The thing that has easily saved me the most money is shopping at more than one store. I used to make my list and head out to the store. If something was on sale, that was simply a bonus. Now, I do scan the fliers and include both Aldi and drugstores in my grocery run. I really need to work on shopping once a week and I think I would save even more money. It is hard to pass up deals and those add up. That is a good thing when it is a planned trip, but not so good when it becomes a form of recreation.

Thanks for these tips and again, for all you do. I’m very thankful for this site.

Thanks for sharing this offer. We’re switching our weekly “date” to Tuesday this week to take advantage of the tea trial!

great site! Here’s my system: We belong to a CSA Farm- so we pay one price for 6 months of veggies. There is a nice pick your own area for herbs & flowers too. I pick up my veggies weekly at the farm. Then evaluate the weeks selection and pair sale priced foods with our veggie bounty. I do clip coupons–our local supermarket- doubles all coupons under $1. I combine double coupons with sale prices. I also go to the health food store– and purchase many staples from the bulk bins- walnuts, pasta, dried beans, popcorn. I maintain a really good spice selection in my pantry and I can jazz up just about anything. I do my own baking from scratch, never buy bread or cookies. We rarely buy cereal- have come to love steel cut oats for breakfast. We also eat less meat & cheese than we used to. I use meat and cheese like condiments — just a little to add interest. We love potatoes, whole grain rice & pasta, beans, & veggies. I also love going with my kids to do pick your own fruit. TOday we picked blueberries. I freeze them in gallon bags. We also make jam & tomato sauce & I have a good size garden this year– I will use these veggies to stock my freezer so we have organic veggies during the winter when our CSA Farm is covered in snow. Love your site…hope these ideas are useful! Blessings!
