You only have 90 days to use the converter box coupons, so don’t order them until you know what kind of box you want. Once they expire, you can’t get another, since there is a limit of 2 whether you use them or not.
Also, most of the stores that sell them only carry one brand, and all the ones I saw are ones where you won’t be able to record with a VCR on more than one channel unless you physically switch the channel, so timer programming won’t work anymore, and I’m furious about having to spend money on a new VCR now with a digital tuner!

When you get your coupons, shop around… Walmart, right now, has the best prices on the boxes: $49.97, which makes your OOP cost $9.97 + tax. You’ll pay about $10 more elsewhere.

Remember, if you get cable you don’t need the converter box. That’s only necessary if you use an antenna. OTOH, if you want to hook up an antenna during an emergency, when cable is out, the box will come in handy (you do need an antenna too, though).
