I mentioned the sweet photo book deal running at CVS right now, but Marianne found a way to make it even sweeter!
She found $3/1 CVS coupons for the 6×8 photo books by the Kodak photo printer at her CVS store. Marianne has more details and a picture of the coupon here.
Likely, many other stores have these same coupons, too! So, scour your store and if you’re able to find them, here’s the deal you can get:

I don’t know if anyone has done this deal, but I made the books yesterday. It was easy & took hardly any time at all. I did get them for free. But I got NO overage because the cashier wouldn’t let me use the Kodak coupons. She said they were “not Kodak books, they are just CVS books.” She said she had worked there forever. So I don’t know if it is like that everywhere, but it was that way for me. Shoot that I didn’t think of the CVS $3/$15 coupons! Just fyi…
I’m so bummed. I went to do this today, and the store didn’t have the coupons. They also didn’t have the bindings for the larger books, AND then it did not work to bring in pictures off a flash drive to use in a smaller book either.
Anyone know if you cannot use a flash drive for the books, or if it was just the machine at this particular store? I really wanted to make one for my husband, as our 10th anniversary is tomorrow. I can try a different store, but I don’t want to waste my time with a toddler in tow.
Are you sure it is ok to use the $3/15 CVS coupon AND the CVS coupon for the photo book? I know you can combine the manufacturers coupons, but I thought CVS coupons were 1 per order????

Money Saving Mom here: Yes, this is perfectly ethical. So long as the coupon is item-specific and your store is okay with it, you can use both one $/$$ and item-specific CRTs or CVS coupons stacked with manufacturer’s coupons. The coupons should scan through without a problem!
Are you serious!!! I had no idea you could stack those. As I was making my books the cashier informed me that they were out of the binding for the books and she would have to make a trip to the warehouse to pick more up. She asked if I would mind coming back to pick up my books. Then she gave me 3 of those coupons as compensation for having to come back. I just set them aside for future use because I had the newspaper coupons. I wish I had realized they were stackable.
Does anyone happen to know approximately how many pictures a 6 x 8 photo book as well as the smaller size that is $3.99 holds?? I’ve never done a photo book before, so I’m at a loss as to what to really even prepare to bring to the store with me. Thanks for any advice anyone has. I certainly don’t want to miss out on this deal!!
geez, i wish i would have found that yesterday when i got one of the photo books. oh well, i was planning to do another one today so i’ll have to keep my eyes open for that one.
while i was in my new cvs yesterday, i had a transaction that totaled $28.xx and gave the cashier my coupons and my ending total was $4.77. she asked me how I did that and i told her to come visit your website and it will all be explained. she then told me she was a single mom and had been watching customers do similar purchases so she’s been saving her coupons but still couldn’t quite figure it out. i told her this website had a wonderful tutorial for beginners!!
Just wondering–in the scanned picture of the coupon in the link you provided, it says “not valid with other coupons or sale offers”. Is this a case where you just try it and see if your local store will accept this coupon along with the 3/$15 AND the MQ’s?
Just as an FYI – I went today and my favorite cashier was saving some for me. she said the system won’t let you ring up two of those Qs in the same transaction. i guess it would be a YMMV but it wouldn’t fly at my store.
Does anyone know… if you purchase a $3.99 book and a $7.99 book at the same time, do the ECBs print out in two coupons (i.e. a $3.99 and a $7.99) or all together in one (i.e. an $11.98)? Thanks!
Wowsie! I was just about to head over to CVS tonight after dinner with my husband, with my digital pics in hand…. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for those coupons!! Thanks!
Our CVS doesn’t have the 6×8 books… and is just basically giving away the 8 x 10 in its place…very strange..but nice! I am heading out to do the book tonight and will look for the coupons!
I couldn’t find the $3 one, but I did get a coupon off of the envelopes that they put your pictures in (there around the photo lab) for $1 off a Kodak picture order. That worked along with the other coupons!
…answering some of the questions from above based on what I know from doing the deal this week.
I read on another site that the 6 x 8 photo books will hold up to 54 pictures. But the more you do the smaller the pictures get on each page. I did 25 on mine and there was at least one full size pic and then 1 – 2 smaller ones. As for the 4 x 6 book I just did 10 pics becasue I didn’t want smaller picts but you can do more. I’m not sure how many though.
The ECBs for the 4×6 book come up separately from the 6 x 8 book. But if you do 2 6 x 8 books in one transaction then you will get a 15.98 ECB.
I don’t think you are supposed to be able to use 2 $3/1 kodak coupons from the newspapers. It beeped when I did but the cashier said that you should be able to use both and she pushed it thru.
I have done (2) 6X8s and (1) 4X6 photobooks. They are very nice.
I did two separate days for these…one day, I did the small and a large, which the ECBs printed out separately for me. Today, I went and used my 3.99 ECB + $3 Kodak coupon. The kodak coupons would not work at the store but they used them anyway.
The max for the large photobook is 54 pictures. Each additional page costs 29 cents.
My photo lady also said some people were getting free photobook CRTs so be on the look out.
I had a problem today with my last one. Careless girl stapled the wrong side of the pix so now the pages have holes. The manager was “oh, well” about it too, didn’t even apologize, since the girl already said she told me she was sorry. I don’t really think she did, I only heard her admit to the mistake. They ended up giving me 1/2 off and I still got the full ECB back. I thought the kiosk stored the info so they could reprint the pages, but they said it didn’t.
I made out really well with this photo book deal. I went Sunday and got two 6×8 books. I used a $3/$15 coupon and two $3 kodak coupons. I paid something like $7.98. I also got back $15.98 ECB’s and a coupon for $4/$20. and a coupon for a free hand sanitizer spray. I decided to use the ECB’s to get some more books. I figured if I bought four books and used the ECB’s and the last 3 kodak coupons I had I would only pay around $3.00. I went today and when all was done I was charged $1.27. I couldn’t figure out how. When I looked at the reciept I noticed that the cashier took $1.79 off for the free sanitizer but, he did not ring it up. I felt I should be honest and speak up but, I was told the sanitizer was free don’t worry about it.
Yes, I also got two 6X8 photo books and one 4×6 and I did them all in one transaction. I got 3.99 and 15.98 ecb’s . So the two larger ones were combined. I only had one coupon $3 off. This was a good deal because I got three Christmas presents and built up my ecbs. I found the smaller book to hold 36 photos and the larger 54 photos. Having not done this before, I did not realize you could do less-wish I had done that as some photos were a little smallish. I brought my photos in on disk. They do let you edit out background colors you might not like, but I did not try to make any other changes. Did anyone else make any changes besides not putting the maximum number of photos in?
I went to CVS to make my 6×8 photo books. The manager who finally got the machine working told me there was no way to organize the photos to put them on specific pages in the book. It was completely random. I had my pictures on the cd titled 1 – 25 thinking it would order them that way and help. He told me after wasting 45 minutes that it was a completely random process and no way to specify an order to the book. Does anyone have any insite that put one together?! I could put a picture on the clipboard only one and a time and then move it to a page but to do that to 10 pages with over 25 pictues would take forever. CVS customer service was supposed to call me back today but did not – they told me the same thing but were looking into it.
Has anyone done the book online and picked it up at the store? I talked the photo lady on the phone at CVS and she said you could, indeed do this. She said you would get the same amount of ECBs back as you would if you made it in the store!
I had a great day at CVS this week. I took advantage of the photobook deal. I’ll try to explain what I did…I’m very new at this! (It’s my 2nd week.)
I had 12 EB’s from last week (which I only spent $12 to get so I was pleased.) I purchased 2 of the 6×8 books and one of the 4×6 books. I also bought a box of Lucky Charms and a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I had a $4/$20 coupon for signing up for the first time on the CVS website. I had a $1.00 off two boxes of General Mills cereal and $.40 off a box of Lucky Charms.
I really don’t quite know how it all worked, but it seemed our store was doing a BOGO deal for the photobooks (I should have bought another 4×6 book, but I didn’t realize about the deal). General Mills cereal was also on sale, BOGO.
I gave the cashier my 12 EB’s. She asked if I’d like to pick up another $1.25 in items since I had that left over. I’d been eyeing some candy bars for $.50. I picked up three.
My grand total – $.33.
I got 3 photobooks, two boxes of cereal, and three candy bars (2 Resees and 1 KitKat)for $.33! And I also recieved almost $20 back in EB’s!!!
I think I’m going to like the CVS couponing stuff!
If you got the $5 off photobook email a few weeks ago AND your store takes expired CVS coupons, then you can really make this a moneymaker!
Krista, I was able to use a flash drive. It was probably just that particular machine.
Danielle, from what I understand, you have to create the books in the store. You won’t get the ECBs if you do it online.
” I had my pictures on the cd titled 1 – 25 thinking it would order them that way”
You need to number them 01, 02, 03… I had them as 1, 2, 3, etc. and yes, then it did appear that the book was random and I had to painstakingly move the pictures around. But when I went back with them numbered the other way, the pictures did go in order, although it didn’t know that, for example, I wanted 4 pictures on page 5 and 2 pictures on page 6. It was kind of a pain but I still loved this deal!
To try to answer Hannelore – At my CVS I was only able to move pictures one at a time on the clipboard, but I was able to put the pages in the order I wanted them after they printed. Once they printed, the cashier handed me all the pages & said I could put them in the order I wanted before she binded them together.
I just did the photobook deal, and it was fun! I was able to arrange the photos, pick backgrounds, insert text, etc. It took me a while, but I’m a perfectionist.
I wanted to add a fun idea for those of you who enjoy being creative… I have cut scrapbooking paper to stick to the back of each page (since the photobooks only are one-sided pages), and I’m including other mementos and little write-ups to accompany the facing pages! One of mine is for a trip, so I’ve included ticket stubs, cuttings from tourist pamphlets, and wrote little stories of memories from the trip. It turned out really neat!!!
I went to CVS last night to make my photo books, but they were out of stock. This is actually GREAT for me, because they gave me a raincheck that doesn’t expire, and I’m due to have a baby in a month. I’d much rather make the books after the baby is born. Woo hoo!! (I used to make multiple trips to CVS looking for the same out-of-stock product, but now that I’ve discovered that my CVS will issue rain checks, I don’t need to do that–I go once and if they’re out, I just get the rain check.)
