::Trent at The Simple Dollar posted an inspiring article on 24 simple ways they save money throughout a 24-hour day. Love it!

::Get Rich Slowly featured a guest post by Cathy from Chief Family Officer on saving hundreds by playing the drugstore game.* If you are new to CVS-ing or contemplating getting your feet wet, this would be a helpful and informative article for you to read.

*Note: I was rather sad there were so many less-than-positive comments on Cathy’s post. While playing the Drugstore Game might not be for everyone in every situation, it is definitely saving many families hundreds of dollars each year. One reason I encourage you all to share details and pictures of your shopping trips is so those who might be rather skeptical about the benefits of using coupons or jumping in and trying CVS-ing can actually see the savings our families are reaping with a little bit of effort. Sometimes seeing is believing!

I was also surprised at how people responded to Kathy’s post too! The Drugstore game is worth it for many people.

I just posted about my CVS trip this week–I left with $45 worth of stuff, and two cents more in ECBs than I started with!

I was sad that there were so many negative comments on Cathy’s post, too. Sometimes readers forget that not everything can apply to their situation. At least I knew in advance that they were being testy — I was able to warn Cathy to expect some complaining.

Thank you for the link love, Crystal! You know I love MSM, right?

Thanks again, J.D.!

I too, was very saddened by the negative comments that people were making. I wish that they could see the full fruits of what saving money at CVS or using coupons has done for a lot of families!

That post earned you a new reader and I’m now reaping the benefits of CVS coupons and ECBs. Some people crack me up sometimes with the idea that because they are high-dollar consultants it’s not worth their time to clip coupons. This isn’t a part-time job. It might take a half-hour tops to scour for all the deals, put together a game plan, and head out. And I save hundreds! I couldn’t be happier. Ignore the nay-sayers.

I just discovered your page from the DrugStore game article. I started “rolling” my bucks this weekend and can not believe how much money I have saved! In this economy being a stay home mom is almost impossible. Blogs and articles like yours and Cathy’s really help make my situation possible. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I was sad many negative comments as well. However it makes me feel happy there some people have found out about CVS and the Drugstore game. That they are too learning how to save money like the rest of us. :o ) Julie – couponsavingfamily

I was surprised by the negativity towards Cathy’s post, but a couple of my friends haven’t been eager to save this way either. Maybe they believe the coupon myths (I used to!) or they think it isn’t worth the time.

But it doesn’t take much time, and I consider it part of my “job” as a homemaker to be a wise shopper. And what a blessing to give the so-called unnecessary items! They might be unnecessary to me (we use very few processed foods or toxic cleaners) but I know a lot of people who wouldn’t mind some free Spaghetti-Os or Windex, if I can get them for free/cheap.

At first I was disappointed by negative response or lack of interest, but it’s their loss. And, it took me awhile to come around, too!

That said, it’s too bad that some who disagreed with Cathy had to be rude about it. The condescending, superior attitudes are unnecessary!

Thanks for posting the link, Crystal!

Crystal I too was saddened by teh negativity. I did post a comment back #80 to be exact. What you have done personally for my family and so many others has helped us beyond words of thankfullness.

I had to just set my story out there and let people know that the excuses, or reasons on why this is not worth their time is absurd. I think if they really thought about it somewhere in their week they are doing something that is not constructive to helping their families if they really thought about it. I can till this day say things that I can not do that take my time when I could be helping our family.
