::Want to show appreciation to the stores you frequent for deals? Monica shares here and here about her experiences taking pies to the staff at Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. What a great idea! Even if you don’t feel comfortable taking homemade baked goods (some people are very leery about accepting baked goods from individuals they do not know well), perhaps you could consider another way to show your appreciation?
As always, remember to express verbal appreciation and call customer service if you are especially impressed with an employee’s service. You never know how much this might mean to them as it seems most of the time businesses and employees only hear about what they are doing wrong, not gratitude for what they are doing right.
::Mary shares a very interesting post here complete with full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, pictures, and the price breakdowns for how she is frugally feeding her family of eleven this week. Inspiring and a must-read for anyone needing some motivation to lower your grocery budget!

I so agree about thanking the store employees. My mom always has gone out of her way to praise store employees who have gone out of their way to help her, and she passed that kindness down to her children. Writing a letter (or even an e-mail) to the company headquarters is a great way to tell the company they have valuable employees.
I just did this the other day – my favorite cashier at Walgreens is always so nice and friendly and she doesn’t scowl at me when I show up with a huge stack of coupons! Plus, she has given me a bunch of baby coupons from their envelopes under the desk, which saved me about $15 last time! So, to thank her for being such a wonderful person and to let her know how much I appreciate her, I bought her some bath wash and lotion from Bath & Body Works!
How sweet! I’ve started trying to thank my checker-outers at CVS by buying them a little sweet whenever I need a few more cents added onto a total. i.e… I need .35 more cents to take full advantage of my $5 ECB, so I just my checker-outer what their fave sweet is and grab one to go towards my total. Yes, I do pay a few more cents out of pocket, but it’s more than worth it for all the $ I’m saving at CVS!
How about gifting the cashiers occasionally with a bit of chocolate or other goodie from the deals as we are checking out? I’m going for it next time I need “filler” in my order!
Love the chocolate filler idea! I hadn’t really thought about them being leery of home-baked goodies before I did it, though it does make sense!
I have tried to sign up for the kohl’s $5 off that is posted and for the Land O Frost’s deal and was not able to get either. I clicked on the link provided and signed up and was not offered either one. Can you help me out here. Maybe I did something wrong.
Thanks
