From Karen:
I recently discovered Hippopost, which allows you to upload a picture of your choice to be used as a postcard (you can also add a message). Hippopost
will then print the postcard and the postage is covered by advertising
(mailed to the US and Canada only–I’m guessing you could send them if
you are located internationally, but would have to send them to a US or
Canadian address). They are able to do this for free by placing a small advertisement
on the postcard. So long as you don’t mind sending a postcard that has
an advertisement on it, this is a great freebie!(Note from Crystal: I’m curious to know if anyone has successfully used this service before? If so, what were the advertisements on the card like?)
Those of you in the Green Bay area will want to check out the Free Kid’s Day on June 25. More details here.
Get a free bottle of Country Bob’s sauce here (if you haven’t already–Thanks, Karen!)
Free subscriptions available:
Woman’s Day magazine (you have to qualify–Thanks, Shannon!)
Good Housekeeping and more from AdPerk (requires watching commercials to qualify–Thanks, Joan!)

Why not upload a pic and send yourself a card so you can see the advertisements?
I just signed up for the post card and sent one to myself first to see what they look like and what the advertising is like. Thanks for the tip!
I have never used this service before today, but I decided to check it out. It’s very quick and easy to do. Registration is required so that they will have the sender’s address. If you have a Facebook account, you can send one through that by adding the application to your profile. That is what I chose to do. After you prepare your postcard you choose an advertisement to be printed on the lower left portion of card. My choices were Wyndham Hotels, Puma, and Fossil. I read that they will not allow offensive material, so I do hope that the advertisement choices will be appropriate as well. Thanks!
I just had a REALLY hard time signing up with Hippopost. I tried IE and Firefox, but both had problems. It let me upload a photo from my PC and type a message, but then even though it hadn’t told me my message was too long, most of it was hidden under the box they specified would contain the ad and I had to edit a few times. And then AFTER I put the address of the recipient in, it asked me to create an account, and it wouldn’t let me register, but actually it had but not letting me know, and when I tried it a second time, after a VERY long wait, it said “that user already exists” but then it wouldn’t let me log in, so I had to click the link to have them email me so I could reset the password. What an ordeal! Once I got logged in with the email link, I started from the beginning and then got a confirmation that my postcard would be sent. Now I’ll just have to wait and see if they arrive. It’s a nice idea if you have something quick to say to someone who doesn’t have a computer or phone. LOL!
If it works, I’ll mostly use it to send free copies of my photos to my friends without internet.
Thanks for the great info. I have sent out several postcards already. There used to be a service like this several years ago that was for letters. They stopped after 9/11. I guess postcards are safer in that respect. Thanks again for all that you do!
I have tired this site and it is having some trouble because you can’t login right now, so therefore you can’t send a card. Maybe too many people are trying to use it at the same time.
I just signed up and uploaded my own pics from my computer. My kids are always wanting to get mail (since I get ALL of the mail – like I want all those bills and junk mail – ;}), so I figured this would be a great way to get them something.
I think I’m in love with Hippopost! I just created an account and sent a few postcards. I made sure to send a few to my kids, just to see how they turn out. Plus it’s a bonus for them because they LOVE getting mail! This would be a cute idea for their birthdays & other special days. Thank you for finding this for us! I also signed up for another free magazine subscription thanks to you. And to think, I actually used to pay for them! lol
I had the same problems at LouAnn. I went through the whole thing and then couldn’t register at the end. I tried on Firefox and Safari. I’m frustrated, but I really, really want this to work as I would use it ALL the time!!!
Woo hoo! I totally got it to work when I registered through my facebook account.
I found it very easy to sign up through Facebook, and I had no trouble sending a postcard. I chose an ad for Wyndham Hotels. There were two other decent advertising choices, as well. Looks like a fun, free site to send picture postcards to the grandparents! Thanks!
I just got an e-mail from them and they said that it takes 7-10 business days for the cards to be delivered so plan ahead!
Just an update. I have mailed 50 cards to family on June 18th, and no one has recieved them. I don’t think it works.
Hi.
I just pulled your site up from a search on Hippopost checking in on what people are saying about it… thanks for the plug.
Did everyone get their cards?
