everyone who has them better stock up in my place, okay? :)

Thanks to Kelly for giving me the heads up on this deal!

Do you know if these deals work at Kroger owned stores that aren’t Kroger specifically, ie QFC?

tbcg05 (Becky) July 15, 2008 at 6:08 pm

Is this included in the P&G sale? There are not signs posted for this product at the stores I have been to. If so, I am heading over soon! Free is the best kind!

Kelly July 15, 2008 at 6:15 pm

Too bad…looking in my Kroger’s sale ad, Herbal Essences isn’t one of the “participating items” for this sale… :( Pantene is though (you can get 3 for $7) so if anyone has great coupons for Pantene you might want to try that deal!

Shayleen July 15, 2008 at 6:30 pm

I’m kind of getting into the coupon thing and don’t understand how you can get THREE of these types of coupons. I did get one and used it at Kroger…but THREE coupons? How?

karen July 15, 2008 at 6:47 pm

Is “this week” the grocery week starting tomorrow (Wed)? I hope so…

Jessica July 15, 2008 at 6:48 pm

Be careful on this deal – I tried this last week and it didn’t work. I think it’s regional – but it didn’t work for me in TN (Nashville).

But it’s an awesome deal for those who can have it!!

P.S. I LOVE your blog – it has made finding deals so much easier – thanks for all you do!

Jessica July 15, 2008 at 6:51 pm

I just wanted to mention that this is NOT nationwide. It didn’t work at my Kroger in Savannah, GA

Jocelyn July 15, 2008 at 7:07 pm

Thanks for the great deal, I’ll have to check it out later today!! :)

Susan July 15, 2008 at 7:15 pm

This deal doesn’t work because you will only get one $3 off your receipt from P&G.

Heather July 15, 2008 at 8:16 pm

Ok, I have a Smith’s, not a Kroger, but it’s all part of the same chain as King Soopers. They had them 2/$6 which I did not realize until I got to the store, but I had 2 coupons, so I got 6 bottles for $6 which is a deal in my book!

Emily July 15, 2008 at 8:39 pm

Did not have the “participating item” tag, so I didn’t try it. I don’t think it’s working here, either.

kelly July 15, 2008 at 8:58 pm

This deal works in southern Indiana! But it ends the 16th…..so hurry!!

EmilyV July 15, 2008 at 9:03 pm

This deal is not working in the Atlanta area.

Brandy July 15, 2008 at 9:04 pm

It’s working at my local Kroger in VA. They weren’t listed in the ad but there are signs in my store. Ditto on Pampers Baby Wipes…

Buy 3 @ 2.61, use three .50 coupons (doubled to $1),$3 off at register = .61/each!!

Thanks for all you do!

I did this deal last week (I’m in central IN). Our ads go Thursday to Thursday, and I bought six, used three coupons, and got six dollars off my order (it’s not even a catalina– it comes right off your total, so that makes it even better). I also got two bottles of the mani/pedi and mailed it off but haven’t heard back.

Rachel July 15, 2008 at 9:24 pm

It works in the Dallas area…now I’m just hoping to get the free pedicure too!

bobbi July 15, 2008 at 9:26 pm

im not sure about everyone elses, but my manufacture coupon $3 for 2 says only 1 coupon per purchase? so how are you able to use more than one of these? thanks

*************
Money Saving Mom here: Bobbi, welcome! All coupons have this wording on them and it just means that you can only use one coupon per every two you buy. Hope that helps!

Jenna July 15, 2008 at 9:28 pm

This deal works in East Texas. I have gotten lots of free bottles and am sending in for the free manicure/pedicure. But, I think today is the last day.

Elizabeth July 15, 2008 at 9:29 pm

I am in NE Texas and I got my six free bottles on Monday!!! I also got Pampers wipes for .79 and Pantene for .34 and Secret deoderant for .39! I did several different P&G deals!

Ask your friends and neighbors for their extra/unused coupons–that’s how I get more coupons.

Sarah July 15, 2008 at 9:37 pm

It did work here in Indiana!

Darlene July 15, 2008 at 9:56 pm

Works in Northeast Indiana at Krogers & Scotts grocery stores. 29 bottles strong and counting!

Jennifer July 15, 2008 at 10:02 pm

I am from Texas, and this was working in my stores. I managed to get 9 bottles! Thanks for the tip.

And for the person who asked how to get more of these coupons… I recieved these coupons in my newspaper, so I just bought multiple copies.

Jamie July 15, 2008 at 10:14 pm

I tried in the Cincinnati area and it did not work there either. That’s a bummer too!

Shayleen, I just buy several newspapers every week so I can get multiples of the coupons. Some people get them from other people like family members, some people buy them from clipping sites. There’s a few different ways to get them, but I just buy 6 – 10 newspapers every week. I have places in my area that sell them for .99 and I always get that back and then some from the coupons I use, so it’s definitely worth it for me! I hope that helps!

Hannelore July 15, 2008 at 10:19 pm

These were not part of the P&G deal-at least in Knoxville TN. I tried it, but it didn’t work.

Jill D July 15, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Not working in Michigan :( But when combined with the 3/$15 coupon at CVS, it’s still a GREAT deal!!!

Misty Z July 15, 2008 at 10:52 pm

It’s not working in Michigan :-( But they are 2/$5 at CVS this week, and using a $3/$15 coupon and the $3/2 manu coupons makes them $0.50 a bottle, or I consider them free if I’m using ECB overage that I have generated.

Michigan Krogers do have free Crest this week, though! It is $2, minus $1 from the $3 off 3 P&G deal, and minus $1 from the July 7/6 PG insert = free (you pay tax).

Dana July 15, 2008 at 10:57 pm

As far as I know, Herbal Essences isn’t included in the P&G promotion here. I’m in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. This shampoo is on sale here though, 2/$5. With the $3/2 coupon, it’s still a pretty good deal. Not as good as free though! (I did this sale twice in the past two weeks and have been able to send away both times for a free pedicure/manicure though! Not too bad… 4 bottles of shampoo/conditioner and 2 pedicures for a total of $4!)

shari July 15, 2008 at 11:46 pm

Just wanted to say that those who dont get multiple inserts can still get a good deal. Sometimes I get other inserts from family but usually I get one insert and I buy HOT coupons.

I did 2 HE’s (3/2 coupon) and 1 secert deo at $1.39. Kroger doubled my $0.50 coupon for secret (recent insert) so I paid $0.39 for shampoo, conditioner, and deo.

Hope this helps another newbie.

Al Pooser July 16, 2008 at 1:34 am

I did this deal several times in Central Louisiana. On the second time I did it, I purchased 9 bottles of HE and used 4 $3/2 coupons and Kroger paid me 97 cents to take the shampoo off of their hands. Man, do I love Kroger. I have upgraded Kroger as my favorite store from Dollar Tree. I have purchased 21 bottles of HE. WOW!!!

Jocelyn July 16, 2008 at 1:35 am

Hi I am in AZ and just got back from Fry’s Food, a Kroger branch store. They had the sale going on for herbal essense at 2/$5 but they were all out of last weeks ads so I had to buy them first to see if it would work. The receipt only subtracted one $3 p&g deal and not the other $3. I noticed one was marked 3 and the other was -3 and both had the p&g promo next to them. I couldn’t let it go so I went back in to ask the manager. She simply took my receipt and looked at it and said that it might have been the limit on the promo (only one) but since I mentioned that both 3′s were marked promo, I thought it should have worked. She was nice and simply gave me $3 back. Thank you for the great tip, I surely wouldn’t have gotten them without your wonderful blog!!

michelle July 16, 2008 at 3:50 am

I live North of Dallas and it wasn’t on sale but I did however still get a great deal on them because I was still able to get the 3.00 off with the proctor and gamble promotion

mom_of2boys July 16, 2008 at 6:05 am

The Herbal Essences isn’t included in the P&G promotion at my store in Dayton, OH. The shampoo and conditioner is on sale here though, 2/$5. With the $3/2 coupon, it’s still a pretty good deal. You can get the same deal at CVS (they have it on sale for 2/$5. I did get 4 bottles to be able to send away for the free pedicure/manicure so for me – it’s still quite a deal!

Sarah July 16, 2008 at 6:54 am

Tried this at my local Kroger last night in Cincinnati, OH and it didn’t work. It wasn’t one of the P&G participating items.

Bummer, I really wanted some free shampoo.

Kirstin July 16, 2008 at 8:01 am

:( I already used my $3 off coupon at CVS where they were also 2/$5. Oh well, $1/bottle isn’t too bad.

Kim Carlile July 16, 2008 at 10:16 am

I did this in Raleigh NC. First time I bought a shampoo and a styling product and it did NOT work. It must be the shampoo or conditioner, NOT a styling product. I did it again got 4 bottles of H.E. 3 containers of Pampers wipes and 2 big bottles of Downy. It took $9 off for the P&G and then my coupons. It cost me about $5.00 plus tax for all of that!!!

Sarah July 16, 2008 at 11:32 am

I saw someone said that the deal was not working where they live. I went to Kroger last week and they didn’t have it in the system to ring up correctly. I asked the service desk and they noticed the problem and had it corrected.

Dona July 16, 2008 at 4:27 pm

I bought two herbel Essence and one tube of $Crest toothpaste
5 for the shampoo, $2 for the toothpaste=$7

I used these coupons
$3 off of 2 shampoo
$.50 off crest toothpaste-doubled to $1.00

Total to pay was then $3.00

My reciept gave me back $3.00 bonus P&G coupon! So I got it all free!
I am in WV

Lea Ann July 16, 2008 at 4:45 pm

Free deal worked at Kroger on Mockingbird in Dallas. Did it last week. Got the Mani/Pedi bottles too. LImit is 3 P&G deals of $3 off each transaction. I did two transactions to get 6 total $3 off, so got 6 free HE shampoo, 9 big cans of Gillette shaving cream for .79 each, 3 Tide for 3.99 each. All using multiples of those P&G saver coupons.
ASK YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS FOR THEIR COUPONS. You’d be surprised how many don’t use them. Also, find coupons in recycling bins in parking garages of condos…single yuppies don’t clip coupons. I score alot this way, Starbucks coffee in hand while I do it.

Rochelle Wilkerson July 17, 2008 at 11:03 am

Here’s my weird kroger day….
I purchased 4 bottles of “Body Envy” shampoo and 2 bottles of “Long term relationship” shampoo. All bottles had the pedicure offer on the front. The deal worked.

I turned directly around to do it again and purchased different Herbal Essence Shampoos without the pedicure offer on the front of the bottle and it didn’t work. Same store, SAME CASHIER!

Obviously from “Al Pooser’s” remarks there must not be a limit. I’m wondering if it’s related to the pedicure offer.

The deal works here in Memphis, TN! I went last night and used 2 of the $3/2 coupons, 1 Pampers wipe coupon and 1 Secret coupon and got $6 off. I went back this morning and got 2 more bottle of shampoo, 3 wipes, and 1 secret for $3.50!!!
